Sahara's pov
It has been a few years since our encounter with GUN, the kids growing into teens, but the school finally figured out the kids weren't human, so at least they no longer had to wear ridiculous wigs, but there was many times that all 3 came back battered and bruised. I always healed them, and they told me it was ok, that they could take it, but i couldn't help but worry as i hear the door open. I go to the door and i see sonic and silver carrying thier eldest brother in." What happened this time?" I softly ask as i scoop up shadow from them both and sonic says." Shadow shoved us away when the whole football team went after us, he never went to fight them, it took silver having enough and blasting them back with his telekinesis. By then he could barely stand though." I nod as my magic softly feels over him and heals his injuries, and i ask," why do the kids keep attacking you? Why do the teachers not stop it?" "Cause we aparently don't belong, never have, according to everyone. I don't know how to make them think differently of us." " i have an idea, i'll be joining you guys for school tomorow, it's about time i finally do something about this." The boys notice how my eyes turn royal purple and i lay shadow down on the couch. Later he comes to with a groan and i smile." It's ok, i've got you shadow. How do you feel?" "Sore, but ok, it doesn't hurt anymore." I nod," i healed the injuries, the general stiffness should fade by tommorow. Which i'll be going with you guys tommorow, i've had enough of my kids getting hurt." Shadow smiles and hugs me," thanks mom." I smile and i hug him back.
That next day
I quickly get myself ready, making all of the boy's lunch. Once they rush out i hand them thier breakfast, which for the speedsters is sugary cereal, since they need all the calories they can get to keep running, for silver it's some basic toast with butter. I grab some toast for myself as the kids eat and i wrap a shawl around my wings, ready for the day. Sonic quickly comes over saying," we're ready!" I nod," come on guys, lets head out." We walk to the school since i cannot keep up with the two speedsters. As i walk into the school i see the multitude of stares lock onto my boys. Most filled with anger and fear. I pull them close to me, gripping the edges of my shawl. If i felt the need to, i would finally let everyone see who i really am. If i needed to, i would protect my kids. I go with them to thier classes, after a momentary fight with their teachers about the kids being old enough to be on thier own, but then i simply state i'm worried for thier safety. They stop argueing after that point, luckily and one of thier classmates poked around with shadow and his patience was definitetly limited. I grab his arm before he can summon a spear.
"Remember our training Shadow, they're not worth the energy spent." He sighs, but he grips my arm and calms down. I smile with pride as i then glare at the boy," if i were you, i'd be running, cause all i need to do is say one word and my boys know how to defend themselves." They fled quickly. I sigh in relief, before pulling the boys close." Does everyone act like that?" Silver says," not the younger kids, but all the kids our age and up challenge us and want us to beat them in an unfair fight." Sonic then pipes up," we haven't taken any challenges for fear of what they may do." I think it over," how about today we go see if anyone needs help. We can start trying to win hearts and minds."
All three of them perk up thier ears, i chuckle, shadow looking to the two of them and they nod." Lets do it, we only have one more class anyways." I nod and a short while passes as the final bell rings, and the 4 of us head outside."so how do we start momma?" "Lets try just heading home for now, and if we see a police car or firetruck we can help out."
"Yay!" Sonic yells as we start walking home.
As we walked, i could see all 3 hedgies flicking thier ears around, until Shadow says.
"I hear a siren, a few blocks off."
I smile and i say." You three be careful, i'll catch up soon."
Sonic smiles and revs up for a second before zooming off in a blue blur, Shadow quickly following, before Silver takes off and flies after his brothers. There was much they don't know yet.... the Void has not needed me for a long time. For that i was grateful. It was finally allowing me to have the family i had been refused for so long.
I knew it wouldn't last forever. But i couldn't be more grateful as i grip a small pendant. The once brown coloring blossoming with my purple and green magic, the gentle but adventurous energy inside filling me with Determination as i pull on an old mask, carved with a simple face on it before pulling off my shawl and flying off after them.

Sonic's pov
We quickly catch up with the source of the siren, to see it to be a firetruck, zooming through the streets. I look to shadow, and i softly hear, in my own mind.
|We should try to talk to someone in the truck, maybe we can get there first and help out civilians.|
I gasp as i look to silver and he nods, we definitely heard that, but i nod to shadow and i grab Silver's arm, speeding up to catch up to it. Once we catch up, Silver grabs onto the window and i zoom ahead of the truck, while Shadow takes the other side and Silver yells over the siren.
"Hey, where's the fire? We wanna help!"
The firefighter in the window looked awestruck, and he finally said.
"Two blocks down, what are you?"
Silver hastily responds," we'll explain later, but we're big fans of what you guys do. Shadow, Sonic, go on ahead, i'll make sure they catch up!"
I nod to Silver. His mind powers would be better for this, i focus on the road and i blitz ahead the two blocks in seconds before spotting the smoke. I stop and i rip off my jacket,putting it on back around my neck so it covers my mouth and nose. I spot Shadow doing the same before both of us burst inside and zoom up the stairs till we see smoke pooling in a room.
Shadow waves for me to stand back and i listen as he touches the door and he says." It's hot. The fire's right on the other side, likely starving for oxygen."
"Then we can't open the doors. Can we open the windows to get in?"
Shadow nods and i stand back as Shadow slashes at the window and shatters it, and he speedily zooms outside, shattering any cloudy window he can see.
I hear a massive boom, but i can feel that Shads is unscathed, so i zoom outside, slipping into the first window with ease.
"Hello! Anyone in here?"
I listen, my ears flicking around in hyper speeds. Nobody that i can hear.
I zip to the next window to see the truck arriving and Silver flies up to us.
"What's going on?"
"Flame was pressurized, shads vented the pressure and i'm putting out the fire in every room"
To demonstrate, i run around the room quickly, creating a vaccum in the room and it dies out. With a quick peek in hiding spots i don't see anyone, and light coming from under the door.
"I hope nobody's in the hall."
Silver nods and says," stand back, i'll open the door and let the pressure vent into here."
I nod and i pull him into a corner as he opens the door with telekinesis and the pressure nearly takes the door off. But i zip up and down the hall and quickly puts it out.
"There, hall's clear."
I then see the fireman open the hallway door and gaze at Silver and i in suprise and i smirk, rushing out into the next room.
Silver pulls his jacket into the same position and follows me.
The fire fighters head to where Shadow was and helps a few people out, and shads and i eliminate the flames in record time. From there, we head down, Shads and i both covered in soot and panting from the smoke we likely inhaled despite our makeshift masks. One of the firemen walk up to us 3 as we sit down and let our energy come back from so much hard running when he says.
"I don't know where you came from, or how you knew we needed the help, but thank you hedgehogs.
Make sure you three take care of yourself and wait a few days to heal from the smoke inhalation."
I smile," yeah, we will, but we're always happy to help. We'll be around if we hear the sirens again."
"How about we give you guys our frequency number? That way if you hear the dispatch go off you can be there however fast you can move. Also who's who here?"
Shadow smirks and silver says." Shadow's the oldest, Sonic and i were born the same year, but a few months apart." The firefighter nods as he hands me a sticknote with a number on it. I take it and i hold onto it till we're able to leave. We find mom hidding a bit away from the crowd that was steadily dispersing, and i pass her the number.
" one of the firefighters said it was a frequency number, so that we could tune in and help out when we hear it go off."
Mom smiles and nods." Now lets get home, i know a shortcut. And no running, all 3 of you. You need rest after what you all did."
"But mom-"
"Nope, i'm not hearing it Silver and Sonic, lets head home my little heros." She walks further down the empty street, and we follow as a black portal whisks us up and lands us at home.
|Huh, i was sure that would take us faster|
Silver and shadow look to me, and this time, i hear silvers voice.
| can you guys hear me?|
We nod to silver.
|how?| shadow asks.
|our power must be getting really stronger together if we're able to hear each others thoughts|
Shadow sighs.
| this will take some getting used to| he says to us. All i can do is nod as we head to our room, all tired from the rough day, but hey, we helped firefighters, we were closer to our goal then we ever thought.
