Seaside Romance

Gemini POV

"Libra, why did you yank me up here?"

"Oh come on Gem! It will be fun! Swim, eat ice cream, ya know, normal things that people do at the beach."

"Yeah, but I will be doing all that alone. Your just up here to see Leo at his new lifeguard job."

"Are not!"

"Are too!"

Libras hands readjusted on the steering wheel, "Look, you just came back to Dallas. I haven't seen you since high school! Florida will be the best way to re-unite. And yes, Leo is there, but he will be happy to see you to!"

I shook my head and chuckled, "I knew we shouldn't have played 7 minutes in heaven."

I heard a laugh from the other side, "Your just jealous 'cause you haven't met anyone since Scorpio."

"Not true! Jealousy isn't even in my vocabulary."

"Right," Libra replied sarcastically, "does the name Victor Jones ring a bell?"

My head whipped around from its position at the window, "SHUT UP!"

Libra laughed, and soon, so did I. It felt nice, being able to talk to her in person. I mean sure, we skyped all the time, but this is one of the few rare chances that we can physically see each other with our own two eyes. It was if I never left. I couldn't see her for two years at a time, and still, it would feel like we never had a break in our conversation.

When I had told her over the computer that I was driving down to Dallas from Houston for the summer, she went haywire. Libra started babbling about all these great, amazing things we could do when we arrived, and I was willing to do each and every one of them. But one thing that she forgot to mention was the beach. The outdoors wasn't really my forte, and once Libra mentioned Leo, I knew the real purpose of this trip. I really didn't feel like being ditched when they went and made out behind a palm tree. Didn't sound like fun. But, Libra was persistent. So, here I was, talking about past boyfriends in a car full of pretzels and soda pop.

Soon, the beach came into view, but we didn't stop.

"Lib, I though we were going to the beach?"

"For the weekend."

"Excuse me? I don't get it."

"It's not like we're gonna camp the whole time. I rented us a cabin."

"You did not."

She just nodded.

"You. Did. NOT."

Libra smirked, "I knew you'd be excited."

I smiled while still making a surprised face. My bright blue eyes shine against my slightly pale skin. My blonde hair was pulled into a perky pony tail, showing off my natural makeup. I was wearing a loose, light blue top and white jean shorts over my fit legs. Tan woven sandals wrapped around my feet as they bounced in excitement.

Lib turned to me and smiled her signature smile, her dirty blonde wavy hair whipping in the wind. She had a purple v-neck with patterned shorty shorts, and black flip flops that show off her manicured toes. Her blue/green eyes stayed on the main road, eyelashes laced with mascara as natural lipgloss shimmered on her lips.

We twisted and swerved on the concrete street until a tasteful condo came into view. A few actually. A line of cream white buildings along a sand covered road sat in front of me as Libra parked and got out of the car.

She snapped her fingers in my face as I gawked in astonishment.

"You'll be more appreciative about what's inside." Libra hinted with a wink.

I gave her a look of confusion as I stepped out of the vehicle. She just laughed at my wondering, again. She would drop little hints that I wouldn't understand, I would furrow my brows, and then she would chuckle at her own secret. It was annoying at first, but then it just grew into our thing. I slowly walked out of the car, following behind her as she put the key in the lock.

Aries POV

I sat down on the brown leather couch, enjoying the morning on the beach. This condo that Leo had rented was actually kind of nice, big enough for the three of us, maybe even four. I knew that my job wouldn't start till tomorrow, so I decided to rest until Leo's girlfriend showed. I haven't met her, but from what I hear, she's kinda awesome.

I hear a groan from the left most bedroom and smirked. Here comes Leo.

"Morning sleepy head!" I faked enthusiasm. Leo stalked out of the room, a t-shirt and plaid pajama pants covering his body.

"Don't talk to me." He stated blankly. I threw my head back and laughed.

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, huh?"

"What did I just say?" Then came the death stare.

I chuckled again, "Come on dude, you can't be grumpy today."

"And why's that, exactly?"

I gave him a really? look, and he just started back at me, confused.

"You seriously don't remember?"

Leo shook his head in response.

Well, this will be fun. I thought on my head.

"Oh, nothing, I think I got the date wrong." I lied.

"Dude, seriously, what is it?" Leo pressed.

"Nothing," I assured him "I just got the date wrong."

Leo looked at me skeptically, but gave up after a few more tries. We turned our attention back to the T.V. while I laughed at him on the inside. Wait till his girlfriend gets a load of his bed-head.

Leo and I have been friends since the beginning of the freshman year of college. We shared a Cal class together and instantly connected. I mean sure, we knew each other during high school, and we had a few parties, but we never got close until that one year.

Man, high school wasn't that long ago, was it? Only a couple years since graduation. I remember everything, kind of. A significant thing of high school was the group of friends that I had. Me, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libr-

As I replayed old friends faces in my head, I mentally matched Libra's face with the pictures that Leo showed me all those times.

They're still together? After all these years?

I turned to Leo, preparing to bombard him with questions.

"Is your so-called 'girlfriend' Libra by any chance?"

"Yeah." He replied nonchalantly, still distracted by the TV. Then he whipped his head towards me.

"Oh crap, Aries! You just had to keep me in the dark about my girlfriend visiting today?! Are you flipping kidding me?!"

Leo frantically ran around the condo, picking up empty potato chip bags and tossing them into a trash can, mumbling incoherent words that were probably threats towards me. He changed into red tee, jean shorts and tennis shoes. He sprinted past me, but stopped when he saw what I was wearing.

"Dude, she's bringing a friend."

I raised an eyebrow.

"It's Gem."

I pushed myself off our shared sofa and ran to my bedroom, picking up old clothes from last week, so my old crush wouldn't think I'm a total slob.

My crush on Gemini started out small. The first time when Libra introduced us was at the end of 8th grade, when Gem moved from Tennessee into our school district. Her hair was longer back then, and she was so shy. Unfortunately, I lost contact with her when we split our separate ways after high school. She was sweet, cool, and looked like an innocent creature lost in the woods. When she felt comfortable around us, she let loose, becoming the perky geek that we all knew and loved. She and Libra became inseparable and it doesn't surprise me that they still are. But, what I really loved about her was her eyes. Light, crystal blue, like the color of the sky on a sunny, cloudless day. They always used to sparkle with curiosity that had always intrigued me. I could've looked into them all day. If I ever thought for a second that I wouldn't be able to see those again, I would've told her then and there, instead of questioning her feelings for me as well.

I blame myself for our separation. I moved to L.A. after high school, hoping to get a career out of the music I had wrote. My phone would go off at the most inconvenient of times, and I would dismiss it, thinking it was something of inferior importance. But they just so happened to be Gemini texting me, saying Hi, but she would never get a hello. I got so caught up in a possible record deal, that her friendship just slipped from my fingers. A record deal that never happened, and now I'm stuck here, working as a lifeguard at the Florida beach, with a lost bestfriend that just happened to at the right place at the right time.

I blew my brown hair out of my face as I changed out of my robe and boxers, wiping the left over cereal off my face- how did one get on my nose? What?

"30 minutes!" I heard Leo shout from the tiny kitchen, the sound of dishes clinking in the background.

"Thank you 30!" I replied out of instinct. Theatre is still stuck in my system from high school, I see.

I finished getting ready, a black V-neck with dark blue jean shorts and black converse. Those go together, right?, I questioned. Shrugging it off, I went back into the living room and flopped back on the couch, releasing a minty-fresh breath I didn't know I was holding, and looked at my watch.

5 more minutes.

For those 5 minutes, I sat there, staring at my wrist and fiddling with my dark blue survival bracelet, with a million question bouncing around in my mind.

Will she remember me?

How will she react when she sees me?

Does she like me back?

A key entering the lock interrupted my thoughts.

Gemini's POV

We entered the condo building, climbed the flight of stairs, and finally arrived at the dark oak door with the number 3019 written across a metallic plate. Libra, rambling about something a beach party tonight, shoved the copper key into the lock and turned the knob opening it wide enough for me to slip through.

I observed the apartment, running my eyes through the room, and smiling at Libra's and Leo's reunion.

"Leo!" Libra cried when he appeared around the corner. She ran and hugged him, wrapping her legs around his waist. He chuckled and caught her, smiling into her neck. She let go, and the two shared a loving kiss, that lasted for way too long.

"Get a room." I smirked and said, while a deep voice accompanied me.

Another human showed around the corner that separated the kitchen from the living room.

I took a step back from realization.

"No way." I whispered

"Is that a good 'no way' or a bad 'no way'." The deep voice spoke again

Tears stung my eyes. Happy tears, of course. Here he was. My old high school love.

Of course he didn't need to know that.

"A-aries?" I managed to choke out.

He furrowed his eyebrows in concern, and started to walk towards me slowly, "Yeah?"

I laughed, my white teeth showing and shining.

"Aries!" I ran towards him and hugged him tight. He breathed out what seemed a sigh a relief into a chuckle and embraced me as well. He spun me around and set me down. He took my face in his hands, wiping the fallen joyful tears off of my cheeks. And I wanted kiss him so bad, I missed him so much.

So that's what I did.

I grabbed his t-shirt in my fists and pulled his face towards mine and pressed my lips against his. He shut his hazel eyes, and our mouths moved in sync. We pulled apart, needing breath.

"Woah." Leo stood stunned.

I turned to the pair. Leos blue eyes were widened with surprise, while Libra's face held a smile.

"I told you you'd be appreciative." She said.

I turned to Aries, who immediately pulled me in for round 2.
