Rosalia’s heart raced as she paced the small apartment, glancing at her phone for what felt like the hundredth time. Jimin had been gone for days, and the silence was deafening. She had tried to convince herself that it was all part of his mysterious work, that he was busy and couldn’t text, but doubt had begun to creep in.
Just as she was about to pick up her phone to text him one more time, it rang. The sight of Jin’s name on the screen sent a jolt of panic through her. She answered quickly, trying to keep her voice steady. “Jin? Where’s Jimin?”
“Rosalia, you need to come to the hospital. It’s urgent,” Jin said, his voice strained.
The world around her seemed to tilt as dread settled in the pit of her stomach. “What happened? Is he okay?”
There was a long pause, and her heart pounded in her chest, each beat a reminder of how much she cared for him. “He got hurt on a mission. You need to hurry.”
The phone slipped from her hand, crashing onto the floor, but she didn’t care. Panic surged through her veins as she grabbed her coat and rushed out of the apartment. Her mind was racing, thoughts spiraling into worst-case scenarios as she hailed a cab, her hands trembling as she tried to hold it together.
When she arrived at the hospital, the sterile scent of antiseptic hit her like a wave. She rushed to the reception desk, breathless. “Where’s Jimin Park? I need to see him!”
“Calm down, miss,” the nurse said, trying to keep her voice soothing. “Can you give me a moment?”
“Please!” Rosalia begged, desperation seeping into her tone. “He was just brought in. I’m his—” She faltered, realizing she had no title. They hadn’t defined their relationship yet, but she couldn’t let that stop her. “I’m close to him. I need to know he’s okay.”
The nurse glanced at her name tag and typed something into the computer. “Room 204. But please, keep your voice down.”
Rosalia didn’t wait for another word. She darted down the hallway, her heart pounding as she reached the door to Jimin’s room. She hesitated for just a moment, fear clawing at her insides before she pushed it open.
Inside, Jimin lay on the hospital bed, his face pale and bruised, bandages wrapped around his arm. Her heart sank at the sight of him, unconscious and vulnerable. Tears streamed down her face as she rushed to his side, taking his hand in hers, willing him to wake up.
“Jimin, please,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “You need to wake up. I’m here.”
Footsteps echoed in the hallway, and she turned to see Jin, Namjoon, and the others enter, their expressions grave.
“Rosalia,” Jin said softly, stepping closer. “I’m so sorry. We didn’t want you to find out like this.”
“What happened?” she demanded, her eyes darting between the boys as her emotions surged. “What went wrong? Why didn’t you call me sooner?”
Namjoon exchanged a hesitant glance with Jin before speaking up. “The mission… it took a turn. We were ambushed. Jimin got hurt trying to protect us.”
“No,” she whispered, her heart racing as the weight of his words settled in. “How bad is it?”
“He’s stable, but he took some hits,” Jin said, his voice steady. “The doctors are patching him up now. They said he should wake up soon.”
“But what if he doesn’t?” Rosalia said, her voice trembling as she gripped Jimin’s hand tighter. “What if… what if he doesn’t make it?”
“Rosalia, don’t say that,” Jungkook said, his voice firm as he stepped forward. “He’s strong. He’ll pull through.”
She shook her head, tears blurring her vision. “He’s always been strong. But what if this time it’s different?”
A comforting hand landed on her shoulder, and she turned to see Ariana standing beside her. “He’s going to be okay,” she assured her gently. “The doctors know what they’re doing.”
But Rosalia felt like she was drowning in fear. The thought of losing Jimin was unbearable, and the reality of what he did for a living clawed at her insides. This was the risk he took every day, and she had only ever scratched the surface of that reality.
“What if he wakes up and doesn’t want to see me?” she said, her voice breaking. “What if he regrets everything? I don’t want him to think he was just a crush to me.”
“Stop that,” Valentina interjected, her voice filled with warmth. “You’re not just a crush to him. You mean so much more.”
The boys nodded in agreement, their expressions softening as they witnessed her pain. But Rosalia couldn’t shake the feeling of helplessness.
“Can I see him?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jin nodded. “Just be careful. He’s been through a lot.”
With shaky legs, Rosalia stepped closer to Jimin’s bedside, brushing his hair back from his forehead. “Please, Jimin. Please come back to me. I need you,” she whispered, her heart aching at the thought of him being so close yet so far away.
Minutes turned into what felt like hours as she sat by his side, the world outside fading away. She held his hand tightly, feeling the warmth of his skin beneath her fingertips. She closed her eyes, praying for him to wake up, to tell her everything would be okay.
Finally, she heard a faint groan, and her eyes snapped open. Jimin’s eyelids fluttered, and she felt her heart leap. “Jimin?” she said, her voice trembling with hope.
His eyes slowly opened, squinting against the bright lights of the hospital room. “Rosa…?” he mumbled, his voice hoarse.
“Yes! I’m here!” she exclaimed, tears spilling down her cheeks as relief flooded through her. “I’m here, Jimin.”
He blinked a few times, as if trying to process her presence. “What… happened?”
“You were hurt on a mission,” she explained gently, squeezing his hand. “You’re in the hospital, but you’re going to be okay. Just focus on me.”
Jimin’s gaze flickered to the boys, then back to her. “Did you… did you worry?”
“Of course, I worried!” she cried, her emotions spilling over. “You scared me, Jimin. I thought I was going to lose you!”
His brow furrowed in confusion, and he tried to sit up, but pain shot through him. “Easy, easy,” she urged, gently pushing him back down. “Just take it slow.”
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, guilt lining his features. “I didn’t mean to worry you. I thought I could handle it.”
“You can’t keep doing this,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion. “I don’t want to feel like I’m losing you every time you go away. I can’t bear it.”
“I know,” he murmured, his expression softening as he met her gaze. “I promise I’ll try to do better.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she nodded. “You have to. I can’t lose you, Jimin. You mean too much to me.”
“I know,” he replied, his voice filled with sincerity. “You’re the one reason I keep fighting, even in the darkest moments. I can’t let you go.”
Rosalia’s heart swelled with emotion, but she couldn’t ignore the pain etched on his face. “You need to heal, Jimin. Please promise me you’ll take care of yourself.”
He nodded slowly, a flicker of determination lighting his eyes. “I promise.”
As they held each other’s gaze, the noise of the hospital faded into the background, leaving only the connection they shared—a bond that had been forged through chaos and uncertainty. In that moment, Rosalia knew that no matter the dangers ahead, they would face them together, side by side.
And as the boys stood by, witnessing the love that blossomed in the face of adversity, they felt a renewed sense of hope. No matter what the world threw their way, Jimin and Rosalia would navigate it together, fueled by their unwavering connection and the promise of a brighter future.
