Lance held his arm to his stomach as he stumbled to get to the chair in his lion to form voltron, he shoved the lever forward and red lit up to pilot themselves as lance did his best to try getting his arm in place as they formed voltron. But it was snapped in half, he wouldn't be able to fight in person, he might be able to still use his weapon if it came to that.

"Form sword!" Keith roared as they fought along side of the atlas with shiro at the helm.

Voltron flew across the armada of the galra slashing at the ships with the large sword. As soon as they raced off from the ships distraction they flew to the next one to destroy, avoiding being hit.

But there was more ships every time they turned around.

"I'm sending you the zaiforge cannons movements, this is a simulation I've run based on their current trajectory," Sam sent a screen to the lions as everyone was surprised.

"It leads to a single point in space, and once their in position their individual beams will merge together, increasing their destructive force," he told the team almost worried.

"Something like that will be powerful enough to completely destroy earth," lance recognized the prints from the galra, it was a simple strategy that was commonly used.

"So what do we do? We can't let that happen," hunk gulped a little.

"Should we go after the cannons?" Allura asked wide eyes. "We might not be able to defeat them all in time,"

"If even two of those beams connect they have the power to destroy earth," Lotor agreed as he stood behind him to see the screens.

"Best option is to kill Sendak, he's the one behind all of this," the prince glared a little in determination.

"Alright, let's go take him out," Keith nodded moving ahead.

But immediately was hit from a blast behind.

"What was that?!" Allura gasped at the impact.

"Move!" Hunk called as another blast almost hit them.

"It's from those bases that launch the zaiforge cannon!" Pidge pointed out. "They probably were designed to defend the cannons after they launch,"

"Shield!"

Pidge and lance quickly pulled to bring the shield in front to block the next blast.

But the galra used that moment to start attacking voltron, to take out the biggest threat against them.

"Fuck! We're being attacked from all angles!" Pidge cried out as the controls shook.

"Should we pull back?!" Hunk grunted.

"No we're to close to retreat," lance snapped back as sweat ran down his face.

"We can't take any more shots from the ground base cannons lance!" Pidge yelled.

"See if they'll attack their own," lance huffed trying to ignore the agonizing pain in his arm from being thrown around in the lions from the shots.

They pulled back before the blast hit and it blew up the ship in front of them proving the point.

"He's destroying his own ships to get to us," Keith panted confused. But they were attacked again from all angles.

A fighter ship flew into the atlas and blew up on the front shaking the ship.

"We can't get to Sendak!" Coran called over to shiro.

"Voltron is pinned down!" Veronica cried out as alarms echoed through the speakers above.

"Griffin what's your team's status?" Shiro called through the controls to the pilots.

"Nearly charged, what ever is powering the atlas is incredible," Griffin responded.

"We need you back in the fight," Shiro nodded. "Head to the coordinates I'm sending you and take out those surface to air cannons,"

"Yes sir,"

Shiro saw two minutes later that the mfe's launched again in the air and ready to help in the battle.

"We've sustained structural damage on our starboard now!" Veronica looked at her screen trying to keep focus and not freak out.

"Aft cannons are recharging, holding tight at 45%," Iverson grunted.

"Shiro the zaiforge cannons are almost in position, by my calculations we're not going to get Sendak in time," Sam gulped a little.

Shiro looked at Lotor for a moment as the two stayed there then nodded understanding what needs to be done.

"Paladins, you need to stop your attack," Shiro called them.

"What?!"

"Abort your attack or earth will be destroyed," Lotor agreed.

"Why what's going on?" Lance panted as voltron pulled back.

"The atlas will continue to attack Sendak while the mfe's attempt to take out the ground cannons," Shiro explained to them quickly. "Just in case that doesn't work we'll need you to stop the zaiforge cannons directly,"

"And how are we going to stop all the cannons?" Hunk asked .

"I'm not sure a lion can take one down on its own," lance pursed his lips.

"Is there any way we can block the beams?" Keith offered.

"We would be annihilated," Pidge shook her head.

"What about those reflective plates they used to curve the beam around earth?" Hunk said in one breath.

"They could deflect the beams and keep them from merging," she shrugged a little.

"Alright that's the best we got so far, let's go," Keith inhaled a deep breath and voltron disassembled back into lions and flew into teams with a plan.

"Good luck Paladins," Shiro breathed anxiously for his team.

"What happens if none of that works?" Lotor turned to him.

"We kill Sendak ourselves," Shiro looked at him seriously and Lotor smiled amused, very much liking the plan.

"Atlas, cannon one is neutralized, moving to next target," Griffin responded to the captain and there was the slightest relief, even if it was one cannon at least it was possible to completely take them out.

"We have a fire in the plasma alternator, activating fire suppressors,"

"Veronica, what's the status of the shielding system?" Shiro looked over at the woman.

"I'm trying," she huffed.

"Keep working," he nodded. "Coran, adjust our heading to 5.38,"

The Paladins came back with the plates as the atlas held off the attacks as long as they could as their systems powered up. Shiro got the okay seeing they barely had time but just enough power.

"Full ordinance, starboard side!" Shiro called to iverson.

"Munitions to starboard," iverson typed in.

"Coran, bearings, 7.2,"

"Fire!"

They were able to defend and attack back again but they wouldn't be able to take any more blasts as well.

"Galra cruiser destroyed!" Was announced.

"More cruisers incoming, we can't handle many more blasts!" Shiro clenched his fists leaning against the controls stressed.

"Wait the shielding system-" Veronica had a new screen appear in front of her.

"What is it?" Shiro snapped his head to her worried what else could be wrong.

"It's online," she smiled back at the captain as the shield formed around the atlas in a sphere to block all attacked just in time before the galra sent more blasts at them.

"Shielding successful!"

"How much time before the zaiforge cannons fire?" Shiro asked.

"Any second," Sam inhaled a sharp breath. Waiting for voltron to be set in motion with the plates they hoped would work as they blocked all five of the cannons.

"Almost ready!" Keith called back.

Everyone paused seeing the cannons load up and fire at the plates that had the lions behind to hold them in place. It worked and blocked the blasts as they were redirected opposite.

"Those plates won't take much longer," Lotor watched narrowing his eyes. "They were designed for reflecting short bursts,"

"Then we need to take out Sendak now," Shiro agreed.

"But we can't get through the cruisers blockage he's created," Coran pointed out until they were hit again making the ship shake.

"We need a new plan," Shiro inhaled deeply. He looked over at Adam, they needed a new plan fast.

"Sam what if someone were to infiltrate Sendak's ship and gain access to its crystals? Could the cannons be disrupted?" He asked.

"Infiltrate-" "would it work?" Shiro cut him off needing the answer immediately.

"It could work but you'd need a communication device to link the atlas to we can hack their system," Sam knitted his brows staring at the calculations.

"Then that's what we'll do, Lotor let's go," Shiro looked over at the galra.

"Lotor? Really?" Veronica looked uneasy at the prince as well.

"He knows the galra, he knows those ships, And I need someone to have my back," Shiro nodded, he trusted Lotor, and he needed everyone else to trust lotor too.

"Let's go," Lotor got up and headed to the exit with Shiro.

"Coran the ship is yours, get the atlas to the impact site," Shiro told the others as he followed Lotor out.

Shiro placed his hand on the scanner as he got in a white silver suit and Lotor wore the same with his hair tucked away.

"If you have the chance, kill Sendak," Shiro said in a threateningly low tone keeping his back to the galra.

"I plan on it, no more games, no more banter, he will die today," Lotor grabbed the handle in a short holster on his side, he took it out and a long sword followed glowing orange. It was temporary but it can kill.

The door opened, Shiro took the lead as he jumped out with Lotor following, jet packs activating as they raced to the ship while the lions were using all their strength to fight back.

"We're running out of time!" Keith barked in the headset as the two were just about to approach the ships.

"Atlas, we've arrived at Sendak's command ship," Shiro reassured them.

In the distance they saw the five cannons speak up and a moment later a beam blasted through. Heading to earth.

But the atlas's shield held the beam off from hitting the earth.

"Shiro the Paladins haven't responded and the atlas can hold much longer!" Coran cried out as the galra and captain stood between two sentries destroyed as Lotor held the blade looking ahead as Shiro looked back.

"This way," Lotor motioned ahead and they carefully made their way over to a door.

Lotor slashed the lock and the door opened to reveal a large crystal that was bigger than both of them, hooked up as the energy source.

"Sam we've made it to the crystal, activating communication transponder," Shiro updated the atlas.

"Okay, I have to warn you this might be a little strange, I'm about to use your brain as a computer node," sam responded calmly.

"Wouldn't be the first time," Shiro held his robotic arm up as Lotor gave him an odd look.

"What?"

"Nothing,"

The detachable arm placed its hand against the crystal as Shiro focused but a spark of electricity hit Shiro and more flowed from the crystal to his body, Shiro gasped and cried out in pain as Lotor tightened his grip on his sword watching the door as he let the human be.

"I've got it! Disengaging the ventral thoron injector port. It will overload the deuterium array which should result in an explosion large enough to debilitate the beam generator," Sam worked quickly as he could hear the cries of pain.

"Great now let's hurry this up, we don't have much time," Lotor glanced over as Shiro was falling to a knee as he growled.

The galra heard an explosion and as soon as he looked back he was pushed back by a force and slammed into the wall.
