Epilogue
They say, sometimes to live is the most courageous thing to do but I would beg to differ; to love someone when you have been brutally betrayed, when you had given your love all you had and it had snatched everything of yours, is the most courageous thing to do. And I am proud to be her partner-in-crime as she did the most courageous thing.
Khushi Gupta - the name which caused waves in the Television Industry when she entered the industry - is the very epitome of strength for me, by the way she handled every controversy of her life and maybe that is the reason why it was so hard for me to see in her vulnerable worst.
Anjali Singh Raizada, my dear sister, had found the same fate, one un-fateful night, due to abandonment by her then boyfriend. How people forget the ones who love them when they are in throes of depression to give up their life is beyond me but I do understand that it would take immense sorrow and agony for anyone to take that horrid step which snatches the light of the lives associated with them.
When Khushi's maid was shouting that she was not opening the door, I immediately went back into the time when Di's maid called me up to inform the same. The fear, the anxiety, and the pain were back to haunt me as I broke the door to witness the same sight I had witnessed years ago.
But destiny decided to be merciful and not bestow another scar on my conscience as Khushi survived, but unfortunately slid into a comatose state. The statements of the maid, the diagnosis of the doctors, the wails of her mother and the death of her father pointed at one thing - the ruthless and heartless way she was treated and used by all around her, albeit for different reasons and intentions.
She proved me right when she rose awake from the coma for her unborn and be her own harbinger of justice. There was something so heartbreaking yet heartening about it that I could not help but admire her. To love for a child, the symbol of someone's betrayal and at a time of such turmoil, needed great will and she had it all.
To stand in front of one's love and bring them down in front of several is probably the hardest thing for any person in love to do but for a mother, who almost lost her chance with her child due to a man's inability to respect dignity and loyalty, it would have been a perfect revenge.
Khushi had the rare ability to accept her mistakes without making any excuses, right from the beginning, which ever managed to bowl me over. Warmth swelled in my heart when she appreciated my gestures by ignoring others' comments and guided me inside the ultrasound theater. In the world which bows down and tries to appease others, Khushi was truly a gem to admire.
Her confession of love proved to be both a boon and a bane - a boon to be at the receiving end of such blissful emotion and a bane of guilt that maybe I had given her the hope to love her without any intention of it and my lack of reciprocation only added to my guilt. It would have been unimaginably difficult to love a man with the same name who had once broken her and I am sure that even I had broken her in the moment.
The events which followed ensured that I would reciprocate. It is almost like the destiny had conspired along with Khushi to make me fall for her open-mindedness and her love for me but I certainly do not complain getting such love in my life.
Unlike many, Khushi did not take the rejection as a blow to our friendship and distance herself. She balanced her love and friendship in an unfathomably wonderful way and carved her niche in my heart. Seeing her struggle for her breath as she pushed her baby in the labor, I just knew what would tether her to me - a confession of love.
The journey thereafter wasn't an easy one either. Controversies, taunts, looks, whispers and prodding followed but we had each others' back and a lovely induction into our lives - Amisha Gupta Raizada - the only good thing Arnav Malhotra had ever given the world, except for uniting me and Khushi.
Journey further ahead wouldn't be easy either, given that we are expecting once again but I am sure that every moment spent in the ecstatic shade of love was memorable and worth every struggle.
Signing off,
Arnav Singh Raizada
