You all must be laughing seeing the number of days between the first entry and this one. But blame my practicals! They went on for so long and I haven't recovered from them fully; my back is still a mess despite the hot compresses that I'm taking. Trying my best to avoid painkillers as I don't think they are good for my health in the long run. So yeah, here I stand.

Don't worry; I am not here to yap about my sorry life. I here because I have some updates as I have caught up with some of the stories on my reading list — Celestial Mechanics by alpaljames, Sporefall by AwgawinFiresnap, Mourninghelm Mysteries by Author_Deliah_Rose, Ruin and Reign by Shreya_VA, The Helsing Contact by the-reticent-seer  and Pixelated by Carolyn_Hill (I had read this one two days earlier if I am not wrong). Tomorrow, I will be reading Nightwalker by blackrxse05, Pretty Dead Things by Nicoismysenpai, Damnatio Memoriae by empiresofwater, Ambrosia's Kiss by Pulchra_Aurum, The Perfects by Nyhterides and The Dead Write Their Epitaphs by ZoeAlamort.

Honestly, people are killing it this year with their entries. Take Celestial Mechanics on one hand. It's a dark post apocalyptic story and though the setting is something I don't read a lot, it is quickly becoming a favourite because of the writer. The relationship between Kor and Bene has all my heart; they are literally playing with my heartstrings. I'm quite attached to them already. And the yearning, oh gods, the yearning. The sapphic yearning here is top notch. Won't say anything more and spoil it. If you wanna know more, go and read it! I'll be attaching the links in the inline comments.

Sporefall does body horror really well. The descriptions are vivid and grotesque. It's very tactile in the sense that you can almost feel it. The atmosphere so far is really great. Besides, it's plenty of fun to read from the pov of a non-human/former human character. A new character and been introduced and their banter with Mya (the protagonist) was so much fun to read. I love the conversations present in this book and how dark I am anticipating it would get.

Ruin and Reign was quite lighter in comparison to the other two. I am enjoying the dynamics amongst Eleanor, Veyron and Cassiel. They are already very distinct and layered characters. A lot of foreshadowing is going on which leaves the reader with a thousand burning questions (to mention them would be sorta spoilery I think). I really don't like Veyron so far, but that is to be expected. He is a freaking demon, after all, with no idea about boundaries. Let's see if he will redeem in the future. Plotwise, not a lot has happened but I can feel something big coming out way very soon. Who will say that the writer of this story had taken a long break and this is her first story in a longtime?

The Mourninghelm Mysteries is just starting. The opening chapter is already so good. It sets up the stage for conflict, with a highly moody atmosphere. I loved how sinister some parts of it felt. That part was really well down. The ending had a kind of a cliffhanger which intrigues me a lot. This beginning reminded me a lot of the Locke and Key graphic novels by Joe Hill. I don't why, but they do. Maybe it's because of the key element. Or maybe it's just the general vibes.

The Helsing Contract does not have a proper chapter out yet, but the contract is up. And it was such an unique touch to add it! I am very excited to read this one as it has vampires in it. I will literally read anything (other than romance) which involves vampires. They are so damn cool.

Last but not the least is Pixelated. This book is a portal fantasy of sorts which feels like a warm hug on a rainy day. The first chapter highlighted some amazing facets of grief and the character work done is really good. I especially love how many cats there are in this story! Love me a good cat (though one of them here is purple and sassy). The chapter ended in a cliffhanger, and I am dying to read more!
