Runa figured it was a good day to get outside and play with Cookie, so after getting a ball for her, she threw it far and watched as Cookie sped after it and it made the woman feel content as she laughed at her silly dog who came speeding back to give her the toy again. She felt like a little girl again, the girl that always wanted a furry companion and she wondered how in the world Jungkook ever convinced her father to allow this.
But she knew it wouldn't take much considering how persuasive the bodyguard was, and now that she was smiling and looking into Cookie's beady eyes while petting her, it hit her at that moment. The only possible reason why her father never let her get a dog even when that was the only thing she ever asked for. He wanted her to be alone, he wanted to deny her of something that she wanted just for the sake of holding power over her.
Just the thought of her father doing that made her feel gloomy, but that was quickly replaced with a sheepish grin when her not-so-secret crush walked over and bent down to pet the Doberman who eagerly accepted the affection. She felt the brush of his coat against her, and it seriously wasn't that big of a deal but he was close, so close and her heart wouldn't stop pounding in her ears.
The inhales of breath did nothing to calm her down, and she knew she was in deep because why exactly was she getting so worked up just by his presence? It's like his energy sucked her in, making her want more, and to hide her embarrassment, she of course resorts to small talk.
"It's a nice day, I figured it would be good to get outside. You know...clear my head and all", she stands up and Jungkook does too, and he watches as she throws the ball quite far and Cookie zooms after it.
"It is. I know you must be thinking a lot about your mother and what Dori said. In my experience, there is always some truth in the lies. I know it's upsetting to think about, especially considering who lives in the same residence as us, but from now on we keep things away from your father."
She glanced over at him, relieved to hear he agreed with her and could see what she was hiding. Dori got to her head, she hated to admit it but it was understandable considering how desperate she was to learn anything about her mother. She quickly grabs the ball from Cookie when she returns and throws it once again.
"Yeah, I don't want him to know that I'm investigating him and his past. I just...it's hard to process. I've never even known the woman but I miss her so much. I wonder every day what it would be like if she was alive. Would we get along? What would her relationship with my dad be like? I wonder every day and I'm tired. I want answers."
Jungkook nods, standing close beside her as she throws the ball again and it bounces in the grass from a distance. He's never thought about his parents much, but somehow he could feel what she felt. The not knowing was killing her and what made things scarier was the fact that possible enemies knew more of her family than she did. Information was everything in this business and without it, you were weak. And she hated feeling like that.
"I'll help you in any way I can. I don't know how specifically, but I will. You deserve the truth and your father needs to be put in his place. If Dori is right about him, we leave immediately and make sure your father doesn't know."
She frowns, wondering why he made such a drastic suggestion, "Leave? What do you mean?"
Jungkook turns to her and she can tell how serious he is about this from his eyes and the crease between his scrunched eyebrows. And of course, at such a wrong time, she gets stuck staring at him and how he glows in the sunshine that hits his face at the perfect angle.
His eyes looked like pools of honey, his hair still as black as the trenchcoat that covered his body and his skin looked only a few shades lighter than caramel. She didn't even realize it until he spoke up again, but other than the sun beaming down on them, her face was hot and she was a bit breathless. My god, how embarrassing.Luckily he paid no attention to her gawking as he spoke.
"My number one priority is keeping you safe, and if it turns out your father did something to your mother, I can't say with full confidence I feel comfortable with you being around him. He might try to hurt you if he somehow finds out that you know and I can't have that."
"You realize he could hunt us down right?"
"He can try, but with me by your side, you can rest assured that he won't be getting within a hundred feet of you without getting severely hurt. Meaning a few bullets in his skull."
She quickly looks around to make sure no one is watching them and steps closer to him, "You realize what you're saying? If someone hears you-"
He finishes the sentence for her, his tone still as intense as his eyes, "I could be killed for speaking against him, but I won't be. This stays between us and if it turns out your father did kill your mother, he will die as well."
Runa is stunned and goes silent for a few seconds, fully processing what he had said and it made her heart race again, "You mean...would you kill him for me? If he did kill her and if he tried to hurt me...you would do that?"
With a firm nod as a response, she almost faints on the ground and loses her mind just by the way he says it. How sure he was of himself and his confidence was so attractive it had her knees feeling weak. Not just because he threatened her father, the ruler of the city, but because they weren't empty threats.
He could do more than a little damage, and if he so wished to do it, he could destroy Min-Su in more ways than one. The fact that they were conspiring against him was seen as an act of treason but neither of them cared. And it made her feel comforted to know he'd go against his boss for her.
"As I said before, a person's status in life has no meaning to me. I don't care what I have to do, I am supposed to keep you safe, and I will die before I let him or anyone hurt you."
To hide how flustered she was, she smiled cheekily and nudged his stiff shoulder which barely made him budge, "I see how seriously you take your job but are you sure you're not obsessed with me yet? If not, you are quite the strong soldier."
His firm expression eases and he blinks a few times before shaking his head at her flirtatiousness, "You have impeccable timing."
His dead sarcasm makes her laugh and the two watch Cookie sit in the grass and chew on her ball from a distance, beds of flowers surrounding them of all shapes, sizes, and colors and the smell makes her feel fuzzy inside. It makes her wonder how it would feel to hug him. Feeling his strong, buff arms wrap around her shoulders and-
"I mean it, Runa. Cookie and I will keep you safe no matter what it costs us. You'll rule this city one day."
She blushes and turns to him, looking up to admire his side profile and how perfect he looks. It makes her insides squeeze with giddiness and this peaceful moment feels so beautiful to her. Even if it's just a regular day in her garden, he and Cookie being by her side is what makes this memory sacred.
"You think so?"
He looked down at her gleaming Doe eyes, seeing how gorgeous they looked in the sunlight and how the purple she wore seemed to make her look even more enthralling. For a second, he feels something weird in his stomach, like he's nervous, and he frowns slightly, looking deeply into her eyes to try and search for anything she could be hiding.
He sees how red her cheeks are from how he looks at her so intently, and yet she doesn't look away even for a second. Other than the sun glowing above, the cool breeze feels refreshing and it blows her hair in the perfect direction. Jungkook knows in his heart the power that's coming, how the air is shifting and the rumors won't just be rumors anymore.
"Runa...I know you will. You're the Kang heir, you're the woman at the top of her game and there's nothing that can stop you."
💎🗡💎🗡💎🗡
Currently standing on her balcony, she looked out at the river not too far from the mansion and admired how beautifully the moonlight sparkled across the deep blue water. It reminded her of Jungkook, the small twinkle in his eyes that she'd see occasionally and earlier today when they enjoyed the warm weather and beaming sun.
The serene atmosphere made her feel calm, so entranced by the moon and watching the water flow that she barely noticed Cookie was beside her and looking into the forest curiously. Until she heard a small growl, Runa looked down at her dog and out in the direction where her eyes were, looking to see if maybe she saw something.
"It's ok, Cookie. It might just be an animal", she ushered the dog inside where Cookie sat right in front of the sliding glass door to watch her owner.
Runa looked out again, thinking she saw something shining but maybe it was late and her eyes were playing tricks on her. It was most likely just the moonlight shining at a particular angle, causing an illusion. So she shrugged it off and decided to head to bed since it was late.
She assumed Jungkook was already asleep even though she had the small urge to go see him but exhaustion quickly washed over her as soon as she sunk into her bedsheets. When she tried to get comfortable, she couldn't. There was a weird feeling in her gut and she didn't know why, and Cookie's low growling didn't help to ease that anxiousness.
"Cookie, stop that", Runa grumbled, tossing to lay on her right side but the Doberman didn't listen and kept growling.
Having enough of it, Runa stumbles out of bed and opens her door to let Cookie out, which she does, and runs down the stairs to probably get some water from her bowl in the kitchen. Seeing as she was too lazy to wait for her, Runa just shut her bedroom door and as soon as she turned around, her blood ran cold and she froze in place, seeing a shadowy figure at the corner of her room.
It was silent for a few moments, the figure not moving even an inch and it wasn't an illusion, she wasn't sleepwalking or hallucinating even though she was beyond tired, and this creepy shadow certainly did the job of making her adrenaline rush. She doesn't move, but she eases her body and stays in place, not wanting to make any sudden moves and of course, her dog had to be downstairs right at this time.
"You've been ignoring me, little angel. You've hurt my feelings, ya know?", the figure says, and she instantly recognizes who it is when the man steps out of the dark and stands where the moonlight shines in from the windows.
His hair gave it away, seeing streaks of red glowing and although she could barely make out anything, the natural lighting helped her see him and his grin. But she was pissed. How dare he come in here like that? How was that even possible?
"I didn't expect you to be in my bedroom at almost midnight. What do you want?"
He chuckles at her harsh tone and walks towards her, making her uneasy but she remains calm, "I've missed you. I haven't seen you in so long...I wonder why that is."
His suggestive tone makes her stomach burn, especially when he's only a few inches away and his hand stretches out to caress the side of her face. Seeing as Taehyung was unpredictable and didn't have good intentions from the fact that he snuck in here, she decides to not get snappy with him and see what he wants.
With men like him, it's best to stay calm and not aggravate them, especially because now he had her at a disadvantage. She was alone and her guard dog was downstairs, her bodyguard in the West Wing, and she hated this. She hated how he touched her, and the nickname that he used.
"Taehyung, I've been busy", she says, slowly removing his hand from her face and giving it a light squeeze.
"Oh? But you weren't busy enough to meet with Yoongi or Dori. Is that right?", he says harshly, stepping dangerously close and she could see he was a ticking time bomb.
That's when it settles in her mind his true motives. He came here to kill her, she could see the malicious intent in his eyes and the possessiveness in his tone. At that moment, she was grateful she got over her stubbornness and listened to Jungkook and Dong-Wook when they told her to stay away from the gangster. And now look where he is...
"Taehyung, I had business to handle with both of them. Don't tell me you're jealous."
The gangster rolls his eyes with a small grin, "Maybe a little. I don't see any reason why you should be ignoring me. And don't give me any dumb fucking excuses because I know you have."
She could see he was losing control, his temper was rising but it didn't scare her. Fear wasn't something she felt too often and although it made her heart pump and her adrenaline rush, she knew she could handle this just as she'd handled many unruly people before.
If it came down to it, she'd have no problem fighting for her life. She was considered one of the best after all. All she had to do was get that dagger underneath her pillow, and she again thanked Jungkook silently for that idea.
"Come sit with me. Come on", she ushered him while sitting down at the edge of her bed, close to where her pillow was.
He obeyed, getting way too close and she had the urge to roll her eyes. But instead, she bats her lashes and holds his handsome face in her hands, looking into his crazed eyes that could never focus on just one thing, always flickering, always on edge and ready to snap.
A tinge of disappointment started to nibble at her gut. One of her childhood friends wanted to kill her, but that was soon swept under the rug and she remembered that he was crazy after all. He truly didn't care and now neither did she.
"I didn't mean to hurt you. Like I said, I've been busy and a lot has been happening. I hope you can understand that", she says while caressing his face, smiling warmly and pretending to act innocent and sweet just so he'd relax and she'd have the opportunity to kill him once his guard was down.
Just the thought excited her and sent a rush of adrenaline coursing through her veins. Seeing the blood everywhere, the warmth of it splattered across her hands and her clothes. Although the blood was a pain in the ass to clean up, the mess was worthwhile in her opinion.
It had been some time since she'd gotten blood on her hands, and now it was more than just a need. She wanted to kill him, and the fact that they grew up together was of no concern to her. Once a traitor, there was no mercy or forgiveness, and she didn't take things lightly.
He hums and leans into her touch, looking at her like some predator that wants to tear her to pieces and feed on her flesh. He was out of his mind and she noticed the small white dust coating the tip of his nose now that she was close enough to see it. She chuckles a little, wiping it off and he didn't even notice what it was until she spoke up.
"I'm disappointed Taehyung, you know the rules. Don't get high on your supply", she rubs her hands down his neck and suppresses the urge to squeeze the life out of him.
"I'm not one for rules, little angel. You know this", he says menacingly, leaning in close and licking the side of her face.
It makes her shiver with disgust but she holds back, this wasn't the right time to make a move and although it makes her guts twist, she lets him touch her and kiss her neck just like she did with Dori. Truly these two were so much alike, both blinded by their emotions to see the manipulation.
"Do you think you should be touching me like this? Someone would kill you if they knew what you did", she whispers in his ear, grabbing his hair and pushing him down on the bed so she straddled him and he groans in response.
"What I've done? I just came to visit my friend is all...no harm no foul. It's not my fault you're the one who's getting worked up", he giggled, enjoying the angle and he moaned softly when she tugged at his hair again, pushing him into the mattress and leaning down to brush her nose against his while gazing back at him with fire in her eyes.
He was excited, she could tell by the bulge pressing against her thigh that he was the one getting worked up. That sense of Deja vu was of no comfort to her. Even though he was here to hurt her, it was obvious that wasn't the only thing he had in mind.
"I'm the one getting worked up?", she bites his lip and he flinches in surprise, his eyes a bit wide and glossy from shock when he slowly starts to process her lips sucking on his neck.
"I can feel how hard you are just from a few kisses. It's pathetic Taehyung. But I can't lie and say I don't want this. It's fun to me, to see how obsessed you are. It makes me feel good. Seeing the effect I have on you", she says while biting down a little harder on his collarbones and she smirks when she hears a gasp leave his lips.
She hated seducing people to get her way, that was something she could never get used to because it caused her such discomfort. But she was always a pro at handling and hiding her emotions. To everyone else, she was the seductress, because they couldn't ever read her. She never allowed them to.
But right now, Taehyung was too busy enjoying this momentary bliss to care what he originally came here for. It was still a priority, but before he had to do the job, he was going to have a little party beforehand. So when she tears his shirt open, licking down his perfectly toned body and nibbling his hipbones, his eyes fluttered closed and he breathed heavily, clearly under her thrall.
"Play with me, please", he voices out breathlessly, trying to gain composure but he can't.
Not with the way she was touching him, how perfectly her lips felt grazing his skin, like pillows or clouds from their delicacy that was countered by the roughness of her bites. It hurt so well to the point where he had no desire to assert dominance and be in control. Within just a few minutes, he had completely surrendered to her without a fight. That showed just how deeply obsessed he was with her.
And she can't hold in the laugh upon hearing his pleading, "Look at you, and to think you'd go all gangster on me."
He closes his eyes again when she starts to kiss his stomach and she swiftly takes the opportunity to reach her hand back and grab the dagger underneath her pillow. The only problem was, it wasn't there. Her fingers desperately searched around for it and it made her heart thud faster.
She turns around and lifts the pillow, confused as to why there is nothing there until she hears a menacing chuckle and she turns back to him with a sharp gaze, completely different from how she looked at him seconds ago.
"And to think that maybe you wanted me too", Taehyung smirks, and as soon as he springs up from the bed, she knocks him down onto the floor and punches him repeatedly while he's caught off guard.
"You traitorous bitch!", she yells, until he regains his senses and catches her fist, throwing her body backward so she fell on top of the bed from his strength.
He starts to laugh and it makes her blood boil, and she could see he was amused by the look on her face, "That's right, little angel. I'm here to kill you, I wanted to get a little taste first...but it doesn't look like you're gonna play nicely. Are you?"
She scoffs and gets up from the bed, ready for his next move as he plays with the dagger he slid out from where he hid it in the back of his pants. His ruby rings shining every time the moonlight struck them and it made her pulse quicken from the look he gave her. It was deadly and she couldn't help but feel excitement, and he frowned upon seeing the smirk gracing her plump lips.
"No, I won't play nicely. But if you surrender to me, I won't cut you into tiny little pieces."
That was a lie but she just wanted to see if he would give in to her, if he would fall for the trick but the knowing look he wore told her that wasn't going to happen.
"I don't think so. I'd rather us have a nice little tussle before I slit your throat. It's good for the soul."
He lunges forward and in an instant, she sweeps him off his feet and kicks him in the side while he's down, dragging him up by his hair to exit her room but before she could reach the door, he grabbed her leg to try and pull her down with him but failed in doing so, seeing as she was quick enough to catch on and punched his face a few times before he scrambled away and held the dagger in his hand when she approached him.
He slams her against the ground a few times, but she kicks him off and smashes his face into the wall so hard his nose cracks and blood drips onto the floor. Other than a minuscule bruise on her cheekbone, he had barely touched her and he looked fucked up, spitting out blood as he lunged forward and grabbed her hair, making her let out a small yelp before she pushed herself into him and his head banged against the wall. A sharp hit to the groin with her knee made him fall onto the floor and before he could drive the dagger into her side, she grabbed his wrist and twisted it, making him cry out and the weapon clattered to the floor.
She swept it away with her foot so he couldn't grab it and slammed his head into the wall a few more times. All this while, they were too focused on fighting each other to hear the aggressive barking and bangs against the door. Until her ears stopped ringing and she turned back to open her bedroom door and allow the dog in, Taehyung grabbed her ankle and pushed her down onto the floor, holding both of her wrists as he head-butted her and made her groan from the harsh impact.
"You're a snake, Kim. I'm going to rip you to shreds", she grits through her teeth, shaking with rage and the adrenaline from fighting and his blood drips down into her face, making her grimace and turn away.
"We'll see about that, little angel", he ducks down to kiss her and she knocks him back, making him yell out in frustration but before she can get up, he bangs her head on the floor so hard she passes out.
He's frantic and the barking makes him snap back into his senses and escape while he can. It was too late, he didn't have enough time to kill her before he heard shouting in the halls. He scrambled out to the balcony and hopped over the edge, grabbing onto the column, climbing down, and escaping through the woods.
Jungkook and Min-Su bust down her door and Cookie immediately runs in and goes to Runa who lies unconscious on the ground. Min-Su searches around and Jungkook goes out to the balcony with his guns in hand, looking around but there is no one out except the guards now searching the grounds.
"Who the fuck was in here!?", the mafia boss yells, putting his weapon back into his holster, both men rush to her side and Jungkook picks her up in his arms, checking her pulse to make sure she was alive.
"She's breathing but unconscious", Jungkook says while carrying her to her bed and laying her down, making sure her head is elevated.
Cookie immediately jumps up on the bed and lays on the girl, making sure she is protected and they see blood on the wall to the left, the drops of red on the floor, along with the mess on her face that streamed down her neck.
"Looks like whoever came in here got injured. She only has a small bruise on her cheek, I don't see any open wounds", Jungkook says while closely examining her and Min-Su groans in frustration.
"Fucking hell. You stay by her side and I'll call Dong-Wook to search for this bastard."
Jungkook turns to nod and his eyes catch something shiny and red on the carpet along with blood. He leans down and picks up the ruby ring, lifting it in the light and he sighs heavily while handing a confused Min-Su the piece of jewelry.
"That's Taehyung's ring. It was him."
The mafia boss clicks his tongue and silently he can see that look in Jungkook's eyes. I warned you. And without another word, Min-Su goes downstairs to hear from his guards that they searched and found nothing. Jungkook closed the broken door and walked over to the sliding glass door, looking out at the night sky before locking it and closing the curtains.
He sits down next to her and moves the hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ears and his eyes focus on the small bruise on her cheekbone, a mix of green and blue that will surely continue to get darker. There were some spots of blood on her face which he took as Taehyung's and he got a washcloth from her connected bathroom, dampening it in the sink and gently dabbing her skin.
Cookie licks his hand and he lets her, making sure the blankets cover Runa and she is in a comfortable position until she wakes up. For the first time in his life, he felt fear. He was asleep when he heard Cookie barking and he knew something was wrong, so rushing out of bed and to the East Wing where her room was, he saw Min-Su had already alerted his men to surround the place and made his way up to her room as well.
Seeing as the door was locked, his heart started to race when he heard thudding against the ground and used all of his strength to break down the door, dreading that it was too late. Luckily the ring left behind was evidence to point them in the right direction of their suspect so they could find him as quickly as possible and handle this. Attempting to kill the Kang heir would certainly bring about the deadliest of consequences, and Jungkook felt grateful that she only had a small bruise.
She was alive and not wounded severely, although she may have had a concussion from the impact of her head against the floor. He had gotten hit badly in the head on one of his first missions and it hurt like hell. He couldn't even imagine how she'd feel when she woke up, and he felt the tiniest bit of guilt like he didn't do enough to protect her. But he didn't dwell too much on how he was feeling, he was too concerned with her and if she'd wake up soon.
Dong-Wook arrives not even ten minutes after Min-Su had called him and ignores his boss as he runs inside the mansion, his hair a disheveled mess and it was more than obvious from his time of arrival he had broken more than a few laws on the road getting here. He busts in the already broken door, his eyes frantic when he approaches her and Jungkook stands to his feet when the underboss kneels by her side, taking her hand in his and patting her head gently.
"Is she ok?", he whispers, his tone almost breaking and it was odd seeing the usually composed man so worried.
But it was to be expected, Jungkook knew what she meant to him and how they were practically father and daughter without the blood ties. He was more of a dad than Min-Su was, and speaking of him, he walked inside the room as calm as ever. Not a single twitch in his dead expression, no care for her well-being, no worry, just a void of emptiness.
"She's alright. A bump in the head, a small bruise, and maybe some other minor injuries. But she fought like hell and did quite some damage", Jungkook says, gesturing towards the wall where Dong-Wook turns to see the bloody mess that would surely stain the white coating of paint.
He breathes out a heavy sigh and stands up, stroking her hair comfortingly a few times before he leans down and kisses her forehead. Jungkook steps back and sees Min-Su rolling his eyes from the far right of his vision, this was such bad timing, but he wanted to give that man a piece of his mind.
Considering his lack of compassion towards his daughter who had just been attacked. He only acted like this was a nuisance, like this was a waste of his time without a care in the world for his flesh and blood. It was disgusting.
The underboss turned to both men, one hand on his hip while the other pet Cookie who scooted down the bed to sniff his hand. The stress was evident in his eyes, and Jungkook felt at ease that at least one man around here felt the same protectiveness over her as he did.
He always knew but seeing the distressed look on his face makes Jungkook confident that Taehyung will surely not get away with this. Min-Su on the other hand...who fucking knows with that man.
"I'm gonna go find Taehyung. He couldn't have gone far, so I'm assuming he went to his cabin since not many knew about the place. You coming?", he directs the question towards Jungkook but with one glance at Min-Su and at Runa lying in bed, he shakes his head.
"No, I'll stay by her side. She might wake up soon."
Dong-Wook nodded in agreement, taking his hand away from Cookie who previously started to lick it and he wiped his palm on his pants, "Yeah, you should stay with her. Make sure to get her some water and an ice pack for her head."
Jungkook sits at the edge of the bed and Cookie moves to rest her head on Runa's chest, "I will. Be quick, it's late."
"Bring Taehyung in the basement and deal with him however you like. But if you kill him, hire somebody quickly to take his place. We don't need an unruly and leaderless gang in this city. God knows how inconvenient enough this is for me", Min-Su grumbles, walking out without another glance toward the resting girl in bed and they watch the mafia boss go down the hall and enter his office.
Both men turn to each other, silent but the disgust and anger are clear on Dong-Wook's face as he shakes his head and runs his fingers stressingly through his hair.
"And per usual, everything's about him", the underboss scoffs with a roll of his eyes, glancing over at Runa with clear worry straining his expression.
"Find Taehyung and we'll deal with him when she wakes up", Jungkook speaks up after a silent moment, and Dong-Wook heads out after giving Cookie a pat on the head and a nod towards the bodyguard who shut the broken door for privacy as soon as he left.
To say Dong-Wook was angry was an understatement. As he drove over to Taheyung's cabin, his grip dangerously tight on the wheel, he was thinking of the million ways he could torture Taehyung.
Not only for being a traitor, which he didn't expect considering the man they both secretly worked for but because he dared to lay a hand on her. That small bruise may seem like nothing, but just the fact that they fought, that there was blood on the wall, on the floor, and even on the rug made his heart race, and had his hands shaking.
"I swear to Christ...when I get my hands on you Kim Taehyung. I'm going to rip out your goddamn lungs and watch you gasp for air."
And now he was going crazy, batshit crazy like what he was known for doing when pushed over the edge. Which meant the out of reach look, the even deadlier laughs that he couldn't contain when seeing his victims in pain, and of course mumbling to himself. He might be smart, but that didn't mean a few screws weren't loose.
His foot was pressed on the gas pedal and he was flying down the road so fast that the woods surrounding both sides were nothing but a green flash, and he had no problem rolling up to the dimly lit cabin with his high beams on. He was anything but subtle, and as he turned the car off and heard men shouting, he shot them all within a few seconds as they pulled their weapons on him and now lay lifeless in the grass.
Bursting in the front door, two men approach from the living room, and a brief moment passes when they're both bleeding out on the expensive mahogany wood flooring. After killing a few more men, none getting close enough for hand-to-hand combat, he rushes up the stairs and his dress shoes thump against the floorboards as he kicks open the bedroom door to see Taehyung examining his bloodied face in the mirror.
"Well well, looks like daddy's home", the gangster sneers with a sadistic chuckle, blood running down his face from his nose and Dong-Wook slaps the taste out of his mouth.
Taehyung was coughing up blood and his ears were ringing as he cradled his head, trying to get away from the man but his efforts were pointless. He fucked around and now he was witnessing the wrath of a man who was known to be merciless and evil.
Once the ringing faded and the underboss' sinister laugh bled into his mind, he knew he was stupid to make such a move but could only smile as Dong-Wook beat him until he was unconscious. He was too pissed to make any sort of snarky comment back to the male while he was awake, and figuring that this was enough for tonight and he got some of his pent-up anger out(for now) he swung the male over his shoulder and carried him to the car.
The outside lights were on so he could see just fine as he carelessly threw the gangster in his truck and took off his suit jacket, belt, and tie, and checked to make sure nothing else was in his pockets or hidden away.
After making sure Taehyung was properly restrained, both his wrists and feet bound with a particular type of rope he kept in his car for emergencies, he got in the driver's side of his vehicle, and on the way back to the Kang Residence, he calls his boss and impatiently waits for a few seconds as the phone rings.
"Hello?", the other voice said as he drove with one hand on the wheel, the other holding the phone to his ear.
"Taehyung's a traitor. He's been working with Dori and tried to kill Runa."
"Is she alive?", the male asks.
The question makes the underboss crack a small, proud smile, "Of course she is. She's unconscious and might have a concussion, but other than a few minor injuries, she's looking good."
The man on the phone sighs heavily with relief, "Thank god. Is Jungkook with her? I don't like the idea of her being in such a vulnerable state around her father."
"Yeah, he's not leaving her side. And neither is her dog."
The man chuckles a bit, "I take it you'll handle this then?"
"Yes, sir. You know I will. If anything else comes up, I'll be sure to let you know. I had a feeling about Taehyung but I thought I was just being paranoid."
The man hums in understanding, "I know. I thought he would be useful but I put her in danger."
Dong-Wook shakes his head although the caller couldn't see, "You didn't. Rest assured that this won't happen again. Jungkook and I will protect her and keep a close eye on everything."
"I take it he's in the clear?"
"All the way, sir."
The man hums, clearly pleased that at least there was someone else alongside her with good intentions, "Good. I can't imagine the problems we'd have if the most notorious assassin was a gun for hire."
"He isn't and I know that for sure. He's good, despite his previous records of employment."
