Chapter Forty-Seven; Forgot About You

"You didn't tell me you had a sister."

"Yes I did."

"No you didn't."

Janelle glanced up at Ryan, only now realising that he was only wearing a towel. She involuntarily allowed her eyes to linger, gazing at his subtle muscles, before looking away, biting the inside of her cheek.

"You're sure this isn't Joshua?" Her sister questioned, to which she nodded.

"I should know." She mumbled.

"But Matt told me that he's a rich playboy." She placed her hands on her hips, and Janelle furrowed her eyebrows.

"And?"

"Well, I mean.." she motioned around her, and Janelle glanced around, seeing what she meant. It didn't look great that they were standing in the middle of Ryan's large house, filled with expensive art and furniture, with him standing there, well, mostly naked.

Ryan seemed to get the hint, lifting up his arms to cross them over his chest self-consciously.

Janelle was at a loss for words for a moment, but she shook her head. "He's not Joshua!" She spluttered. "In fact, he helped me get away from him."

Elenor's face fell into a different expression, and she looked over at Ryan, who was staring at the floor in an awkward manner. "You're That Ryan?"

He looked up at her, raising his eyebrows. "Depends on which one you mean."

"The one that whooped Joshua's ass at the restaurant?" She questioned, to which he nodded slowly.

"That would be me."

Janelle gave her sister a questioning look. "Who told you?" She Asked a bit louder than she had intended, causing her sister to look over at her, biting her lower lip.

"Matt did." She mumbled, to which Janelle sighed.

"I knew I shouldn't have told him." She ran a hand through her dark hair anxiously. "That's why you're here, isn't it? Matthew sent you?"

Elenor reached out to touch her sister's arm. "He was worried.." she said quietly. "Once he told me, so was I. I assumed you were still with Joshua, so I thought maybe.."

Janelle pulled her arm away, scoffing. "So you thought you'd come to LA and make sure I was making the right decisions with my life?"

She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Typical, Her sister always thought she had to tell everyone what to do, even with Janelle's love life. She thought that moving to LA would drive a wedge between them, but seemingly, miles and miles weren't too far to interfere with her life.

Elenor swallowed, looking down at the floor. "I just thought you were in trouble."

"And if I am, is it any of your business?" Janelle snapped, yet, she immediately regretted the words after they came out of her mouth, especially when she saw both Elenor and Ryan's expressions change.

Her sister sighed. "Six years; Six fucking years, and you're still exactly the same." She shook her head, before mumbling, "When will you learn that people are only concerned for you?"

Janelle only stared at her blankly. She didn't know what to say, but then, what was there to say? Her sister wasn't lying; everyone had a right to be concerned for her, especially after Joshua. What bothered Janelle was that she had finally broken away from everyone monitoring all of her life's decisions; she had finally become free, but now, all of that was coming back to haunt her.

Her family had never trusted that she'd be a responsible adult, although she had shown them time and time again that she was one. That was one another reason she had moved to Los Angeles in the first place. To get away from the people who didn't believe she'd make it in life as an adult.

Elenor sighed once more, before giving Ryan a small wave. "It's nice meeting you, Ryan." She mumbled, before glancing over at Janelle. "See you later, I guess."

She began to walk away, but Janelle felt a pant of guilt at the fact she was letting her older sister leave. It had been six years since they last saw each other, the least she could do was give her a hug.

"Ellie, Wait." She muttered, causing her sister to look back. She swallowed, running a hand through her hair. "Where are you going?"

Elenor shrugged. "Back to my hotel, I guess."

Janelle nodded, looking down at her feet, before willing herself to walk over to her older sibling. She hesitated, before holding out her arms, embracing her.

Elenor gave her a light squeeze, causing her to sigh. "I've missed you."

Elenor swallowed, nodding. "I've missed you, too." She mumbled. "All of us have."

Janelle pulled away, looking at her sister. "Mom and dad are okay, right?"

"They're great." Elenor let a small smile creep up on her face. "Retired and a little restless, but otherwise great."

Janelle let out a soft chuckle. "That's good, I'm glad." She Said quietly, before giving her sister another hug. "Will I see you later?"

Elenor nodded. "I'm sure." She stated. "Maybe we can go out to eat?"

"Sounds good."

Her sister nodded a little, biting her lower lip. "It was good to see you," She gave Janelle a small smile. "And to meet Ryan."

Janelle glanced over to where Ryan had been standing, only to see that he was no longer there. She laughed a little as she looked back at her older sibling. "I'm guessing he's getting dressed."

Elenor let out an airy chuckle. "Probably." She patted her sister on the shoulder. "See you later, Jenny."

Janelle smiled a little, nodded. "See you later."

Elenor turned towards the door, stepping over and opening it up, before looking back.

"Janelle?" She mumbled. "I have a question."

Janelle nodded to her sister, stepping a little closer. "Go ahead."

"Will you think about coming home?" She bit her lower lip, and Janelle stared at her for a moment in slight shock.

"What do you mean?" She questioned, although she knew very well what she meant.

"Will you come back to live In Minneapolis again?" Elenor Asked, before looking down at the floor and letting out a soft sigh. "Mom And Dad miss you, Matthew misses you. I miss you."

Janelle swallowed a little, looking up into her sister's eyes, which she could sense were sincere. She stayed silent a moment, before hesitatingly nodding. "I'll think about it."

Elenor nodded, a slight smile on her face. "It's good to hear that." She waved to Janelle one last time. "Love you."

"Love you too, Ellie."
