*A Mistake*
To anyone who thought Hoseok would bring some useful to Hell, I would like to offer my sincerest apologies cause that's not what's gonna happen.
By the way! I thought it would be fun to maybe do a little Q&A? If you have any questions for me, or any characters, from the main cast to even side characters, feel free to put them here!
˚˙༓࿇༓˙˚˙༓࿇༓˙˚˙༓࿇༓˙˚
It was a nice and sunny day. The brilliant aroma of freshly baked cookies filled a tiny home at the farthest edge of town, making the teen in front of the oven grin as he took them out. Chocolate chip. They were Wooyoung's favourite.
Grabbing his phone, he snapped a quick photo of them, his smiling face in the corner, and sent it to San. After scrolling through their messages, he sighed, brow creased. His boyfriend hadn't been answering any of his texts. "Could he be upset with me?" He pondered aloud, setting the tray of treats onto the counter to cool.
His thoughts would have to wait, as his grandmother had called him from the other room. "Wooyoung!" Wooyoung's attention was quickly taken away from his phone, shoving it in his pocket and scampering off to the living room where the older woman was resting.
"The cookies smell delightful," She gushed. Wooyoung giggled at the praise and let her know that they were cooling off by the stove. "Oh, that's wonderful! Could you get the washing off the line so long? Then I'll make us some tea to go with the biscuits."
Grinning, the teen nodded at her then went off to perform his given task. His grandmother had been very sympathetic to his case, lending him a place to stay after the incident with his mother. As much as Wooyoung adored her, he had to decline. Telling her that he would be staying with his boyfriend for the time being.
His boyfriend that refused to text him.
The idea of San ignoring him, for whatever reason, not only made him worried but a little annoyed as well. While he shook the sheets of anything that may have landed on them, Wooyoung's lip was jutted out with irritation. "What's keeping him so long?" He muttered bitterly. "Is he with someone else...? No that can't be it. He's probably just busy? Maybe his dad doesn't want him to talk to me anymore?"
That only made him more frustrated. Maybe if he texted one more time...
A violent screech startled the basket of washing out of Wooyoung's hands. His head whipped in the direction the sound came from, eyes widening immediately before he sprinted towards the house. "Grandma!" He yelled desperately, searching the building for the old woman.
The living room was cold, nearly freezing, a familiar draft blowing through it. It was a scarily recognisable feeling. A breeze that could only belong to one creature...
A demon stood over Mrs Jung's unmoving body, his hands stained with the crimson contents of her stomach. The insides of her lifeless form had been gouged out, spilling and staining her once pristine carpet and filling the room with a nauseating stench. His large, feathery wings blocked the heinous expression of glee on his face, for seeing his smile would surely add more heartache to the teen.
The sight brought sickness to Wooyoung's stomach, legs wobbling backwards while resisting the urge to hurl. Tears threatened to spill from the corners of his eyes, his light quivers altering the monster of his presence. Despite his better judgement, he stayed put, unable to conceive the notion of running. He would surely be caught.
Yet the demon took note of his hesitance and used it to his advantage. A grin danced on the corners of his mouth, tongue running devilishly across his top lip. "It's been so long," His deep voice sent shivers down the teen's spine, his nerves spiking with every step he took towards him. "Since I've seen a human squirm like that. The chase was delightful." He grinned, an almost childish delight at the memory from moments prior.
His bloody fingers reached for Wooyoung's soft cheeks, a light trail of red following his touch. He had expected the worst. A stab to the gut, maybe even the painful crack of his neck; nothing. The demon had stopped almost all movements.
It was strange the way his gaze had softened. With his hand retracted, the creature took a step back from the shaking human. "You're Wooyoung, right?" His inquiry sounded much more innocent than the devious proclamation from just a few minutes ago. Nevertheless, Wooyoung still nodded, reluctantly of course. Still, it brought a smile to the demon's face.
It was different from his previous one. More cheerful in intent. "Amazing!" He exclaimed to the blonde's immense confusion. "I'm Hoseok!" What was this, a tea party? How could he be so joyous after what had just occurred?
"Y-You...killed my grandma..." Wooyoung stuttered out, not at all interested in the creature's title.
Hoseok looked back down at the body. "Oh...I guess I did," He responded rather nonchalantly. "I was hoping you wouldn't mind. After all, she only had about ten years left anyway." The tranquillity in his voice did little to ease Wooyoung's fears. Darting his eyes around the room, he did his best to look for any possible exit, only for his dreams of escape to be crushed by what Hoseok said next:
"I'll catch you and I won't let you go. Run, and I'll make you regret it."
Keeping him where he stood. Wooyoung was afraid to so much as breathe at this point. The fear in his eyes made Hoseok's grin grow slack, his unethical sense of delight returning. "No Hobi, no!" He scolded himself, shaking his head to do away with whatever intrusive thoughts he had. "You came here to help Sannie, not to kill humans!"
The name of his boyfriend perked Wooyoung's interest. "You know San? Where is he? What happened?"
"Relax, nothing happened...well...okay that's not entirely true..."
He quickly grew tired of the older male's rambles. "Tell me already!" He shouted finally. "What happened to San?" Hoseok sighed. He ran his hands through his hair with a huff, not at all concerned with the way he was staining it.
Not knowing exactly how to put this, Hoseok decided to just be frank about it. "San's been taken by the Devil..."
"WHAT!?"
"I said he's been taken by the Devil."
"I fucking heard you!" His fist had clenched to contain his new wave of irritation. To add insult to injury, Hoseok had perked at the pleasant smell of cookies from the other room and didn't skip a beat leaving Wooyoung standing there just to shove them in his mouth. The teen watched him gorge on the treats he had made to share with his grandma, the realization that she was dead sitting firmly in the back of his mind.
One tragedy at a time. His boyfriend had been captured by a divine figure who most likely wielded power over life and death, older than the Earth itself. Yet this demon came asking Wooyoung, a high school senior with limited knowledge outside of anything that wasn't stripping, for help in deceiving him.
The reasoning behind such a preposterous idea was something Wooyoung was dying to know. Clearing his throat, he brought Hoseok's attention from the biscuits and back over to him. He cringed at the bits of chocolate around his mouth, refusing to forget the crime he had just committed. "Are you on crack or something?" He deadpanned, earning a strange look from the demon. "San's fine, isn't he? You just broke into my house to kill my grandmother and eat my fucking cookies!"
Hoseok scarfed down the remainder of his biscuit and did away with the crumbs on his lips by wiping them off. "San..? Oh right, Sannie! How could I forget?"
This demon was insane.
"Sorry, I get distracted easily," Although he chuckled, Wooyoung remained sceptical, his arms crossed with weary impatience. "Look, I know it may sound difficult to believe. I understand that humans are pretty slow so I'll be patient. But I need your help to get San out of whatever prison he's being held in."
"Stop, rewind," Wooyoung did a little motion with his fingers, backtracking for a moment. "You expect me to go against the Devil?"
"Not at all! I just want you to break San out of his jail!" The blonde remained unamused and it was clear he didn't believe him. So with a sigh, Hoseok snapped his fingers, a screen flickering above them. His eyes grew dark as he listened to the sounds of the picture behind him, keeping his head down.
Yet Wooyoung couldn't look away. An uncomfortable knot of dread filled his stomach, arms clutching his sides to attempt to comfort himself in some sort of way. But nothing could make it okay in any way. "T-That's San?"
By now, the demon looked completely deranged. Eyes filled with a furious intensity that his twitching form matched. Wooyoung had no clue what he was mumbling about, or rather, who he was speaking to as the room was completely empty, all he was sure of was that he was in trouble.
"Yes. And we're wasting time," Clamping his hand into a fist, Hoseok's hologram disappeared. "Either come with me, or you do your best to forget San ever existed because chances are, he might not come back."
To turn away would be the worst decision of Wooyoung life but it would also be the smarter one. Which is most likely why he eagerly nodded his head, eliciting a bright grin from the demon ahead of him. "Excellent! Come on, come on, come on!" He exclaimed, as if they were getting ready to go on vacation.
Without much time to contemplate what he had just agreed to, Wooyoung was suddenly yanked towards the demon, body nearly smacking into his broad chest in the process. No further words were exchanged between the two, not that Wooyoung would have gotten the chance, of course. A firm hand was quickly clamped over his mouth to prevent any panicked cries from escaping it.
Why would he be crying? Well when a swirling vortex consumed the floor and thrusted you right into its endless and terrifying darkness, you would scream too.
Thankfully, the terror didn't last long and Wooyoung was soon tossed to the ground. He groaned at his harsh landing, while Hoseok fluttered down right next to him, smiling. Obviously, he didn't appreciate the way the demon giggled as he brushed himself off but decided it would be best not to comment on it.
They seemed to have landed behind a building in a city one may find on Earth. Its overly dark colour pallet being the only detractor.
"Hoseok!" A new voice called. Their attention was stolen by her and she quickly scampered over to them. Wooyoung examined her long purple hair and strange, soulless eyes. Other than the rather frightening detail that she was a demon, she was extremely beautiful. "What in the world is this..."
The feeling wasn't mutual apparently. Moonbyul regarded Wooyoung with the same heinous disgust that Seonghwa did when he first laid eyes on him yet her gaze managed to be even more unsettling. Nevertheless, Hoseok proudly pushed the boy forward as if to show him off like bringing him here was an accomplishment. "A human!"
"I know Hobi! I want to know why you brought this thing here!" That kind of hurt...
"He's going to get San out, trust me!"
Wooyoung cleared his throat. "You still haven't explained what you want me to do. I can't fight anyone." This time, it was Hoseok's turn to look confused.
"What do you mean?" He said incredulously, creasing his brow and resting a hand on his hip. "I've seen your powers before!"
"You're insane," Wooyoung growled. "I don't have any. I'm a human being!"
What the demon said next was truly baffling to him. "The magic you have over San! How else would he submit like that when he's around you?" This time, the perplexity of his statement made both Wooyoung and Moobyul pause. They shared a strange look, silently agreeing that this probably wasn't true before actively shrugging it off.
Moonbyul pinched the bridge of her nose, muttering about how they didn't have time for this. "Alright listen, Hoseok, you can't bring humans into Hell. I know you think it can help, but there are so many demons who will want to eat his soul!"
"And?" Hoseok retorted, which wasn't exactly what Wooyoung wanted to hear. "You just focus on getting Joong. Find Seonghwa, I don't know!" Moonbyul was obviously taken aback by how harsh his tone sounded. He wasn't usually one to snap but it was understandable why he would be upset. However, noticing the frown on the woman's face, Hoseok's expression softened. "Sorry, Noona."
"Noona?" She scoffed. "You're like eight thousand years older than me. Don't worry about it, Hobi. Good luck getting San out. And human...don't die. I'm sure there's someone on Earth who wouldn't be too happy if you did."
Despite that bit of contempt in her comment, Wooyoung still nodded her off. He could only pray that he would be able to take San back home with him. Any longer than this and he wasn't sure what he would do. Gazing up at the frightening building, the top seemed nowhere in sight.
Nevertheless, Wooyoung was still determined to help his boyfriend. "Hold on San, I'll get you out if it's the last thing I do."
------------------------------
A fist collided with Jinyoung's face, his body flying towards the granite floors beneath him whilst the demon's above attempted to control their fury to little avail.
"You fucking bastard!" Shouted Jackson, held back only by his boyfriend's grip. Though even Lay had to admit, he found it rather therapeutic watching the demon of darkness get pummeled like that. "How could you do that to Seonghwa? He trusted you! Just because he wouldn't sleep with you? You're fucking deplorable!"
Lay had heard what happened from Kai, a rather chatty member of Jimin's court, and when recounting the events to Jackson, he was rightfully vexed.
"I didn't think he would say no..."
"You didn't think he would say no? YOU DIDN'T THINK HE WOULD SAY NO? THE MAN IS FUCKING MARRIED YOU ASSHOLE!" Despite the way Jackson yelled, Jinyoung remained firm in his wildly flawed stance. Grimacing, he stood back to his feet and clicked his jaw back into place.
"Your point being?" He retorted. "Marriage is just a title. You're both delusional if you think they'll stay together for the rest of eternity! He's Park Seonghwa for crying out loud, I bet he's having the time of his life in there, surrounded by sluts willing to suck him off whenever he wants. He should be thanking me..."
When a low hiss, reeking with disapproval, came from Lay, it was clear he had crossed a line. "Park-Kim," He first stated. "Get it right or you may as well not say it at all. Whatever reason you had, doesn't matter. You messed up Jinyoung and if the hand of fate doesn't punish you then I'll see to it myself that you're thrown into the seventh layer for this!"
Neither had ever heard Lay threaten someone before and it was safe to say they were at a loss for words. Jinyoung was especially taken aback, while Jackson had a much different reaction. "Fuck, babe that was so hot." Lay sent him a disappointed frown but it eventually faded into a smile as he blushed at the comment.
Clearing his throat, Jinyoung regained their attention. "Fine, I'll take you to get him. But if you get killed in the process it's not my problem." Both of the older demons rolled their eyes with a growl. Nevertheless, they followed Jinyoung through the portal he created that led to the Master of Seduction's lair.
Even from the outside, the heated atmosphere of their surroundings clouded their minds. Poisoning them with all sorts of lustrous thoughts that could bring the weak-willed to their knees. "Let's be quick about this, I don't want to end up sucking off an incubus."
"Do you have to be so crude?" Muttered Jinyoung in response to Jackson, right as he took the first step through the doors. There were two ways they could go about this:
They either negotiate with them, or someone dies. Walking away wasn't an option when they knew their friend was being taken advantage of. Both Jackson and Jinyoung were prepared for their ladder, their eyes going alight with the intention to kill. While Lay decided that at least one of them would have to be civil. He was ready to deescalate the situation if needed but wouldn't hesitate to fight if it came down to it.
Creeping through the halls, Jackson stayed ahead of the two before they neared a door. It was highly decorated compared to the ones they had passed, which could only mean it belonged to the master himself. So with a deep breath, they all pushed through.
Almost immediately, the heads of every demon in the room turned their way. "Jackson!" They all exclaimed, eliciting a groan from the man in question and a rather sceptical look from his partner.
"Have something you want to tell me?" Lay asked, arms crossed and a stern look of disapproval growing on his face.
"No, not really..."
Jimin turned away from his victim and beamed brightly at the intrusion. "Ah! Guests! Look Hwa, a few of your friends came to play with us." Instantly, the trio's attention turned to the man Jimin had been straddling on top of: Seonghwa. He looked beyond exhausted. Face puffy and eyes red from his tears, he didn't even have the energy to look up.
Jackson's fist clenched, anger coursing through his veins at what he was seeing. "Get away from him you bastard!" He shouted. That was what finally caused Seonghwa to look at them, head slowly shifting to the side with his chest heaving in and out for the slightest bit of air.
The state he was in was too much to look at, even Jinyoung grimaced. "So noisy, now I see why Key prefers you." This time, it was Lay who snarled, much to the amusement of the incubus'.
"Listen-"
The demon of poison was cut off when Jinyoung stepped forward. Both he and Jackson shared a puzzled look but it was one Jinyoung barely acknowledged. "Let's get something straight, Jimin," He began, crossing his arms and keeping his expression as deadpan as possible. "Out of all demons in Hell, you chose Park Seonghwa? Think about that, really think about that for a moment." They could hear Seonghwa scoff in the back.
"And what about it? Jealous I have him and you don't?" The incubus' jeer was met with a light chuckle from him.
"Jealous? Never. Frankly, neither of us has or can have him. After all, he's married." It was the first time Jinyoung had ever acknowledged Hongjoong and Seonghwa's relationship in a positive light. Though it seemed a little backhanded in this case. Regardless, all three of his peers were rather surprised. "Besides, I've got a man of my own. He's a principal actually. If anything, you're the only lonely one here, babe."
Jimin's tongue darted out, a deep hiss following. "Boys," He growled, beckoning his entourage of slut's attention. "Master wants a few new playthings, be dears and grab them for me?" Lay yelped and quickly stepped back when the incubus' began to circle them.
Jackson held him behind, ready to beat them to the ground if they so much as touched his partner but Jinyoung had a different plan in mind. "Do that, and I'll get Hoseok."
Just like that, they all paused. Even Jimin halted all movement. "He would come all the way out here..." He spat back, although his delivery was wavering with uncertainty.
"He's actually looking for Seonghwa right now, wanted to stop by and said hi. Imagine how upset he'll be when he finds out you have him. You wouldn't want to make him mad, now would you?"
His silence gave Jinyoung the only answer he really needed. "Give us back Seonghwa." There was hesitance but eventually, Jimin nodded at two of his lackeys to hand the demon back to them. Doing as they were told, they lifted Seonghwa off the ground and pulled him over to Jackson and Lay.
"It's been a pleasure, master of seduction." Said Jinyoung, trying his hardest not to turn around and engulf his friend in an embrace.
"Get out of my sight before I change my mind." Not wanting to test his patience any more than they already had, Jinyoung made sure to teleport them a good distance from the lair.
"Is Hoseok actually looking for him?" Jackson had questioned. At that, Jinyoung only shrugged.
"As if I know. It's just a fact that little Jiminie is scared to see him mad."
A fuzzy feeling filled Seonghwa's stomach from the quick and sudden movement, bringing him to his senses somewhat. He was clung to Lay's shirt, with the eldest of the three taking it upon himself to keep him calm before the inevitable storm to come.
"Hwa?" He said gently, stroking his dark hair. Hand travelling to wipe away some of the tears, Seonghwa jolted at the sudden contact. It didn't fail to worry them.
"L-Lay...He...T-They..." He didn't have to say anything else, not that he could with the way his eyes began to well once more. Hastily, Jackson joined his partner in comforting the youngest demon, holding him and whispering things to help him calm down.
Jinyoung was the only one who stood off to the side. His heart churned at how dishevelled Seonghwa looked. Never in his life had he ever seen him cry like this before...Yet he still couldn't find the words to apologise.
Regardless of his lack of initiative, Jinyoung's feelings would have to wait. "Where have you been? I've been running circles around Hell trying to find you!" The furious woman had appeared from a portal just a few feet away, fuming to the point where her light purple hair had shifted to a violent shade of black. "Do you even have any idea what happened?"
"Moonbyul-"
"Shut up!" Shouted Moonbyul. Everyone's attention went to her as her yell had interrupted any other conversation. Yet she didn't care. "You promised you'd protect him," She continued, accusing eyes glaring in Seonghwa's direction. The younger demon was startled back when she stormed up to him, grabbing him by the collar to yank him to her level. "You said you'd keep him safe and look what happened! I knew I never should've trusted you, Park!"
"Easy there, Moon," Urged Jackson, doing his best to pull her away. Even still, it didn't stop her from glaring daggers in Seonghwa's direction. "He needs a moment."
Scoffing at such a notion, Moonbyul pushed him away. "He needs a moment? What about Hongjoong or San? They're in The Devil's Tower, only Satan knows what they could be going through! Meanwhile, this unfaithful douche has spent his entire time here getting fucked."
"Moonbyul! You can't just-"
"It's alright Lay," Seonghwa made sure to keep him assured. Any more tension and there was no way they would get anything done. If it was necessary, he could always explain to her what happened later. For now, he just had to make sure they were able to get his family out.
With the way Seonghwa attempted to deescalate the situation, Moonbyul finally took a moment to look over his utterly wrecked form. It was clear now that he wasn't having a fun time in there and the realisation made her bite her lip with slight regret. "Yah, let's go. Hoseok's already made his way in. He brought some blonde, human twink to help him and I'm not sure how long it'll last."
Blonde...? Twink...? Creasing his brow, Seonghwa pondered why that sounded so familiar. Until it finally hit him. "HE BROUGHT WOOYOUNG TO HELL?"
"You know him?" Inquired Moonbyul. She wasn't expecting him to be familiar with the small creature, so what he said next truly shocked her.
"He's San's boyfriend!"
"Boyfriend?" Each of them exclaimed in unison. It wasn't long before he was bombarded with questions. Ranging from worry to excitement and even irritation that he had allowed their little Sannie to date a human. All of which Seonghwa wasn't keen on answering just yet.
"Yes yes, he's dating an unemployed twig of a human but he'll never get to see him again and you lot will never get to interrogate him if we don't get going!"

Good news, my exams are over and now I've got 3 weeks to waste my life away :D
Seeing as this chapter came out on Sunday instead of Thursday like I usually do, I just want to say that I won't be sticking to an update schedule anymore. I don't want to rush these last few chapters. I've been doing quite a bit of thinking during these 2 weeks away and I'll save the majority of my thoughts for the end of the book since I've got a ton to say.
It's safe to say I'm not necessarily happy with the direction I took the story in? As I said, I'll elaborate on what I mean later but I'm so thankful you all have stayed to read this far! Your comments seriously brighten my day and I'm pretty sure I would have stopped writing if there weren't so many amazing readers! I do hope you all stay for the end since I've got quite a lot of things to lay down as well.
