Launch date
Lance and Lotor hung out together in lances cabin as they were reading a book together on the couch, Lance tried to find a book he'd think Lotor would like and understand, due to earths odd traditions that he may not understand, while lance read one of his favorite books.
They sat on the couch with their legs tangled with each other and music in the back, comfortable silence in each other's presence.
But there was a knock at the door.
"I got it," lance set the book down seeing how invested Lotor was in his own book.
"Yes?" Lance opened the door seeing Coran and Romelle.
"Have you seen Lotor?" Coran asked.
Lotor heard his name and got up to see what the fuss was.
"What can I help You with Coran?" Lotor stood behind lance curiously.
"It's about Hagar, or honerva," Coran said gently.
"Is everything okay?" Lance asked concerned as Lotor crossed his arms.
"It's more of an altean situation," Allura walked over to join them.
"Oh okay... I'll see you around," he looked up at Lotor as the hybrid stepped outside.
"I'll be back after," Lotor smiled kindly to him when lance closed the door.
"You don't have to be so rude, he was my second in command," the tallest followed the other alteans down the hall.
"It doesn't concern him," Allura waved it off.
"And Shiro requested You specifically to join us," she said with a shrug.
—
"If honerva sent that beast machine then our mission must changed," Allura told Shiro as the five sat in a conference room together.
"No, we have a plan and we need to stick to it," Shiro disagreed. "If honerva is really behind this then I'm sure we'll find her along the way,"
"Or she'll find us," Lotor sighed running his robotic hand through his hair.
"This is Hagar still, she was leading with zarkon, that woman is dangerous but smart," he explained looking at them tiredly.
"There is no telling of what she'll do and how far she'll go," he nodded keeping his eyes down.
"I think You may be a target Lotor, with the machine she sent, and I don't think she wants you dead," Shiro looked over at him.
"Tomorrow we launch, Lotor I need you by my side and your head in the game, can I count on you?" Shiro asked calmly, but he trusted the hybrid, he could tell Lotor was a good alley and asset. And if he gave him a project like this maybe he wouldn't have a mental break down again.
"You can count on me," Lotor nodded firmly.
—
The day of the launch everyone stood in garrison uniform, the paladins and the atlas team, as well as the mfe pilots, with Lotor in uniform to match the orange wardrobe. Shiro and Sam stood ahead of them all on a stage with civilians, Aliens and the garrisons that will stay back on earth.
"This will be perhaps the most defining moment in our history, the day human kind reaches beyond its home world," Sam step forward to join shiros side.
"To help the immense universe of which we inhibit such a small part," he smiled as Keith joined them to the front.
"In the blink of an eye the world as we knew it became much larger than we'd ever thought possible," Keith spoke up to the crowd. Marmora stood in the front as his mother smiled proudly at her son.
"And now we rise up and join the fight alongside so many others different from us, but of like minds, to stand firm in the face of tyranny," Keith spoke in a strong voice he didn't always have, the confidence of a leader of the voltron team.
"To all deserve of a well future as we have decided to spend ours enduring the freedom of the universe," Allura nodded with a proud smile to fight the war once again. She glanced at Lotor as he kept his eyes ahead, he was lined with them but was behind Shiro. She could tell there was worry with being so in front of everyone to a planet that demonized his kind.
"Each and everyone of you has given something to this fight," Shiro nodded taking the lead again.
"Many have been lost but not in vain," he looked over at Adam in the crowd. They kept their eyes on each other, filling shiros chest with joy that someone he thought he lost was still with him. "Because through their sacrifice, many more will live on,"
"I make you this promise now... we will return triumphant,"
They all said good byes too those they'd part with, hunk cried to miss his parents again, Veronica even said goodbye to her parents even if lance stayed distant.
"Lance," Axca walked over as the human and prince stayed close waiting for take off.
"Axca!" lance went and hugged her happily.
"You coming on the atlas with us?" He asked as she embraced him back.
"I'll be close but my journey is with the marmora, I did want to gift You this though," Axca handed him a communication device.
"You've changed me lance, and I enjoy your company, I'd love to stay in contact during our journeys," Axca smiled kindly to him as lance took the device.
"Aww You know I always have time for our chit chats," lance put it in his pocket as Lotor joined them quietly.
"The marmora should know they have a great soldier they can rely on," Lotor told her softly.
"I wish you a safe journey Axca," he nodded and she inhaled a deep breath.
"I hope you find yourself again Lotor, the galra will need you when the war is done, in a way as long as You breathe You will have a say in your people," Axca sighed nodded slowly looking away.
"I don't think I'll have a empires respect ever again," Lotor chuckled shaking his head as he looked at his robotic hand.
"No but your strength is what they'll need," she shrugged.
"And you will face ezor and zethrid again, prepare for that.. sir," Axca crossed her arms.
"I'll see you again soon," lance told her softly.
"I'll look forward, lance," she touched his shoulder.
"Are you ready?" Allura walked over to them.
"Wait," lances father ran over before they boarded the atlas.
"Papa?" Lance was shocked but gasped when his father hugged him tightly.
"Come home again mijo, you and your Amor will be welcomed to our home with open arms," John said in a sad voice as lance gulped a little looking at Lotor unsure.
"I will papa," he whispered hugging him back.
"Lance," Allura called as the paladins were boarding.
"I'm coming, good bye dad," lance pulled away as Lotor waited for him.
"Let's get this show on the road." He smiled up at Lotor as they went in the ship.
