Danielle's POV

"Just breathe Danielle, you'll do fine. Don't freak out. Don't get too mad. And if anything goes wrong just get out of there as fast as you can" I sigh and take a deep breath. "You can do this. You have been playing soccer since you could walk. And now you have a shot to be on the team of Hillwood High School. You can't blow this. You can control yourself." I felt dumb talking to my self but, it was the only way to clam my nerves. Elli promised me she would tryout with me but, she got sick the day before tryouts.

So, I was sitting alone on the bleachers. None of my other friends were really into sports. Elli supported me because we have known each other since we were in diapers.

"Nicole, your up" Coach Jefferson says

I sigh and stand up from my spot on the bleachers and walk over to him "Who am I up against?"

"Cimorelli" he states simply

"But, coach she's like the best player on the team. Not to mention she is a fantastic goalie. How am I gonna get the ball past her?" I ask

"I don't care how but show me you can do it and you are on the team since no one else could" he says

I gulp and grab one of the soccer balls and walk to in front of the goal. Lisa smirks.

Lisa Cimorelli, amazing athlete. Most of my friends think she is stuck up. She is actually really a nice person to be around once you get to know her. Her parents and my parents are friends so we talked to each other. And plus we are partners in chemistry.

"Hey, don't worry Dani. I'll go easy on you" Ugh, how I despise that nickname. She knew I did too that's why she called me it, she liked to tease me about it. In fact her whole family did. When I went over to her place to work on projects or my parents would drag me to their house for dinners. I place the ball down "Don't choke up Dani!" I glare at her and she just shrugs its as if she didn't even want me on the team.

I take a deep breath and block Lisa out as I mumble a few words of confidence to my self. I close my eyes and block everyone out. I open my eyes them only looking for a way to get the ball past Lisa. Once I found my shot I took the chance and kicked the ball as hard as I could, it flying past Lisa into the goal.

The coach stared in shock and I could tell Lisa was a little mad. "Welcome to the team Nicole" coach says

"Really?" I ask completely shocked. I mean yeah he said to get I past Lisa but I thought there would be more.

Coach nods "Be at practice tomorrow. And it will be official"

I was in the locker room changing back into my regular clothes I can't believe I made the soccer team.

"Hey, Dani?" I turn and see Lisa

"Hey?" I say kinda confused

"Don't act like you have never talked to me before" she says leaning against the wall

"Sorry, just kinda shock.. I thought you would be mad that I got the ball past the amazing Cimorelli" I say sarcastically

"Real funny Dani. I wanted you to make the team. I know you would make the team good. Well, with who you are" she says

I turn and glare at her "The team is gold as it is. The other teams can't even make a goal with you. Well, with who you are" I say mocking her

"No, we tie every game. And coach is really tired of losing... ish. The school has a winning record, with you we have no chance of losing" she says

"Well I'm glad you wanted me on the team. I thought you hated me"

"I have known you since I was eight and you were six. You are like my little sister. I don't hate you, I  just passionately dislike you" she says smiling brightly.

"Oh thanks" I say finishing up getting dressed

"But really, I'm glad you made the team. With me and you the team is gonna be unstoppable. Oh and wait till mom tells your mom"

"Wait, your mom knows?" I ask

"Yeah, she told me to tell you congratulations. And that there's gonna be dinner at my place. So, I'll see you tonight?" She asks

"Not like I'll have a choice. One, mom will force me there. Two, isn't that thing at your place this month?"

"Oh, I completely forgot about that. Mom has been pressing me about it. And I forgot" she says shaking her head.

I laugh "You will do fine, just think of someone or something that makes you the happiest person ever"

"I can't when I don't have someone who makes me happy that much. Hey, you need a ride?"

"Yes, and what about your family?" I ask gathering my things putting them in my bag

"I tried that. It didn't work." She says "Maybe I'm over thinking it?"

I shrug "Maybe" I pick up my bag and walk out of the locker room with Lisa

"So, do you hear?" Lisa asks

"Hear what?"

"About Lauren?"

"Lauren? Do you mean Lauren Christine?" I say gulping

"Yes, she's gonna be around a lot by the way" Lisa tells me

"Why?! I mean, why?" I say looking at Lisa like she was crazy

"You'll see. Why does it matter? Awe does someone have a crush?" She says pinching my cheeks

"Ew, no. I don't like Lauren that's why. She's a bitch who is spoiled rotten" I say

"Well, you are gonna have to get used to is. Cause we are gonna be seeing a lot more of her" Lisa says

I sigh gulping. How am I supposed to get used to my enemy? The mention of Lauren's name makes me nervous seeing her makes it worse. Hearing her spit evil words makes me wanna rip her throat out. So how the hell am I supposed to get used to it?
