This is what would have happened if Cath never went back to save Mary Anne.

Cath awoke with a jump. For a moment she had no idea where she was or why she was here, where ever "here" was. She looked to her left and saw Jest, asleep. She could see his black hair pressed to his face, his arm under his head, and looking so very, very handsome.
Jest opened his eyes, a little surprised to see Cath staring at him.
"Hello" he calmly said.
Cath watched at Jest pulled her close to him, staring into his eyes made her feel safe, and glad she was not in Hearts.
Cath was having nightmares every night since she came back from Hearts, she could still hear the screaming of someone, wanting to look, but didn't want the pictures in stone to come true.
"Hello to you too." Cath smoothly said to Jest. Her heart exploded as Jest pulled her against him, wrapped his arms around her and kissed her.
She felt Jest's hands grasp her hair, she closed her eyes and savored this moment, as if it was one of her freshly baked pies.
As Jest pulled away she saw him smile, his calm golden eyes, his eyes said enough.
"Was it another nightmare?" Jest asked, with concern in his voice. He looked at her as though it was the first time they had ever seen each other, it was amazing.
"Yes, I heard the scream again, I want to know what that was, but I'm afraid I might loose you." She was so far, glad she did not go back to see what that scream was, though it sounded vaguely familiar.
"Don't worry, everything will be okay, your here now, with me." Jest looked at her with longing in his eyes.
Catherine stared at the ring on Jests left finger, the gold band that had her name carved into it. Then she remembered. Everything can flooding back to her, the memories of her dress, his wonderful look, her engagement ring, the isle, the "I do's", the kiss, the laugh, everything.
Jest looked at Cath, remembering the moment as well.
"I'm so glad your mine." He said simply.
"I'm glad your mine too, forever."
Cath pulled the covers of her white, gold, and black bed up to her chin.
Cath closed her eyes.
Jest closed his eyes.
And they were together.
