Chapter Fourteen
I Promised

3rd Person POV

"so what do you think?" jason asked as they stopped playing and they sat her back down. she looked at the kids as their chest rose and fell as they waited

"guys that was amazing, it truly is a spotlight moment" she exclaimed and a kid ran over and hugged her as she smiled and ruffled her hair

"yeah i just wish mitchie would see it that way" jason said sadly and she nodded in agreement

"she called me a cash cow for my parents" she said and jason snapped his head and eyes towards her

"you don't believe her right?" he asked and she shrugged speechlessly

"i don't want to but all my mom ever does is overwork me and maybe mitchies right" ronnie stated

"she's not" nate spoke and ronnie turned around to look at him

"hi nate" she spoke and he smiled before the kids started talking

"hi" he said and they turned to the kids with jason

"ronnie help" he said and she nodded softly as she stepped forward and the kids became quiet

"i promised you guys would have a spot and you will, that won't change. what you just showed me, that is a spotlight moment jason is right and if mitchie wont take the time, to not be a fun vampire and hold herself to her promises, then i will hold myself to mine" she said and jason started to speak

"guys! guys! calm down. mitchie didn't say no, she said she'd think about it and we do have ronnie on our side" he said and she smiled as nate did too

"on your side" she said and the door opened as they turned to see shane standing at the doors

"all work and no spray makes a very unhappy rocker so i got a proposition for you guys. you think you're up for it?" he asked and the kids nodded

"oh this won't end well with the fun vampire" ronnie spoke and nate laughed

"is that her new name now?" he asked and she nodded

"ever since she became one yep, mitchies gone. she's like the dracula of fun vampire" she said and the kids laughed as they stared at ronnie and nate

"alright shane what's the plan?" ronnie asked for the kids and he smiled as he walked in and closed the door

"i'm glad you asked" he said and he stood next to jason as the kids stared and waited

"alright so ronnie you know where the hose is?" he started and she nodded

"next to the mess hall yeah" she said

"alright so we need to find every possible water gun there is and fill it with water. there are water balloons around here somewhere right?" he asked and nate nodded

"yeah me and ronnie will find them" he volunteered

"great, we have buckets of water that need to filled and a lot of guns, let's get to work" he said and they all nodded before the kids ran out and ronnie looked at nate

"let's go find those water balloons" she said and she wrapped his hand in hers as they left and jason watched with shane as smiles her on their face

"oh he is so in love with her, it's kind of sickening" jason said and shane bumped his shoulder

"let's go" he said and they left the cabin as they found the water guns and started to fill them

"so veronica?" nate said and she looked at him

"yeah?" she asked

"what do you want to know?" he asked and she shrugged

"the dumb things to be honest. like your philosophical thoughts and feelings. your favorite color and animal and food and artist and place. nate i want to know you and not some random guy named nate gray whose the bassist of connect 3" she said and he smiled

"and you'll find all of that out soon, i just don't know how to tell you" he said as they climbed up the stairs and walked into the room. ronnie looked around before she went to a shelve and grabbed 4 to 6 boxes of water balloons

"think these would be enough?" she asked and he nodded with a smirk on his face

"yep now let's go" he said and they ran to the sinks as they grabbed a bucket and started to fill it with water balloons. that was until ronnie tied one off and she threw it at nate making him get soaked

"RONNIE!" he said and she smiled brightly at him before he grabbed one and threw it at her

"TRUCE, TRUCE! I CALL TRUCE" she yelled and he smiled as he stepped forward and removed the ballon plastic from her face . he held her faces between his hands as they stared at each other and he sighed softly

"ronnie..." he led off and she smiled softly at him

"yeah?" she whispered waiting for him to say anything. whatever she wanted to hear

"hey you guys coming?" shane asked and they pulled away from each other as they nodded softly

"i um yeah here we'll be right out" ronnie said and she handed the bucket to shane as he took it gratefully and put his water gun in his pocket

"i interrupted something didn't i?" he asked and she nodded

"you did but it's okay, let's go" she said and she grabbed nate's hand as they took their water guns from shane and held them. they ran out of the cabin and found everyone else

"ready?" he asked and they all nodded as they heard mitchie start to complain

"let's do this" ronnie said and they ran

"ATTACK!" shane yelled and they started to hit each other with the water balloons and the water gun. they all
smiled happily as sander sprayed them and brown walked out

"COUNTER ATTACK!" brown yelled and they started to hit him with water balloons before they ran out to the dock and jumped in. ronnie smiled happily as she splashed them

she actually felt happy at camp for one
