Rifts
"You put us all in danger, any longer in the quintessence field, we would've kept fight it would've destroyed us," Allura said in a low tone as voltron released Lotors ship in the middle of space, letting it float.
"Just like Lotor," she whispered.
"What did you do?" Keith asked quietly.
"I transferred the excess power from voltron... It's a technique i learned on Oriande, thanks to Lotor," Allura sighed tiredly looking down.
"Thanks to that... you saved us, you saved the universe," hunk pursed his lips as lance stayed quiet as the castle flew closer to them.
"Your back!" Coran cheered happily.
"I'm getting Lotor," lance got up from his chair.
"Actually we face a bigger threat now, Lotors jumping in and out of quintessence field created multiple growing rifts in the fabric of time and space," Coran stopped lance quickly as he paused.
"It's not over?" Lance slowly sat back down.
"No, unless we do something fast those tears will continue to expand until all of existence as we know it has been destroyed," Pidge told him slowly as they felt dread sink in.
"There has to be something we can do," Keith gulped.
"Scanning the rift for any strand refabrication possibilities,"
"I'm running models to see if there's a chance it can close on its own,"
They waited a few tics.
"Nothing," Pidge growled.
"Nope me neither," hunk sighed.
"How long do we have?" Keith asked roughly.
"Based on the way those rifts are expanding, about 15 dobashes," Coran told them.
"Allura you have to have a way to close it," lance closed his eyes tightly trying to call himself down.
"I'm sorry but I don't possess that level of alchemic knowledge," Allura defended.
"The only thing that could possibly pull that rift close would be a source of gravity more powerful than a supermassive black hole," Pidge cut in with her scanners.
"What about the teludav?" Coran popped in.
"What about it?"
"To make a wormhole jump, the teludav creates a brief flash of infinite mass, there might be a way I can over load the teludav and seal the rift," Coran explained to them quickly.
"If one of the flashes went off in the rift I could do the job," he looked back at the crystal.
"But... that would mean sacrificing the castle of lions.." hunk mumbled.
"What choice do we have? The castle will be wiped out with the rest of us," Pidge told him seriously.
"But still... it's been our home," hunk looked down sadly.
"I hate to say good bye to my grandfathers creation, the last piece of the real altea," Coran sighed sadly. It was his families legacy, something he always would have to remind him of his grandfathers success.
"Coran, begin preparations," Allura said slowly.
"Everyone else start unloading the castle, we need to evacuate immediately,"
"Ill get Lotor," lance hopped out of his seat and ran to escape the lion as everyone went to collect their valuables. "Hunk can you get kaltenector for me?"
Lance ran out and leaped out of the red lions mouth activating his jet pack flying straight to the sincline ship.
"Lotor!?" Lance called landed on it with a growl at the impact.
He narrowed his eyes looking inside but it was to dark. He grunted slamming his elbow but it didn't even crack. Lance grabbed his bayard and activated the blaster as he shot at the glass creating a crack, he kicked his heel into it and the glass shattered finally.
"Lotor!" Lance flew in but gasped loudly as he stopped mid air.
"L-Lo..." lance landed on the ground as he knelt in front of lotors chair. He saw Lotor unconscious or possibly not breathing, half of his body burnt as well as his arm demolished from the battle, his leg was crushed in the metal that crumbled. But a large sharpe scar ran along his face, from the top of his hair line touching the side of his white brow and curved down to his cheek bone.
"H-hey, Lotor, open your eyes," lance touched his cheek gently with tears welding up.
"I'm here," he whispered brushing hair out of Lotors face as he saw Lotors chest rise. He was dying slowly...
"Why were you such an idiot?" Lance gently lifted him with the thanks of zero gravity and flew out of the damaged ship.
"I'm going to need all medical supplies immediately! This is an emergency!" Lance commanded sternly.
"Is he alive?" Pidge asked shocked.
"He has a chance, please," lance felt his vision blur with tears but blinked them away quickly making it back in the red lion.
He grunted as he was forced to put down Lotor as he was to heavy, lance immediately sprinted to the first aid kit and ran back to start treating his boyfriend.
Lance ripped off the armor and threw it to the side as his hands trembled seeing Lotor no longer had his left arm from the elbow down and from the middle of his shin and down he no longer had his right leg.
"Mi dios," lance whimpered.
"Guys please!" He cried out yanking his helmet off.
"Lance we need to go," Keith told him calmly.
"He's going to die," lance trembled.
"We'll help him once we're somewhere safe, but for now we need to get out of here," Keith explained from the speakers as lance closed his eyes.
"Okay..." lance breathed and gently lifted Lotor by the upper body and dragged him to the personal rooms where there was a bed in the wall, he knew he couldn't get Lotor up there on his own... he was 7 feet tall... but he grabbed the pillow and rested it under Lotors head and tried to cover him up as best he could woth the blanket.
"Stay alive, I'm not done being mad at you," lance looked down at him softly but ran to the control room to fly them out of there.
They flew in formation not looking back at the castle that entered the rift, memories being destroyed behind them. Suddenly it was all gone but a moment later an explosion erupted causing them all to shake from the impact as they tried to fly father.
But it worked.
It was fixed.
"It worked!" Hunk boomed.
"You did it Coran," Allura looked up as Coran and Romelle were in the blue lion with her.
"Guys look," hunk flew away seeing a bright blue light.
"What is it?" Keith asked curiously.
"It's a diamond," hunk analyzed seeing the shiny rock. The yellow lion opened its mouth to collect the small rock.
"The pressure crushed the castle of lions into this little diamond," hunk smiled seeing it wasn't completely gone.
"Well we saved all realities everywhere..." lance looked down as he didn't feel satisfied. "What now?"
"We need to find some place to land, see if there's some way we can help shiro and Lotor," Keith nodded as he knew shiro was with him in the black lion in a healing pod. He wished they had time to get another.
"Lotor should be Lances responsibly," allies narrowed her eyes.
"When we land, we're going to have a talk," lance growled in a threatening tone as Allura turned away glaring.
———
They found an abandoned planet near by as it was rocks dust and dead plants, but no one would find them. They laid shiro down to figure out his situation first.
"This body is barely living, but shiros spirit is alive, it's inside the black lion, I've heard him talking to me," Keith looked down at his brother sadly.
"He... he tried telling me in the void... b-but I didn't realize," Lance gulped as everything felt like it was crumbling down on him.
"I'm so sorry shiro, I-I didn't know, I could've..." but he stopped himself on his own sob. Everyone was going to die, his hero, his love, he couldn't handle it all.
Allura slowly rested her hand on him with a sympathetic look as she got up and walked to the black lion, touching her hand on the cold metal. Focusing on her inner magic.
The lions eyes glowed as purple lighting formed around it and entered the princesses body as she now glowed purple with her eyes a bright yellow like the lion. Allura came back and rested her finger tips on shiros head as her magic traveled to him and entered his body and rested inside him to stay, his hair turning white.
They waited for something to happen, hoping something would happen.
Suddenly shiros eyes snapped open glowing yellow as well but faded back into his natural grey. He bolted from the ground coughing harshly like he couldn't breath as everyone's eyes were wide but relieved. Shiro groaned softly falling back but Keith caught him and rested him against his chest.
Hunk and Coran hugged each other in joy as Pidge wipes tears of joy under her glasses as lance knelt still with tears remaining.
"You found me..." shiro breathed looking at keith as he barely could keep his eyes open.
"We're glad you're back shiro," Keith whispered smiling softly.
"Rest," Allura said softly. He complied as his eyes fell asleep as he felt exhausted.
"What are we going to do? The castles destroyed," hunk looked at them confused.
"There's only one place that has the plans necessary to build a replacement for the castle of lions," Pidge pursed her lips a little but smiled softly. "Coran gave then to my dad,"
"We're going home," Keith nodded looking at them but his gaze remained on lance who stayed silent looking at the red lion.
