Chapter 11: Popular kids.

I feel like I've been sitting on this wooden chair for two days straight when it's only been an hour or so, Mr Brent, the physics teacher keeps going on and on about kinetic energy and all that knowledge. All I want right now is for this God awful day to be over. I miss my mother, I miss my comfy bed and-

DING!

My day dreaming gets cut short by the bell. Thank you master of time.

"Test on Wednesday, I'd advise you to study harder." Mr Brent announces and the whole class groans as they pack their books.

They are right to groan, Mr Brent's test questions do not joke around at all but not for me, I don't worry about that because I study my butt off every day and night.

"C'mon kids, this will be a lot simpler for all of us if you just study." he points out.

"Some bullshit!" shouts Miles, a jock who is always passing silly comments in class, he's the kind of guy that makes a teacher's career feel like a total waste of a life time. Mr Brent doesn't acknowledge or entertain Miles, he is smarter than that.

I ought to learn a lot from him because regardless of being a physics teacher, he is the second wisest person I know. He gives really good life advice that I hold on to.

I quickly pack my books inside my backpack, swinging it over my shoulder and exiting the classroom, the hallway is crowded with people trying to reach the exit and catch the bus or get home on time.

I guess I'm not the only one who's so eager to get out of here.

I think about looking for Amanda but I decide against it after remembering the fact that she has a car and I have to catch the freaking bus.

I push the heavy red doors open, finally, I can breath in fresh air and not teenage armpit sweat.

"Hey!" I hear a female voice call behind me but I don't recognize it so I continue my journey to where the bus is parked on the parking lot.

"Allison, right?" I hear her ask, I stop in my tracks, turning around.

I'm nearly mesmerized by who I see calling my name, I'm so surprised that at some point I turn my head just to make sure there isn't another Allison behind me.

"Me?" I point at my own chest.

"Yes you, don't be silly, who else would I be talking to." Sofia says in a duh tone, flipping her gorgeous long brown hair behind her.

I never thought Sofia knew my name, heck, I didn't even think she knew I existed. Girls like Sofia and Jason's sister Lilian literally pick who's name they get to know and for what reasons, which also means. There is a reason why this beautiful manipulating chick is talking to me right now.

"Can I help you with something?" My tone suddenly turns cold. I hate being used and that's exactly what these good for nothing popular kids do all day long.

She probably wants me to do her homework.

"No, nothing much just wanted to see how you were doing." she lies, playing with her perfectly manicured nails.

"I'm great, can I go now?" I ask with a fake grin on my face.

"Uhm yeah, sure but I was wondering if we could be friends?" She asks genuinely.

Friends? First Nick and now her. I think not?

I wouldn't think of ten million reasons why Sofia freaking Martinez would want to be 'friends' with a nerdy nobody like me.

"Why?" I ask curiosity.

"Because I think you and your friend Amanda are really cool, Jason and Nick told us about how you guys threw this epic sleepover and that sounded really cool to me." she chirps cheerfully. How dumb.

That night was not epic, it was full of tears and awkwardness.

Wait a second, why would Nick and Jason talk about that night with Sofia? Isn't she like the main chick? She's supposed to be deeply pissed at this story and not finding it cool.

"I thought you hated Amanda for going out with Jason." I cross my arms over my chest and narrow my eyes at her like an investigator.

"I did but not anymore, I found a much hotter guy than Jason so she can have him." she whispers the last part to me.

Great. I wonder who that is.

"Okay fine we're friends, can I go now?" I ask for permission.

"Sure thing, my girls and I will be expecting you to invite us over for a sleepover one of these days. Bye now." she flickers her fingers in a wave of goodbye and walks to her car. I could sense her rolling her eyes at me as she turned.

I know they are up to something and I swear. I never swear but on this day I do swear that I'm gonna find out what it is.

I continue my stroll towards the bus but before I reach my destination, I lock eyes with Jason. His sitting on the hood of his Jeep with a cigarette between his fingers, I notice that Miles is there with him. The duo I would never dream of colliding with.

These idiots are smoking on school grounds and near a machine full of flammable gas in it.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only kid who thinks about these little yet important things.

"Hey, princess." he waves, I ignore him. Miles chuckles and says something to Jason.

I'm pretty good at ignoring people and Nick calls me princess, these douchebags definitely talk about me.

"Oh c'mon, don't bitch out on me." He adds but I keep on walking, quickening my pace even.

I hear him following behind me.

Damnit, should I run?

Before I make a decision in my brain, he catches up to me then grasps my arm.

These people should quit doing this to me.

"What is it now?" I whine.

"I just wanna know what Sofia said to you." He raises his hands in the air.

"Like you don't know." I say.

"I don't, that's why I'm fucking asking." he proves his point.

He really seems like he truly doesn't know which means Sofia is planning crap on her own.

Wait, why am I getting paranoid?

"She said she wanted to be my friend, apparently Amanda and I are cool because of our last sleepover. It sounded too stupid for my ears to handle but she seemed determined." I explain to him and he chuckles.

"Something funny?"

"That stupid bitch is up to something." He says my thoughts out loud.

"I think she wants to get back at Amanda for stealing you from her." I say to him.

"Amanda never stole me from anyone, she thought Sofia and I were broken up at the time and I have explained this to Sofia but once that girl sets her mind up to no good it's utterly impossible to change it." he says.

"I think I might have invited her over for a sleepover." I bite my teeth.

"That's actually the only way of knowing her true intentions." He approves, "Come on, I'll give you a ride home." He starts walking back to his car.

"I'm actually taking the-" I pause mid-sentence when I turn to find the bus already gone.

Great, now I have to ride with two jock idiots.

I jog, catching up to him.

"Where's Nick by the way?" I ask Jason, looking around the lot for his car but it's not in sight.

"Miss him already?" He winks at me teasingly and I roll my eyes as we reach his car, Jason gets on the driver's seat while Miles takes the passenger's and I get in the back.

Quite the opposite actually, My life is much more peaceful without that boy in it. he is way too much for me to handle.

"No, just curious." I respond as Jason pulls out of the school parking lot.

"I call bullshit, if you want to play hard to get, I totally get it and to answer your question, he had to take care of some business but hey, you can always catch a glimpse of him right across your window at night." I can hear him smiling as he says this.

For a second there it was like the air got sucked out of me and there was no more oxygen on earth. Just total emptiness.

He freaking told him!

Why am I surprised? He's Nick, of course he told someone about a girl watching him shirtless from her window.

But I agreed to be his friend just so he wouldn't tell anyone about it.

What if I freaked him out when I said that his presence made me uncomfortable so he decided that we're not friends anymore and that's why he told his friend about me watching him from my window.

Why was I watching him in the first place?

Ugh!! I hate thinking too much.

The scent of cigarettes brings me back to reality.

They are smoking and driving while I'm in the car. I don't want to die at seventeen.

"Can you guys please not smoke?" I ask sincerely, hoping that they listen.

"Who are you and where did you come from?" Asks Miles, his tone full of sarcasm.

"Dude." Jason gives his friend some kind of a warning signal, "For Nick's princess, we will do anything." he throws the cigarette outside the window.

I'm glad he threw it away but I'm not glad he called me Nick's princess.

What bullcrap lies has Nick been feeding these people?
