*Uncertainty*
Angels vs devils is a trope as old as time and with good reason. The two species are polar opposites. One hailing from the realm of light, the other of darkness. Bound against each other by the laws of nature and balance.
Over time they've learned to keep their distance, never interacting unless they needed to. A sort of unspoken rule, that unless obligated to - do not engage.
A rule that was lost on a demon who never learned to control himself and an angel who was always eager to fight.

"Do you know why I called you here?"
San, Wooyoung, Yeosang and Jongho sat in front of the principal of their school: Wooyoung, with a swollen eye; Jongho, with his head hanging in shame; San, glaring at Yeosang and the angel looking rather apathetic to the whole situation. "Well?"
"P-Principal Jaebeom," Wooyoung stuttered. "It's all a misunderstanding." The principal raised his brow, leaning back in his chair, unconvinced.
"And why are you the one to tell me this? You're the one who got punched. If anything, Mr Choi here should be saying this." Wooyoung stayed silent and Jongho buried his face in his hands.
"Now, step by step, take me through what happened."
~~~~~~
The bell for first break had finally rung and San jumped from his seat with a grin, eager to speak with Wooyoung. They had made a plan to meet at the back of the school and have lunch there. After what had happened the other night, he was a little nervous to be around him. San was afraid he had gone too far yet Wooyoung seemed to take it as quite the opposite. He wouldn't let go of him for even a second and practically clung to the demon's arm during their first lesson. If they didn't seem close before, they were inseparable now. So San figured it was time they made things official.
Grinning ear to ear, the blonde waved him over from the bench he was sitting at. "Hi, Woo!" Greeted San.
"You seem nervous," Wooyoung chuckled once San sat down. "Did something happen after first period?"
"No no, I'm just thinking about...well...us." Wooyoung felt his heart stop.
"U-Us?"
As this was going on, Yeosang and Jongho walked out as well. Engaging in their usual and pleasant conversations. "I thought I told you not to speak to the teacher like that!" Jongho scolded.
Yeosang scoffed, holding the door open for the younger. "All I said was that his hair looked like it belonged on a chimps ass."
"I mean you were right, but you're not supposed to tell him to his face!"
"Wooyoung," San took his hands, grinning shyly. "I know things have been strange recently, and I'm not exactly normal but I'm so glad I've had you by my side to make things better."
"S-San...?"
San looked into his eyes. "But you make me feel like I'm normal, and you accept me for who I am. When I see you, it's like someone's set fire to my body. In a good way though. You're like a literal light in my life that brings me more happiness than you can imagine! I've never felt this way about anyone before."
"Humans, so petty. Why get upset over such trivial things?" Yeosang muttered under his breath. His blonde hair flared ever so slightly and Jongho couldn't help but groan at his discourteous attitude.
"Quite it Yeosang. Keep talking like that and you'll make everyone hate you."
"As if I care what they think. I'll outlive everyone here anyways. It's not like their opinions actually mean anything to me." They continued walking around the building, going back and forth about it until their eyes landed on the Woosan duo. Jongho simply scoffed at them.
"Oh, it's those two. Let's just walk past them."
"Wooyoung...What I'm trying to say is...that I lo-" San froze mid-sentence. He felt something...irritating surrounding him. An aura that made his aggression spike. Both Wooyoung and San glanced up as the other two walked by, neither paid them much mind but as Yeosang followed he and San made direct eye contact. Neither moved an inch, almost frozen in place. "Yeo, you coming?" Jongho called.
Wooyoung worriedly waved his hand in his friend's face. "San? Are you alright?" He desperately wanted him to continue, but right now, the demon looked broken. His eyes started to flash purple even through his contacts, which sent warnings through Wooyoung's head.
San growled, his eyes never leaving Yeosang as he stood up. The angel's hand balled into a tight first as his bright hair began to flare. Both waited for the other to make the first move. It was San. The demon lunged forward, snatching Yeosang by the neck and shoving him to the ground. The angel winced in pain and was quick to kick him off.
"Stop it!" Wooyoung shouted. Jongho pulled San away from Yeosang, and Wooyoung did the same for the angel.
"This isn't your fight, human!" Yeosang snarled. He summoned his weapon and knocked him down with the blunt end of his sword then cut San across the leg. The demon hissed but quickly shook it off, even though he was bleeding through his jeans.
"You angels have no decency!" Yelled San going for Yeosang yet again. He yanked him by his hair and shot into the air. "Don't fucking touch him again." San slammed back into the ground, his body leaving a small crater when he shot to the field. Jongho went wide-eyed at the state of his friend once the dust cleared.
"Yeosang!" San floated to Wooyoung's side asking if he was alright. "San, you son of a bitch!" Shouted Jongho. San glanced away from Wooyoung, dodging just in time as Jongho swung a fist his way. Unfortunately, someone else took the hit instead.
~~~~~~
"I'm sorry Wooyoung..." Jongho mumbled, still looking down in shame.
"It's alright, I know you didn't mean it." The principal cleared his throat, earning back the teens attention.
"Well, as thrilling as this tale is, I find it hard to believe. The truth would be much appreciated."
"But that's exactly what happened!" San hissed. "I still have the bruise on my leg from when this bitch cut me with his sword!"
Yeosang glowered in his direction, his fist once again clenching. "Just you wait," He grumbled. "That's the least of what I can do, I'll get my revenge..."
"Language Park-Kim," Principal Jaebeom sighed. "Well regardless of how you tell the story, your guardians have been notified and will, hopefully, arrive shortly." Everyone, minus Yeosang who remained unphased, groaned.
Just on time, Mingi and Yunho entered the room, with the former looking rather frantic at the situation. "Jongho what happened I heard you got into a fight! And Yeosang, you stabbed someone!?"
"It was an accident!" Jongho whined. San glanced up at Yunho, his eyes darkening instantly while Yunho met his gaze with little to no reaction.
"Have a seat, sirs." They did as they were told, pulling up a chair just behind the kids. "Wonderful, now we're just waiting for-"
"Hongjoong, calm down!" A voice called from outside. The door slammed open, splintering in the process and making everyone jump. Hongjoong stormed into the room followed by Seonghwa who was trying to calm him down.
"What was the one rule I gave you?" He growled towards San.
"I-I know but..."
"NO BUTS! Don't use your powers, keep a low profile, don't get into trouble - you did all of that!"
"I had a good reason!" San tried to say, but he was cut off yet again.
"I. Do. Not. CARE!" Seonghwa tapped his husband's shoulder. Wide-eyed, Jongho looked between the demon couple and their son. They were San's parents?
"Joong, calm down. It was probably just an acci-'' Seonghwa stopped when his head turned to the side. With his brow furrowed, Hongjoong followed his husband's gaze, which landed directly on Yunho. The trio kept staring at each other as if having a very aggressive, silent conversation.
"Here we go again," Jongho muttered.
Seonghwa smirked, looking the angel up and down. "Well, what do you know? I was wondering if they were ever going to send one. Yet here you are." Hongjoong's eyes wandered over to the principal, who sat there in confusion.
"Seonghwa," Hongjoong mumbled, not so subtly pointing to the man.
"On it," Seonghwa snapped his fingers and like a light, principal JB was out.
"Is he dead!?" Wooyoung shrieked.
"Relax, his mind has just been overtaken by darkness. He'll be knocked out for hours until I release him. At least if I remember..." That did little to ease Wooyoung's nerves so he slid over to San for comfort, with the older gladly wrapping his arm around the boy's shoulder. "Now that that's settled, why don't we go somewhere more private?" With another snap of his fingers, Seonghwa teleported everyone into the living room of the Park-Kim house.
He held onto the arm of the couch to stop himself from falling over after using too much sudden power. "The amount of demonic energy in this room is immense..." Yeosang commented.
"I don't feel anything," muttered Mingi and Wooyoung nodded in agreement. San, however, noticed that Jongho was actually a little taken aback when he entered the room, with his eyes illuminating a dull yellow. It made the older demon look at him suspiciously.
"Of course you wouldn't," said Yunho. "It is not detectable by humans." He almost winced at how strong and sudden it was.
"Right, well this is great and all, but I think I'll be taking Wooyoung upstairs-"
"Stay," Hongjoong commanded. San tried his hardest to avoid his Dad's furious gaze, but it was sort of difficult since he was glaring right through him. "Why, in THE WORLD, did you get into a fight?"
"He's an angel Dad!" San hissed, glaring towards Yeosang. "Plus, he cut me!"
"So?" The angel scoffed. "You've no self-control. Clearly, you skipped containment."
"And what's your excuse?" Yunho stepped forward, his arms crossed and his usually emotionless face, laced with disappointment. "You trained under an archangel and yet you engaged in a fight with a demon outside of your mission. Frankly, you should be ashamed of yourself and thankful you're not to be brought back immediately."
Though his voice remained even, they could tell he was furious. Yeosang especially was shaken and lowered his head in shame. "Stop being so hard on them," Seonghwa sighed. He ushered Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho to the couches since they didn't do anything wrong and had no reason to engage. Then Seonghwa turned to Yunho, looking him up and down yet again as he smirked mockingly. "So, you're a new angel? Did they really send a fledgeling to watch over us? How amusing." Hongjoong rolled his eyes at Seonghwa's unnecessarily demeaning attitude. "Let me guess, twenty-one? Twenty-two? To survey me and my husband? No wonder it took you so long to find us. Of course your apprentice, what was it, Yeosang? Would act out with such a young master like yourself, leading him."
"He's not my apprentice." Muttered Yunho. He tried his best not to seem bothered but the demon was making it extremely difficult for him to stay calm. Especially when Seonghwa put a finger to his mouth and shushed him.
"Nah-ah-ah, hyung is speaking," he grinned.
"No need to be rude about it hyung," Mingi huffed from the couch. Seonghwa craned his neck towards him and sighed.
"I didn't know this had anything to do with you Mingi." He remarked with his brow raised.
"I would say it does!" The brunette asserted, standing up. "Yeosang's been limping this whole time and Jongho could've gotten seriously hurt! These kids are under my care and they could've been severely injured because your son lost control of himself!"
Seonghwa snapped his head towards the human, growling violently at him. Yunho instantly stepped between the two, ready to destroy Seonghwa if he so much as laid a finger on Mingi. "You don't seem too surprised by all of this," remarked Hongjoong.
"If angels exist, why should I be surprised that demons do too? I'm more shocked by the fact you all aren't even trying to hide your powers anymore. Isn't there...I don't know, some sort of code that forbids that?" The demons and angels all glanced between each other. "Right," sighed Mingi. "I'm going to take these two back, you can stay and work out whatever issue you have with them." He said towards Yunho. "Just don't bring any of it back home."
"Mingi..."
"No!" Shouted the brunette. Everyone went silent. "I'm fucking stressed! Do you have any idea how hard I've been trying to hide that I'm terrified? This isn't fun for me! An angel pinned me against a wall and nearly killed me because he thought I was a demon. I feel like I'm going crazy every time my employers come by only to find out they're actually from Hell. Oh, and how could I forget that I was forced to take in someone who's trying to kill my kid every time I turn my back!" Mingi ran his hand through his hair, his eyes becoming misty at everything finally crashing down on him.
"You all...are insane! And so am I for trusting any of you!" Yunho rushed over to Mingi, ignoring the cries of his hyperventilating friend and wrapped him in a hug. Mingi continued to squirm and try to escape his hold yet eventually found himself relaxing.
"This is why our worlds shouldn't combine," murmured Hongjoong. "Humans just can't handle the prospect of angels and demons. Your minds go wild."
"Or," muttered Jongho. "Maybe people just get stressed out when crazies from other dimensions come in and mess with their perfectly normal lives."
"I can't believe we're the same species, you're such a bitch." Jongho found himself growling towards San, which triggered the older demon into hissing back.
The moment he did everyone quickly divulged into a hoard of angry shouting. Yunho was going back and forth with Hongjoong and Seonghwa, Yeosang was adding fuel to the flame by inputting his take, San and Jongho were two seconds away from fighting and Mingi was still clinging to the angel behind him. If this kept going on the house might just explode.
"YAH!" Everyone stopped and turned to Wooyoung. "Calm down, all of you! I get that you all hate each other because of your demon vs angel beef, but pull yourselves together will you?"
San lowered his head. Seonghwa noticed his son's sudden submission and scowled at the blonde human. "Now you have no place in this conversation," he growled. "If it weren't for you making San feel so vulnerable, this wouldn't have happened! You should know your place human, because it is not by my son's side."
Wooyoung flinched, and San could see how badly Seonghwa's words hurt him. He turned to his father, enraged. He wanted to shout at him, insult him and tell him he was wrong, but he had never done such a thing to him and had no clue what to say. "You have no right to say that!" He finally rebutted. "You...You...stupid fattie!"
The sheer looks of disappointment on Yeosang and Jongho's face was immeasurable. Yet to their surprise, the eldest demon actually looked quite shaken, furious even.
Seonghwa's eye twitched. "Stupid...?" The others looked at each other worriedly, Wooyoung letting out a loud screech when he saw his shadow rise and begin to glitch. "FATTIE!?"
San's eyes widened as everyone's shadows began to take the form of long, snake-like creatures creeping towards him, and he quickly raced to the stairs before his father could catch him. However Seonghwa wasn't far behind. "PARK-KIM SAN YOU'D BETTER GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT BEFORE I DRAG YOU BACK TO HELL BY YOUR HAIR!" The room was encased in darkness, blocking every door and window and leaving every possible exit covered. Yunho pulled Yeosang and Jongho into his arms with Mingi, his body illuminating to combat the ever-increasing darkness. Hongjoong had dropped to the ground within mere moments, glaring up at the staircase his son fled to.
"G-Go!" He coughed out, his breath coming out as an icy fog at the immense temperature drop. He managed to flick his wrist, sending out a fire wisp. "F-Follow th-that...I'm g-going to...to calm d-down S-S-Seongh-hwa..." The others wasted no time following his instructions and running after the bright flame.
Wooyoung felt around at the door the wisp faded at, before finally finding the knob. Too distracted by what was going on upstairs, the group sprinted blindly down a long, winding staircase. Yunho's glowing body was the only source of light they had but it was just enough to get a decent grasp of their environment. Jongho's nose wrinkled at the odd smell the room had.
"What the hell is this place?" He muttered.
"It seems to be a basement of sorts," Yunho replied. The angel focussed his powers on moving the light to his fist, before sending it out to brighten the entirety of the room. Yet the second he did, everyone was ready to sprint right back up the stairs.
It was...indescribable. The room was incredibly warm. With black hardwood floors and rose coloured wallpapers - In the centre of the room was a large red bed with various straps hanging from above it and a line of different whips just off to the side. More akin to a torture chamber, there were hammers, rings, clamps and things that could kill someone. The most normal thing in there was a piano just off to the side and a large flat-screen TV with a collection of various DVD's underneath.
Wooyoung, intrigued by the set, walked over to them and picked up one of the discs. "I wonder what- SHIT!" The others whipped their heads in his direction at the poor boy's shriek. Yeosang pushed him aside to marvel at the interesting names on each of the DVDs.
In fact, he looked as though he had struck gold. "You're the school slut, aren't you? Shouldn't this be right up your alley?" No one but Wooyoung heard what he said, and the boy felt himself draw back at his words.
"So...This is the hyung's basement...huh?" Mingi shuddered. Yunho pulled a face at his surroundings.
"Yeah...don't touch anything." Yeosang did quite the opposite, wanting to zip around and look at everything he saw.
"Want to try one of these Jongho?" He teased while pointing to one of the whips on the wall.
"Yeosang I won't hesitate to kill you." As thrilling as all this was, the two adults couldn't help but feel very uneasy. No one had any clue what was going on upstairs, but from the looks of it things weren't going well. There was constant thumping heard followed by faint shouts that sounded more enraged than the last. Mingi pulled himself closer to Yunho, still too terrified to even try to imagine what was going on in the other room.
Wooyoung especially was starting to feel extremely on edge. He just hoped San's father wasn't punishing him too harshly. "This is all my fault..." He whispered. If San hadn't tried to defend him all this time, none of this wouldn't have happened.
"Yes. Yes, it is." Wooyoung glared over at Jongho, but the younger teen only made a face at him and shrugged it off.
Something about this whole situation didn't sit right with Yunho. From the few things Mingi had said about both Seonghwa and Hongjoong, they seemed to be rather level-headed. Aside from the constant need to touch one another, they weren't very aggressive with anything. So why now?
Eventually, everything began to quiet down. Not long after that, Hongjoong finally came down the stairs. Alongside him was Seonghwa, who looked rather exhausted, with a face filled with rising shame. The others all flinched at their change in demeanour but neither of the demons acknowledged it. "I'm sorry about all that," said Hongjoong. "A bad first impression, I know, but trust me it's not always like this."
The others all looked between each other, unsure of what to say. Eventually, Yunho was the one to break the silence when he bowed to Hongjoong and said: "And we apologise for any misfortune we may have brought you. If it's alright, we should take our leave."
Hongjoong gestured to the stairs. Each of them exited without saying a word. "By the way," the demon called just before they reached the top. "You didn't happen to go through any of the doors...did you?"
"Doors?" Yeosang muttered in confusion.
"Nevermind," they all just waved it off. The last to leave was Yunho, who glanced back towards the pair.
"I look forward to the day we meet again." He said.
Hongjoong smiled at him, giving him yet another bow. "As do I. You should come over for coffee sometime." Yunho didn't sense any malice in his offer but still left weary. Then it was just Seonghwa and Hongjoong alone. The redhead's gaze turned stone cold, his eyes travelling to a hidden door behind his piano. He could hear the faint cries of something struggling from behind yet ignored it, focussing instead on his beautiful husband waiting for him on the bed.
"Alright slut, I think you crossed a few lines today, don't you?"
"Hongjoong..." The younger demon lifted his chin with a smirk. There was a malicious glint in his eyes that Seonghwa hadn't seen a long time. It had him on guard while putting him under submission immediately.
The redhead's hands crept around the older demon's throat. "Punishment over. So you know what I'm going to do to you tonight?" Seonghwa gagged when he felt his neck suddenly become constricted. "I'm going to break you till you can do nothing but cry my name and drown you in your own slick. Understood?" His only response was a slight whimper, making Hongjoong growl. "Let me hear you say yes or no. Use your words."
"Understood, master."
------------------------------
Wooyoung didn't waste a second seeing the others out. Instead, all he did was race to San's room. He didn't stop to open the door either. San flinched when he suddenly saw Wooyoung standing in front of him but he quickly looked away.
Wooyoung wasn't having it.
"San," He pulled the demon's face back in his direction. "What happened? Are you alright? No bruises or scars?"
"You thought he hit me?" Questioned San with his brows furrowed.
"Y-Yeah...? Isn't that what all the banging and shouting was for?" San shook his head slowly. He looked down yet again.
"I'm sorry you had to hear all that...Neither of my dads would ever hit me though, don't worry. The banging was all them...We all just got a little out of hand and said things we shouldn't have. I guess now I know why Father is scared to see Dad angry..." San looked as though he had seen death itself just thinking about it. Wooyoung had never seen him so shook before.
The younger teen sat down next to him then brought him into a hug. San sighed as Wooyoung rubbed his back, laying his head on the blonde's shoulder. Wooyoung slowly brought his other hand to San's thigh, caressing it gently. "Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" He asked in a low voice.
San bit his lip and nodded. "There is one thing..."
"Oh?" Wooyoung moved away then slowly leaned in, looking down at San's lips with a smirk. "And what might that be?"
"Cuddles."
Wooyoung nearly choked. "O-Of course!" That's exactly what he was thinking of.
Regardless of whatever Wooyoung's intentions may have been, San still smiled at him. He pulled his friend closer to him and flopped onto the bed. The two of them giggled and San proceeded to curl up to the blonde. Wooyoung wrapped his arms around his torso and snuggled up to him while smiling to himself. He just felt so happy when he was with San and it was a feeling he never wanted to end.
I love you San. I can't wait for the day I get to hear you say it back.
------------------------------
The remaining four entered Mingi's house in silence, with the brunette going right to his room the moment they entered. Yunho sighed. His heart clenched now knowing how Mingi had been feeling this entire time. He didn't need any of this. "Is hyung going to be alright?" Jongho asked him quietly.
Yunho gave him a slight smile before patting his back reassuringly. "I will speak to him and make sure. You two should get some rest, okay?"
"Careful hyung, you might end up sleeping on the couch tonight." Chuckled Yeosang. His only response was a glare from Jongho as he stalked off. "What's his problem...?"
"Yeosang," Yunho said seriously. "Try your best not to provoke him. We don't need the house coming down right now. So please, be aware of what you say." Yeosang gave him an odd look once the other angel walked off. Ultimately, Yeosang gave his words moderate consideration before shrugging them off entirely and walking into his and Jongho's shared room.
He found the teen sitting quietly on the bottom bunk with his hands laced under his chin - clearly in thought. Thoughts he was shaken out of when Yeosang slapped his arm. "What are you so wrapped up in?"
"I'm just thinking," Jongho growled at him. Yeosang rolled his eyes while leaning against the bunk bed ladder.
"About what? Maybe I can help you." Jongho scoffed at this but Yeosang seemed completely serious.
"Come on, tell me what's on your mind."
Though he was hesitant, Jongho eventually sighed in defeat. "I've just been feeling...off lately. Like I want to be angry but have nothing to be angry about. I guess I'm just wondering why...that's all."
"That's it?" Jongho's hands clenched around the bed frame when heard Yeosang sigh in disappointment. "Jeez, I thought it was something important." He muttered. He didn't notice at first, but Jongho's eyes had started to glow. His glare was a frightening shade of yellow, and when Yeosang heard the sound of wood splintering he thought that maybe he should have kept his mouth shut.
He didn't give himself a moment to dodge when Jongho suddenly grabbed his throat and shoved him against the wall. "You're a real pain in the ass, you know that?" Jongho spat. "Never shutting up and constantly getting under my skin. If I had it my way, I would have snapped your neck by now.
Yeosang clawed at Jongho's strong hands clamping over his throat, trying to escape his harsh grip. The angel knew he could probably get away with ease but something about the way Jongho glared at him seemed so captivating. His eyes were just so bold and he couldn't help but enjoy the rough treatment. "Harder Jongho," He whined.
He was dropped within seconds when he heard the younger groan with frustration. Even still, Yeosang smirked at him once he got off the ground. "Well then, now we're even." This time, Jongho didn't respond. He only left in a huff to go get ready for bed.
Once he was gone, Yeosang's hands wandered across his neck then gulped. He really could've killed him then. Even when Jongho gets aggressive, he's never actually laid his hands on Yeosang. As much as he liked being choked like that, Yeosang still wondered if he had gone too far this time.
