dix-neuf
Stumbling through the school doors at the end of the day, she yawned loudly and rubbed at her eyes. She was exhausted to the core, lids drooping as she stumbled down the steps. Alice and Jasper were waiting for her, ready to babysit her throughout the day. Edward was going hunting with the others, Bella was going to LaPush.
Andy wanted to join her but Quil was running patrol and Lynn had plenty of school work to catch up on. They were already out for the summer, luckily for them, but the girl was struggling to make up for the work she missed in her advanced courses. The pack seemed to forget that Andy was graduating and already completed all this work- she could have easily helped.
Her mind buzzed with calculus equations, spinning with information as she went over her answers. She had finished before her sister, giving her the opportunity to leave earlier though she didn't know what she was going to do the rest of the day.
With her final exams finished and the weekend cleared, Andy only had her graduation set for Monday. She was officially done high school.
It was strange, having nothing to do for the rest of the summer- possibly for the rest of forever if it came down to it.
"How did History go?" Jasper questioned as soon as she got into earshot.
Grinning, she skipped the rest of the way to the couple, "Easier than you can imagine. I flew through the essay like it was nothing."
Jasper smiled, congratulating her with a pat on the back. He led her around the front of he car, letting her drop her bags into the back seat before she slid in. The music was off, the car silent as the vampires climbed in- sharing the occasional look.
"What's wrong?" she piped from the back, leaning forward between the seats.
Alice turned to her, eyes narrowed and snapped, "What do you think you're doing? Sit back and put your seatbelt on."
Rolling her eyes, she did as she was told- buckling herself in and resting her head against the window. The trees grew taller and thicker the further they moved from town.
It was one of the many things she loved about living in Forks, the nature that surrounded them was so entirely welcoming. It was a wonder how more people didn't get lost.
Coming upon the road to the Cullen home, she sat straighter and faced the couple in the front. They held hands over the center console, matching together like two missing pieces.
"Why don't we try to get some training in before the others get back?" Jasper suggested, glancing to her in the rear-view mirror. "We can work on your empathic abilities?"
Her head fell back against the seat and a groan passed her lips. She felt heavy, as though she was being dragged down by some invisible weight. She was tired and her heart clenched in preparation for something.
"Why?" she murmured, not looking at either of them. She kept her eyes focused on the roof above her.
"You never know when you'll need it," Alice spoke calmly, stepping from the car as soon as they pulled up outside of the large, modern home.
Andy followed with a grumble, her hands digging into her pocket and her head kept lowered as her shoes pressed into the dirt.
She had spent hours in that dirt, being assaulted by various emotions continuously. It was something she had learnt that grow use to, it was a familiar sensation to have so many different things settle in her bones.
She was sitting in the dirt when an ache appeared in her wrist, a physical pain that caused her to inhale an abrupt gasp. She hissed, rubbing at the skin as tears welled in her eyes.
He sleek black Volvo rolled up to the home in that moment, Edward angry as he stormed out of the car and to the passenger side. The anger was bitter in her mouth, causing a flush to spread over her face- the boy glanced to her briefly as he helped her sister from the car.
Bella appeared nearly as frazzled as she felt- the elder Swan cradling her wrist and suddenly Andy understood the pain that she felt.
Pushing to her feet, she rushed to her sister side and grabbed at her wrist. Edward hovered, spitting out a furious explanation as to how his mate got hurt. Jacob had kissed her- without permission- and Bella had proceeded to hit him, breaking her hand.
Jasper had to pull her away, physically dragging her into the home at the same moment that the rest of the family returned from the hunt. Carlisle was down the stairs in a few seconds- having heard the whole thing. He gestured for Bella to come forward but Andy beat him to it.
She slipped by Jasper, snatching her sisters hand as a golden glow appeared. She a burst f energy in her chest before it was sucked away, replacing with a dull ache in her wrist as she healed her sister and brought harm to herself. The loud snap was heard throughout the home followed by a couple of curses.
Andy grinned tiredly, the movement strained as she let her new injury be jostled around. Carlisle's cool hands were a momentary relief while he placed a brace to keep her from moving her hand all too much. It was broken.
"I can't believe- you went and- why did you- I just," Jasper paced back and forth in front of her, his hands running through his hair- tugging occasionally. He sent her glares, he sent Bella glares. "I'm going for a walk."
Calling after him, Andy followed him from the house only to see him disappear into the trees. She groaned in exasperation and sat on the steps.
She wanted to curl up in her bed and not leave until Monday. There was an incurable itch that crawled under her skin, restlessness sitting in her. She didn't want to be near anyone but she knew it was impossible.
Looking to the window, she waited until Edward arrived by her side with a pair of key offered out to her in waiting. He didn't hesitate, letting her take them before turning back inside.
She wasn't confident in what she planned to do, she was simply filled with an anger and hatred that she could not fully describe. Jacob Black was a nuisance, a boy that believed he was entitled to the world. He walked around with this self-righteousness that was loomed over anyone that stood to close like a dark cloud. He made her sick- physically and mentally.
Stumbling over to the car, she started it up and pulled away- driving all too fast for someone that had an injured hand and slow reflexes like herself. She was tired, a throbbing pain filling her arm the longer she drove. She would need a cast and someone would undoubtedly drag her off to get one as soon as she returned.
Tugging on the wheel in frustration, she turned onto the familiar streets of the reservation- bringing herself closer to the pack. They would be at Emily and Sam's, they always were.
Pushing further onto the gas, she sped down the dirt road dangerously. The boys must have heard her arrival because they came bouncing from the home as she pulled the key from the ignition.
Her heart swelled at the sight of Quil and Lynn shoving at each other to reach her first. She scowled at them and turned her anger to the other boys.
"Where is he?" Andy demanded- voice sounding like thunder in the peaceful air. She shook with rage, body quivering as she glanced around for him.
"Who babe?" Quil questioned softly, he stepped towards her slowly as the boys snickered softly- unperturbed by the by her prickly appearance.
"Jacob," she hissed, letting her self fall into her other half. She accepted the comfort he offered, finding home in his arms. "I'm going to kill him."
Quil nodded along, agreeing with her as she mumbled profanities under her breath about his best friend. He held her close, enjoying the cool of her skin against his bare torso.
Andy placed her braced covered hand to his chest, pushing away as she eyed the other boys- not ready to accept defeat. She was so small compared to them- appeared so tiny and insignificant in relation to the importance of their nature.
The boys were the protectors of the tribe, the guardians of their people and she was just a pale face girl with an amorous connection to the chocolate coloured wolf.
"What the hell happened to your hand!" Lynn exclaimed, grabbing at the limb with a gentle manner. The female shifter twisted it around, prodding occasionally.
Quil growled low in his chest, the rumble sending a tingling sensation own her spine. The boy squeezed her against him- muscles pulling taunt as he seemed to be scanning for danger.
"It's broken," Andy grunted- her anger snapping back at her. "Jacob kissed Bella without permission and she hit him. I healed her and now I'm going to kick his ass so, where is he?"
"You're not going anywhere near him," Lynn shut her down immediately, attention turning to Embry and he nodded in agreement.
"But-" Tears welled in her eyes. It was difficult for he to get words to form so that they would comprehend. She cried silently, a horror-stricken expression planted on her face and she could no longer meet their eyes.
Slipping back, she allowed herself to be mainly hidden by Quil's larger body. Andy could not hear over her heartbeat in her own ears.
"Babe, we can't let you because you could et hurt," Quil mumbled in her ear.
"I don't care," she gasped. "You might not understand but consent is much more important than you realize. Silence is not consent. No is not consent. Love is not an excuse to do what you want. Anger is not an excuse to o what you want! Jacob is a disgusting creature that thinks he knows best for everyone when he doesn't know shit."
Lynn rushed forward, her shoulder brushing against Andy's causing the girl to whimper. The Cameron girl was hot- fiery to the touch and burning with fury that radiated from the skin.
"He's dead," Lynn spat- taking off into the trees.
Crying harder, she sank onto the ground. Her legs curled into her chest and she buried her face in her hands.
The boys didn't move, their uncertainty scratching at her skin causing her to weep louder. She was the sky of Forks, the clouds opening anew to cleanse the earth- she let herself cry as a weak way to release the pent-up emotions.
"I graduate Monday," Andy sniffled- head lifting to look at Quil knelt next to her. "Will you be there?"
