Chapter 18
Julian POV
I'm so grief stricken, I march myself down to the cells, where that bitch is sitting in a cell.
"You bitch!" I scream.
"So we can finally be together." She coos.
"Never, even if Eva dies, I'd never be with you again!. Luckily the triplets are alive and healthy, but Eva is in a coma. All because of you!" I spit and grab a hold of her neck - tightly.
Next I feel the presence of power coming down the stairs.
"Jules, you can't kill her - Eva isn't dead."
"But she might not make it." I sob.
"Still, you can't kill Danielle - at least not yet."
"I'd rather Eva be alive than Danielle dead, but I never want to see this bitch again, Red."
"Well you have the right to banish Danielle from the territory including coming into the town of Raven."
"If that is the best that I can do, then that is what I will take."
"Danielle Drake, you are hereby banned from the Blackrose Swamp Pack territory which includes the town of Raven, Louisiana. If you are caught on pack lands, you will be killed on sight. Now leave these lands and never return. I will have no problems killing you myself!" I command and let my grip on Danielle's neck loosen.
"You'll regret this Julian Le Tourneau." Danielle vows.
"My only regret is promising to wait for my mate, and getting such a hateful human as yourself." I spit out with venom.
It has been a week that Eva has been in this coma, and it is about to drive me nuts. Luckily there are plenty of friends here at Blackrose willing to help with the triplets while Eva is recovering.
All I keep thinking about is how I just got her in my arms, and how quickly she could be gone.
Please Moon Goddess don't take my angel away from me.
All of a sudden, I hear gasping and look over to see Eva's eyes opening.
"Angel?" She looks around hazily but then over at the glass of water. I quickly take it over to her and she starts downing it.
"Slow down you might get sick. There's plenty more water around here."
"Is it time for jokes, JD?" She questions with a smile.
"Whatever it takes to make you smile."
Quickly her smile is replaced with a frown as her hand travels down to her stomach.
"The triplets..." She cries.
"They're fine and healthy."
"They're all alive?"
"Yes angel, you didn't lose a one. Would you like to meet them?" And she quickly nods.
I call Juniper and Io to bring the triplets over. The amazement on Eva's face was worth the last week.
"Of course, our daughter had to be the first to make her appearance - outdoing her brothers." I announce as I place the pink bundle containing Selena in Eva's arms.
"A head full of black hair." I say. "But your beautiful blue eyes." Eva beams. "They were all bound to have some sort of blue eyes." I tease and Eva just gives me that look.
"Next is who I call the serious one. He never seems to cry much and always seems to have a watchful eye on his siblings already." I tell her as I place the blue bundled Sebastien in his mother's arms.
"Did any of them get your white hair?" She asks me.
"Not this time. The last one always seems to gurgle and smile at everything. His eyes shine with the same blue-green shine as yours do." I proudly state as I hand the green bundled Sevrin to Eva.
"They're beautiful, JD." She beams.
"Hungry little devils too. We have had to bottle feed them since you were in a coma, and it seems the whole pack has to take turns helping me since they seem to eat all of the time. And they can't all seem to get on the same schedule either. One is awake - the other two sleep. Two are hungry - the other wants to sleep. Two want to play and the other cries. But I wouldn't trade them for the world - it will just take time to adjust to. Now that you are awake, I look forward to learning these things with you by my side."
"Do they know why I've been in a coma?"
"Your body couldn't handle the amount of power you were exerting trying to protect the children."
"That bitch!" Eva yells.
"And we don't have to worry about her any more. She has been banished from the pack lands including Raven. If she is seen, she will be killed. I won't have her take my angel away from me - not when I just got you in my arms."
"And I don't plan on going anywhere. You are the love of my life, my mate, husband and father of my children. You are stuck with me."
"And it is a place I am happy to be stuck in."
Devaney POV
"So I saw the other day." a sandy blond kid tells me.
"Saw what?" I ask, not sure what he means.
"The liquids gravitate from the cups when you got upset." He replies.
"And?" I say with pursed lips, and he grins.
"You're a water mage like me - aren't you?" He asks hopefully.
"A water what?"
"Don't you know anything about your family?" He says with a raised eyebrow, and I shake my head.
"No, I was orphaned around the age of 3. Mom and dad adopted me about six months later. I was part of a pack, so we all figured I was a werewolf." I murmur.
"My bet is that someone in your family was a water mage."
"What is a water mage?" my curiosity is now peaked.
"We are elemental witches that can control water without spells. That is the simplest way I can explain it."
"Cool. Can you show me something?" I ask, a bit excited.
"I'm Zale by the way."
"Devaney."
"Interesting name."
"I guess. Since I was the only survivor no one was around to tell them my name. The people that took care of the orphans named me Devaney because it supposedly means dark-haired in Irish. When I was younger my hair was a much darker shade of brown."
"Oh. I like the name. It's unique - like we are." He states with a huge grin.
"Did you just move here?" I question.
"Yeah . I moved here with my parents. I don't have full control of my powers so my parents moved to Blackrose in the hopes that I would make friends easier."
"Didn't you have friends where you came from?"
"Very few. It was a community of witches and mages, but very few water mages. My lack of good control over my powers caused more than a few problems at my last school. Making drinks spill everywhere when I was mad wasn't one of the teacher's favorite problems to deal with. Changing the spray of the water in the gym locker room caused more than one fight for me. I found it funny, but some of the other kids didn't. Another favorite trick of the teachers."
"You're just a trouble maker." I giggle, and he grins sheepishly.
"Nah, I just don't like bullies and snobs."
"I think we are going to be great friends." I say with a broad smile.
"So do I."
"Can you show me what you can do - being a water mage?" I ask curious as to what I could possibly do on my own.
"The simplest is learning how to control water movement. Most everything mages do takes concentration and practice. Water can be moved in any direction that you'd like it to go. It can be formed into different shapes like circles or animals. You can eventually learn how to manipulate water within inanimate objects and possibly learn how to heat and cool the water to create rather dangerous weapons, if need be. I am having a hard time controlling water temperature."
"Can we start learning today?" bouncing up and down like a kid at Christmas.
"Sure."
We spend the rest of the afternoon practicing how to control water movement. To say I was excited wasn't a strong enough word to explain my new found abilities. My parents are going to be surprised when I show them what I've learned.
Eva POV
The last few months have been crazy. Julian is the definition of loving father and husband, but having five around the house is starting to wear on us. Julian had to return to Beta duties, while I have a few more months off before I get back to work full-time. We are going to see if Logan and Cesar can help with the triplets and see what duties can be done from home.
Even though I am excited that Devaney is learning more about her abilities, she spends most of her time after school with Zale practicing. With Julian at work and Zoey running around, my patience is running thin lately, so Julian suggested we call his dad and try and get part of a day off.
"Hello Oliver." I greet my father-in-law with a big hug before one of the triplets starts crying.
"Keeping you busy - I see." He grins. "Where's Dev?"
"Out back with Zale. You should go say hi and see what new tricks she's learning lately."
"That would be great. I'm so happy that she's learning more about her abilities and someone is willing to take the time to work with her. Her and Zale seem awful close." He comments.
"I know what you're thinking, but I just haven't seen any signs. Zale doesn't seem like he overly wants to impress her or doesn't want to be away from her. I just think they found a friend in each other that can understand them. Dev's excitement is infectious, and I don't think Zale had too many friends in the last place he lived."
"That's great. I'll go see what she's up to..."
"Papy!" We hear, and the sound of little feet running down the stairs. Soon enough a little bundle of energy comes crashing into Oliver's open arms.
"Hello princess, what have you been doing?"
"I was feeding Goldie and playing with my dolls." And with this she bounces into lively conversation until another one of the triplets starts crying.
Oliver sets Zoey down and goes into the nursery to pick up a restless Sebastien.
"Are you sure you can handle them?" I ask nervously.
"You have everything I could need for you being gone for a few hours, and I'm sure Dev would help out if things got too rowdy."
"Let's get everything set up while we wait for Julian to get home."
