Chapter 2

Alaina felt that her life was boring at best. As she tried to pay attention in her list of boring classes, she knew another fail was coming her way. Vectors? Integration? Organic chemistry? Physics in general? They were just out of her scope. No matter how many hours of work she put into them, she just couldn't lift her grade. She tried everything. Whether it be extra time, homework or paying attention in class nothing would work. And if she asked her parents for help, she might as well be dead. She was already a failure in their eyes, and this would be the ultimatum.

You would expect her to ask her teachers right? Well, one time she did, and despite all her efforts and work, she was only seen as a child who had supposedly no interest in school. They ended up looking past her hard work and instead focused on the fact that she wasn't able to understand. Never did they even consider the possibility that their teaching methods weren't working, it was Alaina's fault right? It would always be.

She looked over to the group sitting in the front. They would continuously  ask questions, make jokes, only pay attention half of the time, yet somehow would get the perfect A grade. On top of that teachers loved them. It wasn't fair. No matter how much chaos they caused, the teachers would be the first to forgive.

She wished she could be like them. Maybe even live their lives. She hoped their life was better than hers. To be honest no one deserved a life like hers. Okay... maybe living someone else's life isn't the best way to deal with her situation. But there was one thing...

She always wished that she could be part of the drama. Or at least be aware of it. Everyone around her either was part of it or knew about it. It wasn't fair. Everytime Alaina would try to ask someone, they would give her wide eyes saying that they wouldn't possibly know anything. And once, she even dared to ask one of those who was in the drama. But obviously they wouldn't want to talk about it, especially to a "nobody" like Alaina.

After a point, Alaina simply gave up. She tried to keep her mind off of school drama, by reading fanfiction. They were little packets of drama comprising of her favorite book characters bringing scenes, she never could imagine. Every lunch break, she would read. Sitting in an unknown corner of the cafeteria, food in front of her, she would descend into different worlds. She could be at Hogwarts, District 12, or even at camp half-blood. Unfortunately, the bell would ring and she would be forced to go to class, forced to endure another hour of suffering

Alaina hated school. She loathed her classes and her loneliness. It was the worst thing of her life. Scratch that, it was the second worst. The worst is home.
