Epilogue
The New Year arrived with the promise of fresh beginnings, and Jin awoke on January 1st to the soft sound of Jiwoon’s giggles echoing through the house. The warmth of the morning sun streamed through the curtains, casting a golden hue across the living room where the family had spent the night before, ushering in the new year with laughter, love, and cherished moments.
Jin stretched, feeling the satisfaction of having spent another year with Mia and Jiwoon. He smiled at the memories they had created together during the past year—the Christmas party filled with friends and laughter, the quiet moments snuggled together on the couch, and the passionate nights that solidified their bond. With a grateful heart, he got out of bed, ready to embrace whatever the day would bring.
As he made his way down the hallway, he heard Jiwoon’s little feet padding across the floor. The sound of his son’s laughter filled him with warmth, and he couldn’t help but chuckle as he entered the living room.
“Happy New Year, Daddy!” Jiwoon exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He was dressed in his favorite dinosaur pajamas, a huge smile plastered on his face.
“Happy New Year, buddy!” Jin replied, kneeling down to pull Jiwoon into a tight hug. “What are you up to?”
“I’m playing with my toys! Look!” Jiwoon pointed excitedly to the scattered toys on the living room floor, where dinosaurs and action figures were lined up as if preparing for an epic battle.
“That looks like a lot of fun,” Jin said, ruffling Jiwoon’s hair. “But first, let’s go find Mommy and make some breakfast. What do you say?”
“Yay! Pancakes!” Jiwoon shouted, jumping up and down in delight.
Jin laughed as he took Jiwoon’s hand, leading him into the kitchen. The delightful aroma of coffee filled the air, and Jin’s heart swelled as he saw Mia standing at the stove, a smile gracing her beautiful face. She wore a cozy sweater, her hair slightly tousled from sleep, and her focus was entirely on the pancakes sizzling in the skillet.
“Good morning, sleepyheads!” Mia greeted them cheerfully, turning to face Jin and Jiwoon. “I hope you’re ready for some delicious pancakes!”
“Mommy, can I help?” Jiwoon asked, his little hands waving in excitement.
“Of course! You can help me flip them once they’re ready,” Mia replied, her eyes twinkling with joy as she handed Jiwoon a spatula.
Jin watched as Mia knelt down to Jiwoon’s level, guiding him on how to flip the pancakes. The sight warmed his heart, reminding him of how far they had come as a family. With each passing day, he was falling deeper in love with Mia, and watching her nurture Jiwoon filled him with a sense of pride and gratitude.
Once breakfast was ready, they settled around the dining table, laughter and chatter filling the air. Jin couldn’t help but marvel at how blessed he was to have Mia and Jiwoon in his life.
“Let’s make a toast!” Jin said, raising his glass of orange juice. “To new beginnings, family, and endless love.”
“Cheers!” Jiwoon exclaimed, clinking his juice with Jin’s.
“Cheers!” Mia echoed, her heart full as she gazed at the two most important people in her life.
After breakfast, they decided to spend the day enjoying each other’s company. They put on their jackets and headed outside, the crisp winter air invigorating. Snow blanketed the ground, transforming their neighborhood into a winter wonderland.
“Can we build a snowman?” Jiwoon asked, his cheeks rosy from the cold.
“Absolutely!” Jin replied, already feeling the excitement bubbling within him.
They rolled large snowballs together, stacking them one on top of the other. Jiwoon giggled with delight as they added twigs for arms and a carrot for the snowman’s nose.
“Look, Daddy! He looks just like us!” Jiwoon shouted, stepping back to admire their handiwork.
“He does! He’s a handsome snowman,” Jin agreed, playfully putting his arm around Jiwoon. “We should name him… Frosty!”
“Frosty the Snowman!” Jiwoon cheered, his laughter ringing out across the yard.
Mia took a moment to watch her boys, her heart swelling with love. They were creating memories that would last a lifetime, and she felt an overwhelming sense of happiness.
After their snowman was completed, they headed inside to warm up. Jin made hot chocolate while Mia prepared a light lunch. The familiar sounds of their home—laughter, the clinking of dishes, and the aroma of comfort food—wrapped around them like a warm hug.
As they sat together at the dining table, sipping their hot chocolate and enjoying lunch, Mia looked at Jin. “Have you thought about what you want to accomplish this year?” she asked, genuinely curious.
“I have, actually,” Jin replied, taking a sip of his drink. “I want to focus on being present, both at work and at home. I want to make sure Jiwoon knows he’s loved and supported.”
Mia nodded in agreement, her heart full. “That sounds wonderful. I want to do the same. And maybe work on my baking skills! I’ve been wanting to try out new recipes.”
“Your baking is already amazing!” Jin encouraged, a playful smile on his lips. “But I’d love to taste all the new treats you create.”
“Deal! And how about we plan a family trip this year?” Mia suggested. “Somewhere we can all have fun together, maybe the beach?”
“Now that sounds perfect,” Jin replied, his excitement matching hers. “We can plan it as a summer getaway!”
After lunch, they settled onto the couch for a family movie marathon. They wrapped themselves in blankets, Jiwoon nestled comfortably between Jin and Mia as they enjoyed the warmth of each other’s company.
As the credits rolled on the third movie, Jiwoon yawned, rubbing his eyes. “I’m sleepy,” he murmured, snuggling closer to Mia.
“Let’s get you to bed, buddy,” Jin said gently, placing a hand on Jiwoon’s back. “You had a big day.”
“Can you read me a story?” Jiwoon asked, his eyelids heavy.
“Of course,” Jin replied, lifting Jiwoon into his arms. He carried him to his room while Mia followed closely behind.
Once they settled into Jiwoon’s bed, Jin read a story aloud, his voice soothing and warm. Jiwoon listened intently, his little body relaxing as he succumbed to sleep. As Jin finished the story, he looked down at Jiwoon, his heart full.
“Mia,” he whispered, turning to her. “I can’t believe how lucky we are.”
“I know,” she replied softly, her eyes glistening. “Every day feels like a dream with you and Jiwoon.”
Once Jiwoon was sound asleep, Jin and Mia tiptoed out of his room, closing the door quietly behind them.
“Do you want to watch another movie?” Jin asked, glancing at Mia.
“Actually, I was thinking we could spend some time together alone,” she said with a playful smile, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
“Now you’re talking,” Jin replied, his heart racing with excitement.
They made their way to the living room, the lights dimmed, creating a cozy atmosphere. Jin pulled Mia close, his hands resting on her waist as he gazed into her eyes.
“I’ve been thinking about you all day,” he confessed, leaning in to capture her lips in a tender kiss.
Mia melted against him, her heart fluttering. “Me too. I love being with you, especially when it’s just the two of us.”
“Let’s make this our time to reconnect,” Jin said softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “After everything we’ve been through, I want to remind you how much I love you.”
“I love you too, Jin,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
Jin pulled her closer, their kisses deepening with every moment. Time melted away as they reveled in each other’s warmth, forgetting the world outside.
As the day faded into evening, they found themselves lost in each other, the laughter of Jiwoon lingering in the background—a reminder of the family they had built together.

Months passed, and as spring approached, Mia and Jin continued to thrive in their love and family life. They embraced the changing seasons, hosting gatherings, going on adventures, and nurturing their relationship.
One sunny afternoon, they decided to take a trip to the local park. Jiwoon raced ahead, giggling as he ran toward the swings. Jin and Mia watched him with joyful smiles, their hearts full of pride.
“Look at him go,” Jin said, his voice warm with affection. “He’s growing so fast.”
“He really is,” Mia replied, her gaze following Jiwoon. “I can’t believe he’s almost four already.”
“Time flies,” Jin said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “But I wouldn’t trade a single moment.”
As they joined Jiwoon at the swings, the laughter and happiness of that day echoed in their hearts.
