"So what do we need to talk about?" Pidge asked as everyone was on the bridge while the generals and the Paladins where separated while Allura and Lotor stood in front almost as they also blended with their friends.
"I have to go back to the rebels to help, with zarkon gone there's going to be chaos, throwing battles against the galra cause they're weak right now," Matt stepped up as Pidge snapped her head to him.
"What about blue?" She asked confused.
"I think that's why we needed everyone for this conversation," Shiro nodded.
"You talked about this before?" Pidge snapped at Shiro.
"Pidge there's more, the rebels found a lead on dad, the galra is going wild right now so we got some leaks," Matt explained.
"Lotor would you know anything on Samuel holt?" Hunk asked looking up as Pidge was frozen at her brother.
"We can wait on that, but right now, blue doesn't have a paladin, that's the big thing," Shiro looked at her then looked at lance.
"Lance, would you come back to being a paladin again? The universe still needs Voltron," he asked gently as Lance looked at him with his eyes wide but a small scowl.
"Why should I?" He laughed with no humor.
"Because the universe needs us, we need five Paladins," Allura told him softly about to put her hand on his shoulder but Lance stepped back as he was side by side with Zethrid.
"You can find another paladin, there's no evil zarkon you have to worry about," Lance scoffed crossing his arms.
"Lance you have too!" Allura begged.
"No I don't, I'm not a paladin, I never have been... I was just the replacement for someone better to come around, what about coran? O-or someone else," Lance shook his head as he looked down.
"Lance please, we need you back," Allura touched his arm but Lotors large hand on lances shoulder making Allura pull her own back.
"It's his choice," Lotor said softly as Lance turned his body into Lotors just slightly as he stared at them biting his lip.
"Just... Think about it?" Allura asked.
"But you don't want me, you just want a pawn, your not even sorry for what you've done to me, lied, cast out, Allura you've hit me before, you guys verbally hurt me, I-I'm better now... You don't want me as myself, you just want a paladin," Lance looked at them all hurt.
"Hunk said he was sorry... Even pidge apologized, and Matt, but no one else has... But that's okay," Lance slowly smiled at them with a sad smile.
"Cause if you did, that would be another lie,"
Allura covered her mouth as Shiro looked at him with guilt as the altean had tears in her eyes looking at Lance as his smile faded and he looked away.
"No, I'm not coming back to Voltron," he said sternly as he looked at them again with no emotion. It didn't even sound like Lance anymore, not the way he talked to them, but when he's with the galra... There's been louder laughs and bigger smiles with them than they've ever seen.
"Lance," Matt spoke up looking at him kindly.
"Maybe you could sleep on it, this war isn't over, and we need our best fighters on the field, but either way if it's on the ground battle with the galra or in a lion in space with Voltron, we need you either way, because your a damn good fighter and good enough that both sides are just right for you," Matt smiled at him with his hand on his hip.
"Think about it tonight, if you choose one, then that's that, you belong with either of us," he nodded as Lance smiled gently at him.
"Alright, fine, I'll think about it," Lance whispered as Lotors hand on his shoulder relaxed on him but stayed.
"Thank you," Allura sighed relieved.
"I'm not doing it for you, if I do this its only to finally end the war, I'm so tired of fighting and dying almost every day, I just want to be happy again," Lance pursed his lips grabbing Lotors hand that was on his shoulder as he glared at her.
"Not everything is just handed to us without working hard," he hissed under his breath but Allura heard.
"Excuse me? Lance your not so innocent either," Allura scoffed.
"You betrayed us as you worked with the galra," she stated.
"Where is Keith now? Working with the galra? Some how your Paladins keep leaving because we fit in better with the galra who aren't shaping us into something we're not, they gave us opportunities," Lance snapped back.
"Your good at replacing people, I'm sure finding another paladin won't be to hard," he huffed crossing his arms as Lotor squeezed his shoulder tightly.
"Enough all of you," Lotor raised his voice over them all with a calm looking.
Everyone was silent.
"Good. Now, we have much to discuss for our futures as individuals and for the sake of the universe," Lotor placed his hands behind his back glancing around to catch everyone's attention.
"The death of my father has created a powerful vacuum within the galra empire, the most formidable galra leaders will gather for what is called the Kral Zera sometime in the next two days to decide who will take the throne," Lotor continued walking a few feet as everyone looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"We must be there," he stated sharply.
"You don't get the throne?" Lance asked softly raising an eye brow with his arms crossed.
"No, due to the war it's broken much honor in the empire but the Kral Zera is the one thing that has not been destroyed by my father, as zarkon was the emperor, there's been no need," Lotor explained with a nod.
"So you want us to fly you into the middle of a gathering with all of the most powerful galra leaders? That's kinda fishy my dude," hunk raised his hand as well as an eye brow confused.
"Lotor we appreciate all that you've sacrificed but this sounds far to dangerous," Allura turned to him frowning concerned.
"We'll go with or without you," Ezor huffed crossing her arms and turned her body to the side glaring at them.
"We've been in more dangerous situations with much less to gain," Shiro spoke up. "Putting Lotor on the galra throne is what we've been discussing,"
"Yea but no one told us that would mean flying into a war zone," Pidge pipped in.
"We can't plan an operation this important so quickly," Allura told them all.
"We don't have a choice," Shiro shot back calmly.
"I'm sorry but I have to agree with Allura," everyone was surprised when Lance stepped in.
"It was to quick of a plan sending everyone on the operation for zarkons defeat and we all barely escaped with our lives, we should think this over," he explained motioning to her.
"Lance this is not your call," Shiro sent him a look of disapproval.
Lance pursed his lips slightly as he stayed planter where he stood. Lotor said nothing as he looked at Lance and Shiro raising his white brow.
"Allura the coalition wouldn't be where it is right now without Lotor, we need to listen to him," Shiro turned his look to Lotor as the galra looked back at him with a narrowed look.
"Well I'm with Allura too," Pidge cut through the silence.
"This is to dangerous to pull off last minute," Matt put his hand on his sisters shoulder.
"Agreed. So it looks like it's four to two in the princesses favor," coran shrugged as the generals looked at each other raising an eye brow.
"Look this isn't a vote in the leader of Voltron, I'm making this decision," Shiro shot back as he looked at Allura challengingly.
"There isn't just Voltron around!" Allura snapped harshly pointing at the galra's.
"With them around it was part of the success of the removal of zarkon," Shiro glared at her.
"We cannot risk anymore lives!"
"Risking lives put an end to zarkons reign, now is the time to finish the job,"
"Shiro, we're all on the same side here, despite some differences-" "I told you to stay or of this!" Shiro snapped loudly at Lance who backed up slightly with wide eyes.
"While you waste time squabbling sinister forces are conspiring to fill the galra power void," Lotor cut in pulling Lance back from shiros glare as the general was still slightly shocked at someone he once looked up to yelling at him.
"If I do not return to claim the throne... There is no telling who will,"
