44~Baby it's cold outside
((CW: mature themes))
(Friday, 8.45am)
Soft sounds escaped the room as the couple began to wake from their slumber. Legs and arms tangled around each other in a warm embrace that neither of the two wanted particularly to get out of. "Umm just ten more minutes..." the green-haired male mumbled into the other's chest before somehow manoeuvring his body so that he was lying on top of the other, the soft rise and fall of his boyfriend's breathing lulling him back to sleep.
At first it was just the sound of his phone playing that ridiculous ringtone over and over again, then, the sound of the door bell downstairs being rung in successive intervals, and finally the knocking began, the incessant knocking that sounded as though the door would be broken down any second.
Midorikawa winced, finding it extremely difficult to piece all the annoying sounds together, his dream-like state not helping one bit.
He felt his boyfriend stir underneath him. "Ugh, what is that?" He mumbled before rolling the shorter male off of him and sitting up. Midorikawa groaned, pulling himself up and rubbing his eyes-before going completely red.
It wasn't like it was the first time or anything, nevertheless he always found the morning-after extremely embarrassing. Hiroto chuckled and simply pulled the other into a warm hug, which quickly turned into a tickle fight which ended up with the red-head making a trail of butterfly kisses all over his boyfriend's body. "Kiyama! Stop, I can't...breathe!" Midorikawa shouted in between laughs. He rolled over, still laughing until his eyes landed on the digital clock.
"HOLY FRIGGIN' CHRIST! I'M GONNA BE LATE!" He yelled before jumping up and trying to find his clothes, running past the mirror only to run back and try and comb his bed hair through with his fingers whilst hopping on one leg, trying to put one of Hiroto's socks on his foot before realising his mistake but just carrying on anyway. "Ugh who's at the goddamn door!"
"Uh Mido-" Hiroto began, peering through a gap in the curtains. "It's your boss...and he really does NOT look pleased."
All the colour drained from Midorikawa's face. "What? What is he doing here?" Hiroto too began to hastily put some clothes on "He's your carpool right?"
"Yeah but that still doesn't answer why he would decide to turn up at my boyfriend's house now does it? He doesn't even know we're dating! Look just...stall for me okay, I'm nowhere near ready!" Hiroto quickly scurried down the stairs, shirt buttoned completely incorrectly, a pair of jogging bottoms on and messy hair all just complimenting the 'just got laid' look. He stopped just outside the door to gather his composure before pasting a smile on his face and opening the door. Being greeted by a tall, thin man with wavy, jet-black hair slung up in a ponytail, his new glasses making him seem even more intimidating than usual.
"Oh Saginuma, what an...unexpected surprise!"
Saginuma stared back at him with cold eyes "Where's Ryuuji?" He stated flatly, his eyes taking in the other's bedraggled look and tsking. Hiroto laughed nervously; back at SunGarden himself, Nagumo, Suzuno and Midorikawa had always been close-but Saginuma was by far the closest to his boyfriend, he really didn't want to make the older man angry.
"So uh...how come you're here-" Hiroto started before he was interrupted by the taller male "Well I went over to Ryuuji's this morning to pick him up, as I always do, and after a while I realised he wasn't home. So I phoned Haruya and he said that Ryuuji would most likely be here...with you." The shorter male went slightly red upon remembering the couples' last encounter with the fiery red-head.
Just before the atmosphere could get any more awkward, the two were alerted to the sound of feet pittering down the stairs, Midorikawa arrived at the door pretty breathless "I am so so sorry Saginuma I-" The black haired man simply put up his hand "Whatever, I don't want to hear it. Get in the car. First appointment's in ten minutes-Shiba with worms, I'm having you take it up this time." Saginuma walked off and Midorikawa just sighed "Well, duty calls I'm afraid." His boyfriend just smiled and soon enough the two were exchanging their 'I love you's', along with a sneaky kiss that was got very intimate at one point-until a large honk from the boss' car made them pull apart, Midorikawa entering the car very flushed indeed.
Saginuma tsked but said nothing more on the matter 'Good thing I bought him that automatic cat feeder last year...' He thought to himself as they drove off.
(5.50pm~ Tsunami's place)
He knew what he was doing was both crazy and so unlike himself, but he felt like he was beginning to run out of options, if he didn't do something soon he'd lose Tsunami for sure! 'You're being irrational. You know Tsunami loves you more than anything in the world. You don't have to do this!' His thoughts pushed back but he ignored them, there wasn't anything irrational about this at all, he was being completely logical! And this time he was sure that his plan would go well, considering so far it was three-nil to his boyfriend...
(Yesterday)
The man tried to calm his breathing a little 'so maybe outright flirting is NOT your best asset, but this time you'll get him for sure!' He was still as nervous as he'd always been but knew he must swallow those fears if he was going to do it. Adjusting his position for a third time he tried to calm his beating heart, pulling a hand through his golden hair in an effort to look more presentable to the other. There was footsteps echoing across the hallway, almost to the door now. 'Okay Yuuki, calm down. You got this, right?'
Right.
"Hey Yuuki, have you seen-"
"Hey Tsunami~"
Nothing
Literally nothing
Tsunami gave the other an odd look, tilting his head to the side a little.
"What's wrong Tsu-na-mi?~" The brunette whispered. Tsunami simply pointed at him. "Uh why aren't you wearing any clothes?"
The brunette blinked before trying to gain some composure. "W-what do you mea-"
"You'll catch a chill like that Yuuki! Here." He pulled out a blanket from behind the bed, draping the soft material over his boyfriend's pale skin. He smiled "There we go, can't have you catching a cold now can we?"
He began to walk out of the room "Hey if you see Poppy anywhere, will ya let me know. I can't seem to find her anywhere." Tachimukai sighed wearily and dragged his sorry self up, wrapping the blanket tighter around his body. "How do you even lose something that big? She's bigger than me!" His boyfriend just laughed in response, ruffling the other's chestnut hair.
"Why don't you just follow the trail of my semi-destroyed socks, that'll lead you to her for sure."
His boyfriend grinned, pulling the shorter one into a big hug "You're a damn genius Tachimukai, why didn't I think of that!" And with that declaration he ran off, Tachimukai hung his head in defeat. "You win again Tsunami, you win again..."
He opened the plastic bag and pulled out the two bottles, feeling the cold, sleek glass on his skin. "I can't believe that shopkeeper asked me for ID, I mean I know I'm small but damn!" This would be enough right? He didn't know-he'd never done something like this before. He wasn't even sure what type he was supposed to get, there were so many different options at the store he was rather overwhelmed at the choice; he knew vodka stung and he at least wanted to make this a pleasant enough experience. Tachimukai had never really been a drinker, but he supposed that would make it a little easier, having a low alcohol tolerance. Oh, and he hadn't eaten anything beforehand- that was a tip he'd learned from watching his friends at uni whenever they dragged him along on one of their bar crawls. It made getting drunk easier.
His hands shook as he held the bottle with both hands. "I can't do this sober, I'll have to get drunk if I'm to stand any chance of...coercing my boyfriend." He cringed at the words, they sounded so wrong, so gross. He took another deep breath, trying to steady himself, trying to justify it to himself- just once more.
"W-well...kanpai."
He could start to feel himself getting tingly, his eyesight beginning to blur as everything around him started to slow and get fuzzy. It took barely any time at all, and that was the worrying part. "Shit...am I really that much of a...l-lightweight?" He muttered, staring into the bottom of his glass. At least the rum had been very sweet, it was nice at least. He tried to stand momentarily and immediately lost his balance, collapsing back onto the sofa. "Woah...I...n-need to stop..."
'You're afraid to go the whole way huh? What a wimp. You know there's no way you'll be able to do this if you're not completely drunk-are you scared or something?'
He tried to ignore the thoughts, but they simply came back, stronger than before. 'You're not even that drunk!?'
For a moment he wondered why he was even bothering with getting drunk- he could always just ask his boyfriend.
No, no, there's no way he'd be able to do that.
'Besides...' that voice in his head floated through, like a thick, poisonous fog '...this way they'll be no pesky nerves or fears to get in the way...you'll be able to do it with barely any memory of it at all...'
That was...something he hadn't considered. A silly thought really but...
Not one he could deny hadn't crossed his mind on multiple occasions.
'You won't remember if it's bad...'
He shook his head, wanting to be rid of such thoughts. "Focus on the drink." He muttered to himself. He was scared, and he knew he was probably going to really regret this come tomorrow morning. But the voice was right, it needed to be realistic, it needed to be more. Just as he was about to knock back the rest of the poison, the front door opened with a start.
Poppy bounded in, leaping up at the slouched man before instantly turning her nose up at the alcoholic aroma, running back outside. "We're back! God you should've seen the size of the driftwood that Poppy-" The other man stopped, noticing first the uneasy atmosphere, and secondly the weird way his boyfriend was splayed out on the sofa; a dim lamp being the only source of illumination to the room. "Tachimukai?" He asked, noticing the way his dog whined warily.
"Hmmmm?" The other answered, long and drawn out as he got up, legs feeling like jelly. He stumbled over to the other, leaning on the kitchen counter for support. "Heyyyyy Tsuuunami~" he sang, trying his best to sound flirty, or at least happy. Tsunami frowned, gripping his face with his hands. "Ah Yuuki, what have you done?"
He gave a lopsided grin, grabbing his boyfriend's shirt and pulling him down to his height "Nothing baby, I've just...loosened up a little. Now how's about you and I go and enjoy a little alone time together~" He blushed at the words- somehow, pretending to be drunker than he was was the only way he was able to talk in such a way. Not that any blush would be visible on his already flushed face. He parted his lips, 'to hell with it' pulling his boyfriend into a passionate kiss- but the other pulled away in an instant.
He held him at arms length in front of him, looking concerned. Tsunami spoke slowly, quietly. 'Ah, he really must think I'm drunk.' The brunette thought.
"Tachimukai. You're clearly drunk and I'm not going to take advantage of you when you can't think properly."
He let go and walked over to the table-one and a half empty bottles of rum greeting him.
"W-wait Tsunami, i-it's not taking advantage of me if it's what I want right?" Tachimukai stumbled over, running pale hands over his boyfriend's toned chest. Tsunami frowned "It is Tachimukai. I won't do this with you if you're drunk, that's wrong!"
The chestnut-haired man was starting to get frustrated now, pushing him down onto the sofa and taking his t-shirt off, tugging at the hem of Tsunami's own.
"Hey Yuuki stop-"
"No! You listen to me alright Tsunami? We have to do this!" He yelled, his boyfriend winced, grabbing the other's shaking hands. "No we don't." He whispered, sitting up. He stroked Tachimukai's cheek softly as his anger began to subside a little. "What's gotten into you huh baby?"
Tachimukai bit the inside of his cheek, too drunk to feel the pain associated with it. He felt so ashamed, but looking into those loving eyes he knew he had to come clean. "I-I'm sorry Tsunami...I don't know what came over me I just..."
"It's okay, you're drunk, you don't know what you're doing-"
He shook his head in defiance. "No, I'm not drunk Tsunami-"
"-That's exactly what a drunk person would say." He interrupted laughing a little, Tachimukai punched him lightly in the arm, tears starting to brim in his eyes. The other noticed and immediately went silent, realising the gravity of the situation. Now wasn't the time for jokes.
The brunette sniffed. "I was...too scared to get drunk...b-but I am a little woozy...I think I'm just on the edge." A soft touch of Tsunami's fingers wiping the stray tears from his eye willed him to continue. "I know I've been acting weirdly lately and I'm really sorry it's just... I'm scared..."
Tsunami gently caressed his boyfriend's cheek, mellowing his voice. "Scared of what honey?"
Tachimukai took another deep breath. He felt so stupid, so fucking stupid like always. "Just... scared that if we don't do this soon then you'll lose interest in me...and leave me."
"I know it's crazy!" He exclaimed hurriedly, not giving his boyfriend a chance to answer. "But I just see you, this confident, crazy hot, amazing guy and then I look at myself and well...there's no comparison. I'm not like you. I'm plain and boring and shy and-I don't know just!- Just- I need to show you I can up my game you know?!" He wiped away another tear from his eye. "Am I making sense? I was just hoping that, if I somehow convinced you that I wasn't just some shy, boring, guy then maybe you'd want to stay with me..." He lowered his head, feeling so unbelievably ashamed of himself, so miserable, so undeserving of all the love his boyfriend constantly showed him.
He heard his boyfriend let out a long sigh, before a heavy hand was placed on his shoulder. "Yuuki. I say this with the utmost love and respect, but for someone so smart, you can be so dumb sometimes." The brunette looked up at that comment, at those kind eyes that were smiling at him despite the frustration hidden behind them. "Where could you have possibly got the idea from?" He continued and Tachimukai gripped onto the fabric of his shorts, fingernails digging into his delicate skin below. "I know. I know! And I'm so sorry! Shit I know, I know you love me-that's the crazy part, we've already been over that!" He could feel his heartbeat begin to pick up again, badum, badum, god it was so loud. "I..." the words kept getting stuck in his throat. Why did he have to be so self-conscious all the damn time? It's like they were just going round in circles.
He grit his teeth, words barely comprehensible. "I just! You need to know! It's the elephant in the room! We can't just keep ignoring it, I mean we've been together for so long now, and we've never even talked about it!"
"Oh baby..." Tsunami held onto the other tightly, rubbing his back as the other sobbed pathetically. "Hey now, there's no need to get upset. Yuuki, you mean so much to me, I wish you'd just told me sooner, couples aren't meant to have secrets right? I never knew you felt this way, I'm sorry."
He listened to his boyfriend's pitiful sobs, lifting his face slightly and kissing his forehead. "Nothing could stop me from loving you, you know that Yuuki."
"I know..." came the mumbled reply as he gazed up into those loving eyes. "B-but-"
He put a finger to Tachimukai's lips. "But nothing." He said gently. "It's not a race you know, it's not something we can rush into. I don't think either of us are ready for that yet. I like us just how we are at the moment."
"What do you mean?" Tachimukai asked, wiping the last few remaining tear stains from his pale cheeks. Tsunami just smiled down at him sweetly, brushing away some stray hairs from his boyfriend's forehead. "Well...I mean it'll be a first for both of us. So I don't want us to rush into it; it's supposed to be special, I don't want to ruin that."
Finally the brunette understood. All this time he was worried his boyfriend thought he was too boring, too innocent to take their relationship to the next level. But in reality he was just as nervous as Tachimukai was, he wanted it to be a good moment, something they did at their own pace, when it felt right.
Breathing a sigh of relief for the first time, Tachimukai let out a small chuckle as his boyfriend picked his shirt off the floor and handed it back too him.
"Don't want you to catch a chill now, do we!"
Tachimukai couldn't help but laugh.
"Oh yeah, I forgot I had a surprise for you." Tsunami remarked as the credits of Batman Begins played. Tachimukai still couldn't quite believe his boyfriend had never seen a single Batman movie before.
"What is it?" He asked, watching quizzically as the older man disappeared into another room.
"Ta da!" He announced, walking back in and doing a quick twirl (almost knocking the popcorn bowl off the table in the process).
Glasses. Tsunami had gotten glasses.
"They're terrible aren't they? You're not saying anything so that must mean you hate them!" Tsunami exclaimed with a pout. His boyfriend just laughed at the overreaction. "Don't be silly Jousuke. They're actually kinda cute." Tachimukai said, giggling a little to himself. 'He looks even hotter with them on.'
"It's good to know you're looking after your eyesight."
"I'd been trying to ignore it but the optician said it was for the best, at least for reading." Tsunami explained, taking back his rightful seat next to his gorgeous boyfriend. "You really think they look okay on me?" He asked and the brunette smiled and pecked his lips "Absolutely darling."
((Wow sorry I've not been updating in ages, I've probably already said this but thanks for 3K views guys!))
