xi. Daydream
"I hope they're okay."
"Ah, my head." Lucy grumbled, standing up with her hand to her head. Looking around, she quickly realized she wasn't in the arena, their hotel, or the infirmary. Rather, she was in the same forest she and Gray had been taken to, or whatever, earlier.
"Gray!" She called out, knowing that if she was there, he must be too. Looking down at herself, she was mortified. Golden symbols were etched up her left arm and into the right side of her face. She couldn't just see them anymore, she could feel them. Her hair now had black streaks in it, a long braid going down her back. Shaking her head, she went to find Gray, he was of higher importance than whatever was going on with her.
She continued to call out his name as she walked around the seemingly endless forest. Every now and then she would feel power sure up through her left arm, and after awhile, it became painful.
"Lucy!" Gray called out, and Lucy heard him. She quickly dashed in the direction of Gray's voice. "Gray, stay where you are, I'm coming!" She replied, and after a little bit, she saw Gray with his back against a tree, black markings stretching up his right arm and his hair back. The two mages looked at each other, acknowledging the markings that appeared on their bodies, which is when Lucy realized something on Gray. He had a few golden streaks in his wild looking hair, and he saw the few black streaks in her braided hair.
"What the hell have we gotten ourselves into?" Gray questioned, who seemed to be in a bit more pain than Lucy, who slid down the wide tree bark next to Gray. The two mages sat there in silence, the pain occasionally making them want to scream or just groan out in frustration.
"I see it didn't work." The two mages looked up, only to see the same cloaked, supposedly girl, that they had seen earlier.
"Would you mind explaining? We're a bit out of options. And if my memory serves me right, we just got knocked the hell out." Gray spoke, a bit irritated. Lucy gave him a quick side glare and he cleared his throat. "Sorry, but we don't even know what we just did, and know we're unconscious." Gray said, calmer this time.
"That, and Fairy Law can prevent healing, so the longer we're, well, wherever we are, the longer it will take for us to recover." Lucy spoke up, and the cloaked figure couched down in front of the two, shadows hiding the figures face.
"The thought was that there'd be two Ice Devil Slayers. However, you exceeded my expectations. Those symbols on your arm, neck, and some of your face, they're Enochian." The figure spoke, and Lucy's brain clicked with a realization.
"That make's sense. Enochian is the lost angel language. So for it to appear with Devil Slayer magic, it makes sense. But that means-" Lucy was cut off before she could finish her statement. "Yes, you're right. Your name, Heaven and Hell, it's not some coincidence. This war coming, it started, but not correctly."
"What do you mean?" Gray questioned. While Gray was confused, the gears in Lucy's head were spinning.
"The war was supposed to start with the splitting of you and Natsu Dragneel, and Lucy Heartphilia wasn't supposed to factor in until later on. Instead, all three of you left together, and you're fighting together. That's good. Hell, Natsu Dragneel. Heaven, Gray Fullbuster. Lucy Heartphilia, no one knows yet." The figure spoke.
"The guild Fatum Est, it's them isn't it?" Lucy questioned, though it was more so a statement. Gray, now confused more than earlier, looked at Lucy for an explanation. She looked to the cloaked figure who simply nodded, letting her know she was right, and within a moment the figure was gone.
"Anyways, Fatum Est, the words alone are Latin, they mean One Destiny. It was a guild formed, and disbanded, hundreds of years ago that focused simply on the meaning of the universe and the destiny of every single human being. They would torture those who tried to go against their supposed destiny. Like mentioned earlier, Enochian, it's the supposed mysterious lost language of angels, which is also linked to the Fatum Est guild." Lucy explained, and Gray's stomach dropped, getting a very bad feeling.
"And what do we have to do with this?" Gray was scared to ask, but he wanted answers. And as of now, it seemed that Lucy had all the knowledge in the world about them.
"When we get out of this dream state, or whatever it is, we need to get out of here. I know where the Fatum Est guild is, and they're strong. And if that person was right, which according to everything I've read in my spare time all these years, they are." Lucy spoke, and Gray grabbed onto her shoulder, the two still sitting side by side against a tree.
"What about the Grand Magic Games and getting Fairy Tail to see us through?" Gray questioned, and Lucy laid her hand atop of his.
"Simple, we defeat Fatum Est, the spell is gone." Lucy explained.
"Last of all, do we take anyone with us, or is it just us?" Gray asked, and Lucy thought for a moment.
"I don't know, what do you think?" Lucy responded, causing Gray to go into serious consideration with himself. "We should tell Lamia Scale, let them know so they can keep watch. We'll go and take a Miniature Communication Lacrima with us incase things go south and we need backup." Gray offered as his plan, and Lucy nodded. The two stood up, their backs scratching against the tree bark.
"They haven't woken up yet, it's been twelve hours." Lyon said, his voice coated with worry. Just moments later, both of their eyes shot up and they sat straight up in their beds, their markings appearing yet again. "You're okay!" Yelled the entire guild of Lamia Scale. However, while they expected Gray and Lucy to be ecstatic and joyful, all they saw were worry, determination, and the slightest hint of fear.
"Are you alright?" Jura questioned, and the two hospitalized mages looked around the room, making sure to make eye contact with each and every single one of them. With one glance at each other, they explain everything that's happened to the members of Lamia Scale, and their plan.
"That's a suicide mission!" Lyon and Natsu yelled, their fists balled up. Gray and Lucy threw the blankets off of their bodies. "Suicide mission or not, we're adults and this is our decision." Gray spoke.
"That's selfish, you know." Sherria spoke quietly. "You two will most likely not make it back," Jura continued her words, "So why go? Just the two of you?" Silence filled the air.
"Luce, Popsicle, you can't really be thinking about charging into a guild like that." Natsu spoke. His usual enthusiasm or faith in his friends was gone. Ooba handed Gray a Miniature Communication Lacrima, and one to Natsu.
"Go, don't fail." With that, Gray and Lucy vanished into thin air. What no one seemed to remember was that they were never healed from the affects of Fairy Law.
