~24~
In the coming days leading to the Sport's Festival, the tension between classes was at an all-time high. Some students were much more discreet about their hatred compared to others though. Occasionally a student from a different class would shoot a glare at me in the hallway, I never hesitated to return it.
Because of the USJ incident, anyone anywhere in Japan could recognize a class 1-A student at a glance, and the extra attention was not appreciated by almost everyone in class, save for those who didn't care. Not to mention the pressure to do well in the Sports Festival because we're class 1-A.
"So, how are you guys feeling about tomorrow?" Uraraka asked, placing her tray down at our usual table.
"You mean the Sports Festival?" Midoriya asked, pulling up a chair next to her.
"Yeah," She nodded. "I'm super nervous, I feel like everyone's watching me."
"I just want to get it over with," I groaned. "But Kuse said that he was going to skip school to come watch me, so I guess there's that."
"What?!" Tenya exclaimed. "But Kuse shouldn't skip school!"
"I told him that already," I sighed, stabbing my spoon into my chocolate pudding. "But who knows if he'll actually listen. He did sneak into UA just so he could see me."
"Won't your mom get upset if she finds out he skipped school?" Uraraka asked, digging into her lunch.
I shrugged, shoving the spoonful of pudding into my mouth. "I dunno, she might, my mother's usually busy so she probably doesn't get most the messages the school sends her."
"What about you Iida?" Midoriya asked. "You excited for the Sports Festival?"
"Definitely," Iida grinned. "It'll be a good chance to show off what I've learned."
"Aren't you a little worried though Midoriya?" I asked, pointing at him with my spoon. "You can't exactly go around breaking bones the whole time, there's a limit as to how many bones you have."
"That's true," Midoriya agreed, his eyes downcast. "But I'll keep working on it, I'll get a handle on my quirk eventually."
"Good luck with your training then!" Uraraka chirped. "I'll be doing my best too!"
"I'm sure you'll get the hang of it," I said to my green-haired friend. "It'll probably just take some time since your quirk appeared so late, you're probably not adjusted to it yet. Anyway, you going to finish your pudding?"
Midoriya passed over his butterscotch pudding without even blinking, watching as I scooped it all out in one go.
The school bell chimed to signal the end of lunch and the four of us picked up our trays.
"Let's hurry you three," Tenya said, making his famous chopping motion. "Tardiness is unacceptable for UA students!"
I emptied my tray and rolled my eyes. "Whatever you say, Mr. Class-rep."

Classes were the same as usual, I took messy notes and tried to look like I wasn't lost, but I knew I'd be asking Midoriya for his notes later, they were much neater than mine. English wasn't nearly as bad though, I understood most of it by this point, granted I still wasn't confident in my pronunciation or grammar. All I had to really go off of were English songs I listened to and vines from years ago.
When the bell finally rang, I was quick to gather up all of my things, walking over to Tenya's desk and waiting for him to finish packing up.
"Oh yeah," Tenya said, glancing over at me. "My brother said that since the first years will be doing internships this year he'd put in an offer for you and I to go to his hero agency, I might go somewhere else since he's my brother, but you're welcome to go."
"Cool," I grinned. "Depending on how many offers I get, I'll keep him in mind."
"Anyways, you ready to go?" Tenya asked, standing from his desk.
"Yeah, I was ready ages ago," I replied. "You going straight home today?"
"Yes," He quickly nodded. "I'd love to hang out, but I would like to train at home for a bit, the Sports Festival is tomorrow after all."
"That's fine," I shrugged. "Kuse and I might hit the beach, there's usually junk lying around that I can use."
The two of us headed for the door, only to be stopped by some of our other classmates, who hadn't moved from in front of the door.
"What the hell?" I asked, tapping Kaminari's shoulder. "What's going on?"
"Some people from General Studies are blocking the door," He replied. "Something about the Sports Festival."
"Fuck this," I groaned, grabbing Tenya's arm and forcing my way through to the front. "I want to go home! This is bullshit!"
I burst through to the front at the same time as Bakugo and he glared at me. I glared right back, then glaring at the purple-haired kid who thought it was a good idea for him and his classmates to block the door.
"Excuse me Turnip," I huffed. "But I and my friend here would like to go home. I think I speak on behalf of my whole class when I say that we just want to go home."
"You class 1-A kids think you're so special," Someone behind him said. "Just because of some villain attack."
I snapped my head in the direction of whoever spoke, glaring ferociously. "Do you fuck-faces think we wanted to get attacked by villains? Thanks to that stupid villain attack our teacher looks like a mummy, my little brother is traumatized, Midoriya broke more bones, and I'm sure everyone in my class now has some kind of trauma. So you can all just go screw yourselves, I'm going home, you guys have fun with Bakugo."
With one last huff, I grabbed Tenya again and stomped off.
"Was that really wise?" Tenya asked.
"Wise?" I repeated. "Probably not, but if they want to settle it they can come for me at the Sports Festival. I was never good at settling things with words anyway."
Tenya sighed. "Just don't come crying to me when everyone in General Studies comes after you."
"Ha!" I snorted. "I'm sure I can handle myself."
"I doubt that," Tenya replied. "You'll need my help sooner or later."
"We'll see about that," I replied as we exited the school. "Anyways, I'll see you tomorrow, I'm going to go get Kuse from school."
"Alright," Tenya nodded, raising a hand to wave as he started walking in the opposite direction. "See you tomorrow."
I waved back for a moment before turning on my heel. I began down the sidewalk, only taking a few steps away from the school's front gates when I almost collided with someone. I narrowly avoided bumping into them headfirst, taking a moment to steady myself.
"Are you alright?" I asked, feeling bad about almost running into him once I saw his appearance.
"Don't worry about it," The man smiled, showing his hollow cheeks as he waved it off with a bony arm. "I'm totally fine."
"If you say so..." I shrugged before continuing to walk towards Kuse's school.
I couldn't help but mull over that man's appearance though. He looked as though a strong gust of wind could knock him over and the suit he was wearing was obviously much too big for him. More perplexing than his appearance though was the fact that he just walked through the gates of UA. What business could a man who looked like he was on the verge of death have with UA? I don't think he's a pro hero since I've never seen him before.
I shrugged. I wasn't going to let something as mundane as this tear me apart, for all I know he is a pro hero that I've never heard of.
After all, I did have more important things to focus on, like how the hell I was going to survive the Sports Festival. Well, it wasn't like I could strategize since I have no clue what we'll be doing, so I guess I'll do what I always do.
Wing it.
A/N
I'm super sorry, I know I said I'd be getting to the Sport's Festival soon, but it's felt wrong to just jump right into it and skip time, so the festival will start next chapter. Forgive me!
