Libra (f) & Leo (m) - 7 Minutes of Wondering
7 Minutes of Wondering
Leo's POV
My beach blonde hair whipped in front of my face for the 100th time. And for the 100th time I blew it back to where it was supposed to be.
I walked up to my high school. This place had been my school for 3 full years and I finally managed to make it through. This year was going to be the last, but best, year ever.
"Leo!" I spun around at the sound of my name.
Aries was jogging to get a side next to me as we entered the gigantic building.
"Hey Aries! You excited?"
"What?! No! This is school! It's boring and it totally took away all of my plans from last summer."
"And what were those, exactly?"
"Not to go to school..."
I threw my head back into a laugh, then constricting it down to a chuckle. Hey, you can't be your total self if you want to keep a good reputation.
As I looked around the hallways, alot of people have changed. Aquarius, who used to be this all-black-wearing girl with nose and lip piercings, now still had dark hair, but it was a little more natural than last year. She had taken the piercings out except for the 2 pairs of dangle earrings. Her dark attire was switched for a light blue sundress. I nudged Aries in the shoulder, although he was already staring.
"Aries, shut your mouth or bugs will fly in."
"Huh? What?" He said as he snapped out of his trance.
"Dude! Just ask her out! It can't be that bad."
"No!"
"Why not? She's cute, healthy, not goth, and you have a huge thing for her. Just try."
"Ugh. If I do, will you get off my back?"
"Yes!"
"Fine..."
As he walked away he mumbled something inaudible, but I'm pretty sure I heard "jerk" somewhere in there.
They started to chat, then Aries turned around and gave the thumbs up. That was my cue to walk as fast as I could in the other direction.
I pivoted on my heel and took one step forward, but then placed it back.
She had arrived.
Libra.
Her light brown hair caught the sunlight just to make her hair shine. Her mid thigh floral print dress showed off her peachy, healthy legs as they walk through the corridor. Her natural makeup showed her dark blue orbs, while her smile sparkled. White wedges pulled her up to my height, but they weren't that tall.
We had been going to school together forever, becoming close, then drifting apart, then to just sitting at the same lunch table. Although elementary school, I've had a crush on her, which only grew stronger and more real as time passes.
She had been talking to her friends as I soaked in this sight, but then looked up at me and smiled. Libra excused herself and made her way towards me.
Libra's POV
My wedges clicked at the tile as I made my way towards the man of my dreams. He was attractive, funny, sweet, kind, caring..the list goes on. I wanted to date him this year, or at least confess. That was my plan anyway. But things don't always go as planned.
I smiled before I greeted him.
Leo's POV
God, that smile.
Libra's POV
"Happy First Day Leo!"
He chuckled, which made my heart jump into my throat even more. It was deep but genuine, and it made butterflies in my stomach. I was trying to be enthusiastic, but I thought my legs would give out.
"Hey, Libra."
"How was your summer?" I started a conversation with him as we walked down the hallways.
"Pretty good, actually. I went to Mount Rushmore, which was interesting. I really like how the light really showed off Lincoln's beard."
I laughed. Did I mention he had a great sense of humor?
"Really? Because I always thought the angle fit just right with George Washington's nose."
We both shared a laugh when I realized we were walking in the same direction.
"Leo?"
"Hmm?"
"What's your first period?"
"Oh! Uh," he looked at his schedule,"AP Physics, with Mrs. Amber, you?"
I looked down and saw the same thing.
"Me too." I blushed at the thought. I kept staring at my schedule to try to hide it. It faded for a while but it eventually came back when I realized that we had EVERY. FREAKING. CLASS together. This is going to be a long year. I mean, I have to tell him sometime, right?
------------- Skip to Lunch --------------
Still Libra's POV
Our cafeteria was packed full of long wooden tables, that just happened to seat 12 people, which was exactly how big my squad was. Although we NEVER ate in the cafeteria. We always ate in the library, where we could actually heat each other speak. Our librarian was never there because she ate lunch at home with her family, but she said it was fine as long as we continue clean up afterwards, which we do.
I set my tray down at our usual spot. No one was here yet so I just decided to wait. Then some one sat next to me and when I turned around I saw a face I didn't recognize.
"Hi?"
"Hey, could I sit here?"
"Um, sure, but not there specifically, but I'll grab you a chair."
"Actually I won't be staying long, I just wanted to talk to you."
"Oh. OK, then. May I ask your name? I've never seen you around here before."
"Zach. Zach Mitchell. I'm new."
"Well, nice to meet you Zach!"
"You too. You know, your really pretty." With that he put his arm around me.
"Oh uh, thanks, um, I try." I blushed heavily.
"You don't try, you succeed." His hand then started rubbing circles into my upper back.
"Um, that's really nice of you, but, what are you doing?"
"I don't know what your talking about." I felt something slowly descend.
"I think I would appreciate it if you wouldn't do that." I turned my head and smelled alcohol on his breath.
"Do what?" His hand was now at my lower back, but it didn't stop. That was enough.
Before it could get any lower, I reached behind my back and pried his hand off my body. I held it as I kicked him to the ground and kept my foot on his neck as I held his arm up in the air.
"Help!" I shouted to the door. Then I turned back to him and saw he was a little more mature. " How old are you?"
"22."
"Ew! Who do you think you are?"
"Don't talk to me like that." He growled. He picked my leg and flipped me over on my back and pinned me down. Until something heavy knocked him over.
Leo's POV
"Help!"
I whipped my head around from where I was standing in the lunch line. It was coming from the library. I excused my self from my current conversation and started to walk towards the voice. As I got closer, I heard a muffled voice. It sounded like Libra. Was she in trouble? At the thought, I picked up my pace to a jog. Then I heard a thud. I ran to the door and looked through the window.
Libra was pinned down to the carpet by a 20 something year old man looking at her greedily. She was resisting as best she could, but she was stuck.
I burst through the doors and tackled him to the ground. I rolled us to where I was pining him down and started to use his face as a punching bag. Soon he was yelping and screaming apologies and that when I released a little bit of pressure, to which he took to get up and run away.
"Coward." I mumbled
When I looked around, I saw Libra with tears in her eyes. I briskly walked to her and embraced her in a hug, and we stayed like that for a while. When we let go, I held her face in my hands and wipe a few stray tears from her cheeks.
"Libra, look at me."
With reluctance, she met my eyes.
"Your okay. No one will ever hurt you while I'm around. OK?"
A nod.
"Just sit down, and everyone will be back soon."
She sat back down and stared at her food. I made my way it the library doors to get back in the lunch line, when I heard a faint, "Leo?"
I turned. "Yeah?"
"Don't-" She sighed, "Thank you."
"Of course."
With that I walked out.
Libra's POV
Leo put his hand on my cheek and wiped my tears with his thumb. I leaned into his hand slightly, but then stopped, hoping he didn't notice it.
He reluctantly got up and walk towards the doors.
Wait! Don't go! I love you!, I wanted to scream, because after this, I really do.
I tried to stop him. But, I couldn't.
"Dont-", It's no use, he just one of your best friends. I sigh. "Thank you."
Don't go.
"Of course."
I smile a sad smile and a shiver goes down my spine. I really don't want to be alone right now.
I open the doors and see Leo still making his way to the cafeteria.
"Leo! Wait!" I call.
His head turned and he stopped walking as soon as he saw me.
"Are you OK?"
"Yeah, no, I'm fine. I just don't think I thanked you properly for what just happened."
"It was really Ok. You were in trouble, what else would I have done?"
I shrugged.
"Nothing. Nothing would've changed."
"Really?"
"Absolutely!"
We chuckled. As we made our way to the lunch line our friends were already making their way to the library. I asked Leo to keep the situation to himself, and he understood.
Leo's POV
Our friend Gemini was having a party. Her blonde hair was in a bun and it bounced up and down as she excitedly talked about our little back to school get together. We all agreed to get to her house tonight as the school bell rang.
---------------- Skip to Party ---------------
I knocked on Gems door. She opened it, and looked me up and down. I was in nice dark blue jeans, a white v-neck with a dark brown beanie and converse.
"Nice." She stated as she nodded in approval, which was very rare. She had let her blonde hair down and curled it. She wore a flowy tank top, with a woven shoulder cover, worn skinny jeans, and high heel tan boots.
"As do you." I smiled. We were best friends before we were born, thanks to our parents, but I only met Libra a couple years later, thanks to our parents.
"Your the first one actually, so, uh, make yourself at home! There are chips on the counter, and sodas in the cooler."
We sat down and chatted, catching up with each other about our lives. When we heard the doorbell ring.
She raced to the door and opened it, revealing Aries, in a plaid flannel and jeans with a dark under shirt, and Aquarius, in a tight tank, Jean jacket, and a floral skirt.
Then Cancer and Capricorn showed, hand in hand. Cap was in his Texan style get up, with his button down shirt tucked into his jeans with a brown belt around the waist. Cancer was in shorts, long sleeve crop top, and brown sandals, her strawberry blonde hair tied into a side pony tail.
Virgo was dropped off in his khaki shorts and a long sleeve navy shirt, his glasses up high on his nose. After Virgo came Pisces, in a long, turquoise jumper with her dark purple hair in a messy top bun. She was always the artist of our group.
Scorpio barged in without knocking, his leather jacket and black tee covering his torso. He raised his sunglasses and popped his gum, giving us fist bumps and high fives. Then Saggitarius walked in with a purple tee and boot cut jeans, paired with black converse and a black beanie. She raised her sunglasses and got the last high five.
Taurus wasn't far behind, with basketball shorts and muscle shirt, explaining how he JUST got out of basket ball practice.
After Taurus shut the door, it started to rain. Thunder boomed from the skies and lighting lit up the clouds. Libra is going to get soaked.
We waited a couple of minutes when we heard the door SLAM! in the entry way.
We all ran to see what the corruption and found Libra sitting on the floor with her back against the door, laughing. Her white v-neck under and olive green flannel and skinny jeans, and she was...barefoot?
"M-my shoes got stuck i-in the mud!" She explained between chuckles, "Oh well!" Then she burst out laughing again. Which was music to my ears.
I chuckled and helped her up, which she gladly took. Her bouncy, wavy hair jolted in front of her face, which she he waved out so I could see her blue eyes. I could get lost in those all day.
---------- Later in Party ----------
We all chuckled at Caps joke when Gem shouted, "MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION!"
We all froze and looked over at her.
She cleared her throat, "Thank you. Now someone", she said eyeing Scorpio,"suggested 7 minutes in heaven. And I think we should go through with it."
Uh oh.
Libra's POV
"Ok girls! Draw a name" said Virgo who was gonna stay behind with Pisces to time. He held out Leo's beanie which had pieces of paper in it.
I dug around the bag, chanting in my head, Not Leo, Not Leo.
Who did I get?
Leo.
I blushed heavily, all ready knowing my fate. I would try to, but before I would be able to do anything, he would be going on about how he actually wanted to be in a room with Saggi.
"Ladies please take a seat next to your gentlemen."
As everyone got up and moved around, I found a spot next to Leo and sat down. Out of the corner of my eye I saw his eyes go wide. I knew it.
"Off to your rooms!" Pisces shooed us away.
Aries went with Aquarius, Cancer with Cap, Taurus with Saggi, Gem with Scorpio, and I with Leo.
We made it into the rooms, and all the doors were shut.
. . .
3 minutes have gone by and we sat there in a awkward silence, neither of us wanting to speak. Until Leo decided to break it.
"Look, Libra,"
Here we go!, my voice rang through my head as I looked at him, be prepared for the regection.
"I know this might bot be the right place to say it, but I, uh, I've had a, uh, crush on you for some time now and..."
I zoned the rest out. The moment I heard that I was wrong I rushed over to him and wrapped my arms around his neck, really hugging him like I've always wanted to.
I pulled away a bit to see his green eyes wide in surprise, and I smiled.
"I like you too." I stated sweetly.
He smiled and leaned down. His thin lips grazed my full ones and I stood on my tippy toes to complete the gap.
Leo's and Libra's POV
You are my future, I thought happily.
