~7~
I was practically vibrating in my seat, and I hadn't even noticed until Midoriya pointed it out. He was also shaking, but for very different reasons. Midoriya is simply a ball of nervous energy, and he was shaking out of nervousness and maybe some fear. As for me, I was shaking because Present Mic was standing before us, giving us the rules of the exam.
I absolutely adore Present Mic, I'm not quite sure why, but his energy and the way he's able to interact with his fans is admirable, to say the least. I am the total opposite, I do not seem approachable in the least, and while my appearance is probably a big reason why I seem unapproachable, my personality sucks. I'm petty, irritating, and a major dick to those who piss me off.
Midoriya was also elated to see Present Mic, granted instead of shaking in his presence (even though he already was) he decided to mumble under his breath. I pretended to not know him when several sets of eyes landed on him, one boy, in particular, stood up, his hand raised in a civilized manner.
"Excuse me sir," He said, light reflecting off of his glasses. "But I find it extremely hard to concentrate with the green-haired kid's mumbling."
Mic turned to Midoriya. "Quiet down and pay attention, ya' dig?"
Midoriya slapped a hand over his mouth, mumbling one last sentence. "Present Mic just talked to me..."
I shook my head, focusing back on Present Mic as he explained how many points each robot would be worth. I grinned at this, robots were perfect for my quirk, this test really couldn't be any better.
"And lastly, in front of each of you is a card," Present Mic sang. "On that card is the battle center you'll be sent to? Sound good?"
"Yeah!" I chirped, then noticing that no one else replied.
"Alright!" He exclaimed, crossing his arms at the forearms. "The buses outside are labelled according to the battle centers on your cards after you get off the bus you will all be allowed to change and then the exam will begin shortly after that!"
Midoriya tapped my shoulder, showing me his card. In turn, I showed him mine, grinning when I saw that our battle centers matched. We're both headed to battle center B.
"I'm guessing that the battle centers we were assigned to were chosen at random," I whispered, cringing at my awkward junior high photo on my card. "And I doubt the school knows much about us, otherwise they probably would've taken extra precaution to separate us from people we know."
Midoriya nodded. "That's what I thought too."
"Anyway, let's head outside," I said, standing from my seat like everyone else in the room. "We have a test to take!"
Midoriya nodded, following after me with a nervous grin. "Y-yeah!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I stood outside of battle center B's gates with Midoriya and the other test-takers, dressed in a completely different set of clothes. Now I was wearing a gray tracksuit, a black belt sat around my waist, several pouches hanging off my waist. I'm sure it's pretty obvious to Midoriya what I have in those pouches.
I decided that now would be a good time to size up the competition. Certain people had obvious physical quirks, so some were easy to guess, others were not. I continued my scan until my eyes landed on that girl from earlier. I grinned to myself, seeing that she was alone.
Grabbing Midoriya's arm, I began making my way over to her.
"W-where are you going?" Midoriya asked.
"To ask that girl for her number," I replied. "Duh."
I opened my mouth to yell out to her, but I was promptly intercepted by a literal wall of a teen. The glasses-wearing guy towered over Midoriya and me, sunlight glinting off his glasses and obscuring his eyes. He made a chopping motion with his hand, blocking our path and blocking the girl from our line of seat.
"I hope you're not going over to disturb her," He said, pushing up his spectacles. "She looks like she's preparing herself."
Midoriya spluttered. "W-we weren't... I d-didn't mean to-!"
"I just wanted to talk to her," I shrugged, staring up at him. "But hey, while we're over here chatting, you look pretty cool, could I have your number?"
"I do not see why not," He replied formally, pulling out his phone. "I am always up for making a new friend."
"Awesome!" I chirped, finding his actions strange, but in a cute way. "I'm Tora Tsujihara, and the shy one is Izuku Midoriya."
"My name is Tenya Iida," He replied. "And may I have your numbers as well?"
"Sure," I grinned pulling out my phone. "But I asked for yours first."
He nodded, taking my phone from me and punching in his contact information. He then handed me his phone and I did the same with my information, also snapping a decent selfie to put on my contact in his phone.
"Can I take a picture of you?" I asked, holding up my phone.
He nodded, standing completely still as I snapped a photo of him. I saved the photo with a smile, laughing at his stoic expression. Afterwards, Midoriya and Iida exchanged information, which didn't take long at all.
"Sorry for bothering you," I said to Iida. "And good luck on the exam."
"Good luck you two." He replied before walking off.
It was only now, as I stared at his retreating figure that I got an idea of what his quirk was. He had exhaust pipes sticking out of his bulky calves, like he had engines in his legs. Knowing how strange quirks could be, it was entirely possible that he did have engines in his legs.
Next, my gaze landed on the short girl from earlier. She stood right in front of the gates, rocking on her heels as she waited. I lightly bumped my elbow into Midoriya, his eyes quickly landing on the girl. I smirked at him and he shook his head.
"Don't!" Midoriya hissed quietly.
I went to approach her, my mouth open as I pulled out my phone. But I never got the chance to ask for her number because Present Mic's quirk amplified voice interrupted me.
"Are you ready?!" He screamed as the gates began to creak. "Good luck!"
Midoriya flinched, his face frozen with fear.
The gates creaked open and I pulled Midoriya inside, forcing his feet to move.
"Sorry to ditch you Midoriya," I said to him, still pulling him along. "But now I have to make sure I pass, you better pass too!"
I let his arm go, shooting him a cheeky grin as I took off at full speed. There's a limited amount of robots around and I have to make sure I get as many as I can before the time runs out. I don't have time to be worried about Midoriya and myself, though I will admit that I'm worried about him. He's quirkless, I'm not sure how he'll pass, right now he needs a miracle.
I turned into an alley, coming face to face with a robot worth two points. I cheered inwardly at my luck.
The robot towered above me (I'm not short by any means, but the thing is huge) seeming to be analyzing me. I shoved my hands into two of the pouches, my hand beginning to re-shape the small metal objects. The robot, however, seemed sick of waiting as it began to approach me, raising both its shielded arms. I brought my hands out of my pockets, pouncing on an arm of the robot. I grabbed the arm, using my quirk to weaken the bonds of the metal and ripping it out of its socket as hard as I could.
I leapt away with the limb, grinning victoriously. Then I let my quirk do the rest, reshaping the metal until I held a very crudely made Japanese katana and a small shield. The robot who's arm I stole rolled towards me and I raised my sword, jumping towards the robot and slicing it's head off. The head made a loud 'THUD' as it hit the ground, and I rested my sword on my shoulder, letting out a sigh.
"One down," I muttered to myself. "Many more to go."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"How wonderful!" Nezu chirped as he held a hot cup of tea in his paws. "There certainly are a unique bunch of quirks this year!"
"You've got that right!" All Might laughed, his boisterous voice echoing through the room.
"Things will be close this year," Midnight sighed, crossing her arms. "There are so many talented kids."
"Indeed." Cementos agreed with a curt nod.
A sudden commotion on screen brought all of the teachers attention to one student in particular.
They watched as a girl with long lavender hair and a face littered with piercings slashed off the limbs and heads of several robots. They watched as the metal sword in her hand began to change shape. Her face scrunched up in concentration, the lump of metal warping before their very eyes until it resembled a spear. She reared her arm back, running towards a two point robot in front of her before letting loose a strange war cry.
"YEET!"
The spear severed the robot's head, making its body topple with a thud. She rubbed her hands together, cracking her knuckles before running off in search of her next target.
"Mr. Mic," Nezu said after taking a sip of tea. "How long is left in the exam?"
"Just over five minutes!" Mic chirped.
"I think it's about time to send out the zero point bot," He smiled. "Don't you?"
"Yeah!" Present Mic sang. "Time to spice things up!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ground began to shake beneath me, and I looked around for the source, wondering if this was part of the exam or if this area of Japan was having another earthquake (which is common). I didn't have to wait long for my answer though as a shadow began to cover me.
Turning around I laid eyes on the gigantic robot, finding my mouth to be dry.
"You've got to be kidding me," I awed. "That's the zero point robot?!"
Crowds of people ran past me, and I was going to turn and run too, that is until I spotted Midoriya and that cute girl. I weighed my options.
"Fuck!" I screeched, running towards them like a dumbass.
I ran past Iida on my way over, and I grinned like an idiot at him, offering a thumbs up that implied I was fine when I was most certainly not fine.
And that's when it happened.
Midoriya jumped, but not like any jump I'd ever seen him do. He fucking flew, and then to top it all off, he punched the robot.
It was a one-hit KO.
So he single-handedly defeated the robot, yay, right? Wrong. He defeated the robot, but now he was falling, and he was falling fast. The cute girl and I looked at each other, sharing the same thought in different words.
"Crap."
"Well, fuck me."
A/N
Some details about this chapter have been changed and I will explain why so the changes make sense. Originally Tora uses a gun on the robots, however, her using a gun does not make sense when it comes to how her quirk works. A gun is a very complicated object, she doesn't know how to actually make a functional gun, it has too many parts. I also fixed the spelling of Iida's name, so it's no longer incorrect. I hope these changes makes sense! Comment if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer!
