Chapter 18: Savage shit.
Have you ever dreamt about falling? Not falling for a person but literally falling, like falling in a long deep endless pit? Yes? No? Well, I definitely had that dream tonight. I slipped and fell inside a wishing well, it was very very long and it just went on and on and on and just when I was about to hit the bottom, I woke up. My Dad used to tell me stories about that dream, he said you never hit the bottom because neither your mind nor your body knows what happens after you die. That explaination made sense to me but now that I've experienced it, I understand it even better.
I woke up pretty early today, my body hurts a little due to the fact that I slept on the couch and ended up on the floor but the good news is that I managed to clean the house, all by myself and my mom is not home yet so luck is on my side this morning.
I feel tired, hungry and dirty.
"Allie, I'm home." Announces my mom from the front door.
I look around for anything that might be out of place. Clear.
"In the living room." My tone comes out lower than I planned, she walks in with a suspicious look on her face.
I knew it, it was too good to be true she already figured me out.
"Why is this place looking super clean? I know you don't clean unless I force you to." She scans the place with her eyes.
Why is she complaining, isn't this like every parent's dream?
"I had time." I lie horribly while looking around the house myself.
Lying has become a certain habit that I do not want to keep around.
"Oh Really?" She asks, sitting next to me.
"Yes." I nod yes, not keeping eye contact.
I'm never doing anything like last night ever again, my innocent virgin eyes had to see stuff that I'd rather not mention and to top it off, Sofia and her minions sent me a video to wish me a good morning, what's so good about this morning? and who the hell gave them my number.
"How was working at night?" I try to change the subject.
"Huh?" She's suddenly lost.
"Your job, you said you were-"
"Oh yes yes, it was good, tired right now." She lets out a fake yawn which I find very suspicious myself.
A knock from the door stops me from asking her any further questions.
"I'll get it." She gets up quickly.
Is she avoiding my upcoming questions? If she was just at work, why is acting all weird about it? and why do I feel like she's hiding something from me.
My investigator instincts are acting up again.
"Hey, Allie, look who's here to help you clean up." My mom walks into the living room with Nick. he has a black trash bag in his hand, his wearing a black tank top with grey Nike shorts and his hair is really messy like he's just from waking up.
He looks very beautiful though.
God, did I just call him beautiful?
Shit's getting real.
Nah, I've just never seen him in a tank top before and it's a very good look on him, it shows his broad muscles and everything.
I notice a tattoo writing on his chest, the ink is written in cursive writing but I can only see half of it, I can't read what it says and the rest of words are hidding underneath his shirt.
I didn't know he had a tattoo.
"Oh, there you are." I stand to put my arm around Nick's shoulder, damn he's really tall. "I texted him to come help me since he helped me last time but dude, that was like three hours ago." I turn to look at Nick.
He gives me the 'seriously?' look but I brush it off.
"Yeah, I had to help my mom with something." He plays along, even his voice sounds sleepy.
"Okay, if you say so." She doesn't sound convinced, "I'm gonna go lay down for a second in my room." She says, then leaves us alone.
I retrieve my arm from Nick's shoulder and then boom, last night's events come circling on top of my head.
I held Nick's hand, I hugged him and begged him to stay, I puked on his shoes, I let him hold my hair back while I vomited my guts out, I admitted that we had a 'moment' in the hallways, I let him cover my mouth with his hand and I'm pretty sure we were seconds away from kissing one another. Did I mention that drinking alcohol was not for me?
"Excuse me while I go die in a hole." I try to walk passed him, he holds my arm but lets go before I call him out on it.
"Why? Because you puked on my shoes?" He smirks.
"Because of a lot of things." I respond.
"Yeah, you pretty much called yourself a bitch for me." He sits down on the couch, resting his right foot on his left knee. Did I boost his ego?
And yeah, I left that part out.
"I was apologizing." I defend myself.
"Keep telling yourself that." He grins.
"I'm gonna go shower now." I really can't stand this guy's ego.
"Hey who helped you clean?" He looks around the place the same way mom did.
"Nobody, I got up really early." I respond.
"You should have texted me, I would have helped you." He says.
How thoughtful.
But I wasn't thinking about who or what can help me clean, I just wanted it done before my mom got home.
"I don't have your number." Is the only response I think of giving.
"Oh." He says blankly, "Hey can I take you somewhere after you shower?" He asks, curiously looking at me.
He looks really serious but I don't know what to tell him, I don't know where he wants to take me and he said some pretty messed up things to me last night. The thought of me being alone with him scares me.
"Yeah, sure." I utter, so unsure of myself but what could go wrong, right?
"Cool." He just nods and stares at me.
"Can I go shower now or..?" I trail.
"Sure, unless you want me to go and shower with you." He suggests, teasingly.
My mouth creeps into a smile.
"I think I might blind you." I joke, Nick scoffs.
"Okay I was not expecting that one." He points at me, "And I think it totally turned me on." He turns to look at the TV and I roll my eyes at him.
"You look like shit by the way." I tell him.
"It's called a hangover, Princess, you don't get one of those?" He asks.
Oh yeah, a hangover, I have no idea what that is.
"Nope."
He raises his eyebrows at me like saying 'really' in dramatic disbelief.
"Wow, Parker, that is some badass Savage shit." He laughs and I roll my eyes once again.
"Creep." I walk out of the room.
"Stalker." I hear him respond.
I finally get to take off these awful, god awful pajamas that Sofia made us put on last night, I wrap my naked body in a pink towel and head to the shower, I start with brushing my teeth, my toothbrush has this strong minty taste that tells me I need a new one, after I'm done brushing my teeth, I drop my towel on the floor and enter the shower, I close my eyes when the hot water hits my skin. This is exactly what I needed.
After showering for what felt like half an hour, I head back to my bedroom and search for the right clothes to wear, I don't know where Nick is taking me. I definitely do not own a dress or a skirt and speaking of skirts and dresses, I'm supposed to attend a dance next Friday, what am I gonna wear?
Worry about that later, Allison.
I decide to wear a plain white tank top, denim shorts and my black Converse shoes, I put my hair into a tight ponytail and I head downstairs.
Nick is still watching TV in the living room with his feet on the coffee table.
"Can we like go before my mom wakes up?" I ask behind him, he turns to look at me from head to toe.
If only he knew how incredibly uncomfortable that look is.
"Hot. And when am I ever going to have the pleasure of seeing you in a tight dress?" He asks, standing up and shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Probably never, can we go?" I roll my eyes at him, I begin to walk out of the house and he follows behind me, I can feel his gaze on my back. Probably staring at my ass. I hate it.
Nick goes into his house to grab his car keys, he invited me in but I refused so he left me standing by his car. He comes out wearing black jeans which is a bummer because the shorts looked great on him but at least he left the tank top on.
We hop in his car and he reverses his it out of the driveway like a crazy person, knocking their trash can with his car and driving away.
"Are you crazy!" I scream at him, looking back at the mess he made.
"Calm down, someone will pick it up." He says like it's nothing.
I glare at him as he lights a cigarette, holding it between his lips and squints his eyes at the road, I open the window to let fresh air dissolve the smoke.
"Isn't it like too early for you to smoke?" I ask, reaching for air with my head outside the window.
I'm trying so hard not to slap it away from his lips.
"There's no such thing as too early to smoke." He dryly remarks.
"You know those things will kill you, right?" I scowl my face at him.
"I know, baby but they also help calm my nerves." He holds it between his fingers while looking at me then back at the road.
What is he nervous about? I'm the one who doesn't know where we're going.
"Please don't call me stupid pet names, it's ridiculous." I say to him.
"Are you even human?" He pokes my shoulder with his index finger.
"I'm not sure, maybe I got kicked out of my planet then humans wiped out my memory." I say sarcastically.
He laughs, returning the cigarette to his lips again but I snatch it and I toss it out the window.
Finally, I can breathe.
"Hey! You've gotta stop doing that." He shakes his head.
"And you've got to stop smoking" I say.
"Control freak." He murmurs, sticking his elbow out the window.
I'm about to respond but my phone vibrates in my pocket, I find a message from Carl, I unlock my phone to read it, there's a mirror picture of him in a black suit.
*Does this look okay to you?* He asks.
I giggle at how adorable it is for him to ask his date about how the suit he's going to wear on their date looks like.
Nick snatches the phone from my hands and holds it in his hand to read the message.
"Give it back, douchebag!" I demand, trying to reach for it but he holds it further outside the window.
"Nickolas Adams, I swear to God if you drop my phone on the freaking road I'm gonna-"
"You're gonna what?" He says in a daring tone, shifting his eyes from the road to my face.
Such a man child.
"Just give it back, I gotta reply or else he'll think that I didn't like it." I say calmly.
He brings the phone closer to his face in order to read the message, his hand on the wheel with his eyes on my phone.
Invasion of privacy much?
"He looks fucking ridiculous." He rudely tosses my phone on my lap and looks back at the road, gripping both his hands on the wheel.
"I think he looks handsome, you're just jealous." I say in a cocky tone.
*it looks great, I really love it* I reply to Carl.
"I'm not jealous of that guy, I just hate him and by the looks of how he childishly announced in the cafeteria, I'm guessing he's taking you to that lame dance?" He asks, eyeing me briefly.
"Yes, he's taking me, gotta problem with that?" I ask with a big smile.
"No, let the boy have his fun while it lasts." He says, sounding mysterious.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask curiously looking at him.
"It means let him have his fun." He repeats himself, his eyes concentrating on the road.
This is one of the reasons why I think he's kinda up to something, let the boy have his fun while it lasts? Who says that and not mean anything by it.
"Weirdo." I look out the window.
The rest of the ride to this mysterious destination goes in complete silence, if I didn't know better, I would say that Nick seems to be upset about the whole Carl thing but I definitely know better, I guess he just got tired of talking and decided to stay quiet. That's a theory right?
I begin to fear for my life when Nick keeps on driving all the way out of town, I snap my head to look at him, his eyes are still glued to the road. For all I know, he might be thinking of kidnapping me or even worse, murdering me.
I really gotta stop watching those documentaries.
After a long silent ride, he finally parks his car in front of a trailer restaurant, there are two other cars parked in front of it.
Seriously? A restaurant?
We both get out of his car.
I stifle a giggle at the name of the restaurant, it says 'far far away' it actually reminds me of the movie Shrek.
"Because it's in the middle of nowhere." Nick answers my thoughts.
Figured.
Nick leads the way inside the restaurant, a bell above the door jiggles behind us, notifying our entrance after I close the door.
Nick and I sit at the table nearest to the door, there are only about six other people in here, it's so strange.
A pretty blonde girl probably in her early twenties approaches us with a little note book and a pen in her hands.
"Nick?" She asks, pointing at Nick with her pen.
Nick looks up at her, I see him literally read her name tag before giving her his best smile yet and responding..
"Samantha." He acts like he so knew her name by heart and totally didn't read it on the tag, "been a minute." He adds.
Oh God, I feel like stabbing myself in the eye with a fork.
"Yeah." She bites the corner of her bottom lip.
Awk-ward.
SILENCE.
They just stare at each other, waiting for the other person to speak but by the looks of it, I don't think any of them are gonna say anything.
I'm like really hungry and this awkward stare contest in front of me is making me hungrier.
"What can I get you guys?" She finally asks.
Thank God.
I lift the menu in my hands, deciding on what it is that I'm gonna stuff my face with.
"I'll have a cheese burger with fries and a smoothie." I request while she writes them down.
She turns to Nick.
"The usual?" She asks him, he nods yes and she walks away.
The usual? How many times has he been here?
"Did you bang the hot waitress?" I chuckle lightly, swinging my thumb over my shoulder.
He bites on his thumb nail, "No"
Oh my gosh.
"You did." I exclaim.
"No, I did not, we shared a cigarette behind the trailer last time I was here and.. made out for like two minutes." He whispers the last part, scratching the back of his head.
Player.
"Anyway, how did you even find this place?" I ask, looking around the small restaurant.
The place is practically in the middle of nowhere and the last time I checked, Nick is still new around here.
"There was this one time I argued with my mom, I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone so I just kept driving and driving and that's how I found it, when I walked in, everyone was making a clapping beat for this Mexican guy that was singing for his long lost lover." He laughs at the memory, "He said their love was not meant to be so she ran away from home and he was on a quest to find her, I thought it was dumb, cliché and stupid but it still put a smile on my face and I forgot about my current problem." He explains with a faint smile.
Nick argues with his mom almost every night, I feel bad for that poor woman, she really tries.
Samantha delivers our food on a tray, she places a plate full of fries with a burger and smoothie on my side of the table then she places a plate full of waffles in front of Nick, She smiles at us before walking to another table.
She's really nice, I think I like her.
"Waffles? That's your usual?" I ask.
"Yep, waffles remind me of my childhood, back then life didn't fucking suck as much as now." He stabs the waffle with a fork.
Cruelty.
I don't understand what Nick means by life sucks for him now, I'm guessing it's just about the arguments he has with his mom but one can never know.
I take a bite of my hot burger.
CRUNCH.
I close my eyes and moan at the good taste, I love food more than I love my life.
"Calm down, Allison, it's just a burger." He says with his mouth full.
What else is it supposed to be, moron.
"Ever had anything better than food?" I ask, adding too much ketchup to my fries.
"Sex." He says in an obvious tone.
I pause with my hands escorting my burger to my open mouth.
I think I'm gonna be sick, I put the burger back down on the plate.
"So, you're telling me that you would rather have sex than eat?" I sip on my smoothie.
"Not exactly, I'm saying I prefer sex more than food." He shrugs. I laugh.
I'm not gonna judge him because that's his opinion and I was taught to respect other people's opinions.
"But Nick, it's food." I point down at my plate.
"But Allison, it's sex." He smirks at me, I shake my head at him.
"Sex addict." I whisper to myself but judging by the look on his face, he heard me loud and clear.
"How about you go have sex and then we'll come talk about this later, like real adults." He points out with a mischievous smile.
I'll remember to write this down in my invisible diary, never love sex more than food and prove Nick wrong afterwards. Got it.
But wait a sec.
"How do you know that I haven't already done it? ... cause I have." I lie, avoiding eye contact.
He laughs at first but stops when he notices how serious I am, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to laugh at you." He chuckles softly, I roll my eyes.
But you already did.
"How are you so sure that I haven't?" I tilt my head to my left.
"I can tell." He plays with his food using the fork.
He can tell? Is it like written somewhere on my body? Is it on my face? Hand? Shoulder? Boobs?
Ugh! Calm down Allison, he doesn't know shit but I'm sure Amanda opened her mouth about it.
"Don't act all guru, I know Amanda told you." I lean back on my seat and sip on my drink.
"No, she didn't." He nods no.
"Then who did?" I ask, folding my arms over my chest.
"I was suspecting it but you just confirmed it." He steals a fry from my plate.
I facepalm embarrassingly, sinking deeper into my seat and wishing it would just swallow me whole.
"Aw, don't be embarrassed, life is everything before you have sex. Trust me." I hear him say, I'm not even glancing his direction at this point.
I'm so stupid.
"Are you done? We gotta go somewhere else before sunset." He checks his phone for something.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see." He smiles at me.
