~Chapter 9~

Y/N P.O.V

"Y/N, who left these marks?"

My eyes went wide as my body froze in place. It felt like my soul had left my body. He wasn't meant to notice. I immediately knew which marks my prince was talking about. There must have been bruises on my neck from the Demon King. His grip on my neck was awfully tight. My hand subconsciously traced circles on my neck, remembering the horrible feeling of not being able to breath.  "Y/N," my prince called out my name again, sending tingles down my spine. His voice had a soft rasp as he said my name with such care.

His hand gently cupped my cheek. His dark eyes radiated a violet glow as his anger became evident. Zeldris stopped as he stared at my neck. Prior, Zeldris had removed some of my armor to see the bruises. Did he really pay that much attention?......or he could have just been channeling his older brother and stumbled upon the bruises?....

"Y/N look at me," instinctively, I looked into the prince's eyes. "I-I was only training. The magic enemies malfunctioned. Everything is alright," I smiled nervously, placing my hand against the one Zeldris had against my cheek. "That's a lie. You promised you wouldn't hide anything from me...those marks weren't there the last time I saw you. Where did you go? You have to listen to me as your prince, right? Then answer me...please," he started with a harsh voice, but his voice gradually broke.

The Demon King would kill me if I told Zeldris his father threatened me. If the Demon King found out, he would turn me into a mindless puppet. I can't be the prince's friend if that happens! I don't want him to be lonely again. If Zeldris retaliated against his father, he would only get in trouble. I don't want that....Yet, I am obligated to tell him whatever he asks me. Whatever the prince tells me to do, I am to follow. You must forgive me, my prince. This is the one time I have to lie to you.

"I'm afraid that's information I'm not allowed to tell you My Lord. In due time, I will be able to explain," I spoke with a smile. No matter how much I smiled, the prince wouldn't calm down. "Why can't you tell me who hurt you?!" Zeldris groaned in frustration. He let out a long sigh as he rested his forehead on mine. His body was hot as his arms wrapped around my waist and the back of my neck. "All you have to do is say a name and I'll handle everything else," Zeldris' hot breath trailed down my back. His hands held me so tightly. I felt safe from everything. All I wanted was to wrap my arms around him, but I knew I couldn't. I placed my hand on his chest and pushed him away.

"I think you're forgetting who the guard is here~ It's my job to protect you, not the other way around," I purred with a smirk. I couldn't hold in my laugh. Soon I burst out laughing until my eyes watered. What was funny? I had no idea. Yet, somehow, I was laughing like I just saw a pizza grow legs and do a dance. I closed my eyes to wipe away my tears of laughter. As I opened my eyes, I met emerald green eyes. My body felt paralyzed as Zeldris leaned in, burying his head into my neck. My face erupted into a serious blush. I was the equivalent of a tomato. "M-my prince! This isn't appropriate behavior. I'm your guard for goddess sa-"

"Enough,"

Zeldris mumbled. He removed his head from the crook of my neck to look at me. "I'll do as I please. I'm your prince after all, aren't I?" Curse his stupid smirk. As much as I hated to admit it- that was hot. Zeldris leaned back down, planting soft kisses against the bruises on my neck. I felt shivers cover my entire body. His lips were so soft against my skin. "I don't understand why you can't tell me, but I'll trust you," Zeldris mumbled. He looked into my eyes with his beautiful emerald ones. "I couldn't see you for weeks...it was painful,"

I couldn't form a response. My brain was mush. Was it wrong to say that I wanted his lips back on my neck? I opened my mouth to form a reply, but no words came out. Why couldn't I say anything?! "No words? That's unusual," Zeldris smirked. Curse him! He was doing this on purpose! I couldn't handle it and covered my face with my hands. A fearless guard that broke at the slightest amount of affection. Who would've guessed?

Soft yet sturdy hands pulled my wrists away from my face. Zeldris pushed a strand of hair behind my ear as he kissed my neck again, but this time he stayed in a singular space, gently sucking on the skin. This man was out to kill me. A feeling I'd never had before washed over me. Zeldris hummed softly, sending vibrations over my neck. I bit my lip and closed my eyes, feeling incredibly flustered. A soft zap pricked the back of my neck, but it was hardly noticeable over my no longer functioning brain. Zeldris smiled as he held my hands in his. "There's an even better bruise for you~"

It was safe to say Zeldris was touch-starved over the time you were in a coma. Today was the day he made up for it. He knew the consequences for such bold actions, but he loved her too much too care.

A dove flew over the rooftops, dropping a message as it flew past us. Desperate for something to take my mind off of this, I grabbed the note and read it quickly. As I read the note, my flustered-ness went away but my sore neck did not. I was left baffled by what I read. He actually messaged us after months of silence.

Waterfall at midnight! Don't be late! ;3
