Chapter 7

"We will fight with you." I told them, my head brimming with overconfidence. We walked in the training room where they had been practicing.

"3, 2, 1." Felix counted down. "Start."

Instantly, Ivy trapped them both in darkness voids, and a minute later, Felix used his spatial to magic be get both him and Dustin out of there.

"I got it." She said in a low voice and I gave her a firm nod. I turned my attention to Dustin, and grinned. My light magic was probably the only thing that could counter his gravity magic, as light was not affected by gravity.

I spent spears hurling at him, and he sent bursts of gravity weighing down at me. The first few times he did that, I fell flat on my face, and my nose started bleeding. Then I had figured out how to save myself from that attack.

I could feel a vibration kind of thing right before his attack hit me. I just had to dodge the attack, and keep moving constantly.

"Stop saving your power, Dustin and help me!" Felix yelled. I felt a rumble, not just a vibration, and as I dodged, the gravity hit me hard, knocking me out.

Get up, you have to help Ivy!
Seriously Luke, you're in the middle of a fight!
This is so weak and pathetic.

Everything was dark, and my head was hurting. I wanted to help Ivy, but I couldn't move. When my head finally stopped ringing, I opened my eyes, and I saw Ivy fighting with those two. I had been encased by healing flames, which was probably why I was conscious.

Her breathing was deep and shallow, and blood was pouring from the side of her head. Her eyes were red, and it took me a couple of seconds to understand what was going on. She was trying to blast these two off too.

I got up, and I saw and icicle go into Dustin's chest. Her eyes had turned icy blue. Her breathing was quite like what I'd seen yesterday but she was still fighting.

"Ivy! Are you okay?" I yelled.

She shook her head, and I could see tears in her eyes while I just helplessly sat on the ground.

I raised my hand to finish Dustin off, so at least we'd have one less competitor. "Wait!" Felix shouted, "Don't kill him! We forfeit."

I walked over to Ivy, who was standing with her hands on her knees, gasping for breath. I hesitated, but then put my hand on her back, and spread my warm healing magic inside of her.

Her breathing eased, and she turned to my gratefully. "Thanks." She said, and fainted.

I caught her right before her body went slack and fell to the ground, and looked at her for a few seconds.

"Ivy? Did you faint?" No answer.

I could feel her weak pulse on her wrist, and I hauled her and carried her to my room.

"Ivy? Ivy? Ivy? Ivy?" I asked, once she was laying on me bed. "Ivy? Ivy? Ivy. Ivy. Ivy. Ivy." I didn't know when a question to wake her up turned into a prayer of her name.

"Should I take her to the nurse's cabin?" I asked out loud. "Should I?" I asked looking at Ivy, expecting her to answer.

'Don't call anyone.' I remembered her saying to me yesterday.

I could take her to my doctor, who is sworn to secrecy.

I picked up my phone, and searched for his name in the contact list.

Dr. Bob. I know, very generic name, but his real name was Bartholomew or something.

"Good morning. Can you come to the training centre?" I asked.

He tutted, "I swear, Luke, if you injured yourself again, I'll let you bleed to-"

I cut him off, "It's not for me, Dr. Bob."

"Bartholomew. I'm coming in ten minutes." He corrected me.

Dr. Bob was probably one of the few people who cared about me and the few people I trusted. I looked over at Ivy again, and her pale lips. If I kiss her, will she wake up? I am a prince and all...

No! I'm not going to kiss her! Am I freaking dumb? Or delusional?! Or probably both?! I didn't know what the dumb thing was- that I wanted to kiss her, or that I thought that she would wake up if I kissed her.

Something was very clearly medically wrong with her- probably the Pulmonary edema thing.

While I contemplated on other various methods to wake her (some of them were worse than the kissing idea, and I simply cannot share), I heard a knock on the door.

"Dr. Bob! Please, come in." I welcomed him. Dr. Bob used time magic, which saved his patient's life over and over again. He could cut the time it took him to reach his patients and stuff.

"You look in bad shape." He narrowed his eyes

"No, I didn't call you for uh, me. This is Ivy, my partner. She uh, fainted." I said, rubbing the back of my head.

"What magic does she use?" He asked rapidly.

I blinked, "Uhh, darkness void?" I answered but it sounded more like a question.

"So you need me to wake her up?" He questioned.

Ivy was going to hate me for this. Oh wait, she already hates me, "I need you to find out what's wrong with her."

"Symptoms?" Dr. Bob asked practically.

I recited from memory, "Cough with blood, irregular breathing, chest pain, pale skin and fainting."

He nodded, checking her. He used his stethoscope, to check her heartbeat, which was very low, and examined her eyes, nose, ears and mouth. I don't want him touching Ivy.

"I need to go to a medical facility." He told me.

"The palace?" I asked skeptically.

He nodded. I groaned, "Fine."

We reached the palace in minutes, and I felt instantly aware that I wasn't dressed like a prince. I ignored the fact, and diverted my attention to Ivy, who was being carried by Dr. Bob.

It was strange that I usually diverted my attention from her when I was at the training center, but here, at home, I diverted my attention to her.

"So where are we going? Left wing or right wing?" I asked Dr. Bob.

"Left, Princess Arabella and the little princess are still in the right wing." He replied.

We walked to the left wing medical unit without any incidence, I didn't bump into any of my brothers or parents.

"You're going to have to wait outside." Dr. Bob ordered me.

I exhaled and said, "Alright. I want to know the results as soon as possible."

I paced the corridor outside the medical unit, and waited for Dr. Bob to finish his examination.

Half an hour later, he came out of the closed double doors.

"Lucian, I need to know what exactly this girl means to you and why you got her here today." He said seriously. He had never used my last name, so I knew the situation was grave.

"She's just my partner for the training program." I told him.

He rolled his eyes at that, "Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't have feelings for her."

I met his amber-coloured eyes, and started, "I don't h-have uh- feelings f-for her. I t-think." That was so freaking pathetic!

He threw his hands up and said, "It's worse than I thought!"

"Just tell me her diagnosis!" I commanded him.

"Okay! She has stage four congestive heart failure!" He said hurriedly.

What? It felt like time had stopped and my heart had sunk. I could literally hear the sound of my heart breaking. Stage 4?! Isn't that bad?!

"Luke? Is it a bad time to tell you she only has around six more months to live?" Dr. Bob said gently.

I looked at him pleadingly, "Tell me there's a cure."

"She'll need a heart transplant." He said blatantly.

"So give her one!" I yelled.

Dr. Bob placed his hand on my shoulder and sternly, "Calm down. Keep yourself in check! You may be royalty, but you can't order me around! Hearts are rare to come across. There's a long list of people already waiting for donors."

I felt tears streaming down my face, "I can't just let her die!" I wailed into Dr. Bob's shoulder. "I'm in love with her!"
