I hate rugby; with a passion. It's not my thing, at all. The idea of watching guys beat the fudge out of each other just to run a ball down a field. No thanks what so ever!

However, my school's first team rugby squad is made entirely up of hot guys. My best friend loves hot guys.

"Please please please! Emery we have to go to the game! It's the first game of the season it'd be rude not to!"

So here we are, currently lounging in my bedroom as my boy crazy best friend pleads her case.

"I'm just not really into sports, Jade you know that" I mutter as I sketch into my moleskin bullet journal.

"Sports?! Who cares about sports, I'm talking about hot guys in sweaty uniforms!"

I look up from my book exasperated from this conversation, deciding not to dignify my answer with a response.

"Second row by the window, made the team last week..." She states in a singsongy fashion.

I close my sketch book.

"How did you know that?"

"Levi told me"

I should have known it was Levi. Levi was one of my best friends in the world therefore sussed out my fat crush on second row by the window very early on in the year. Plus he's also on the rugby team.

"Also his name's August, but everyone calls him Gus for short."

August.

Even his name is breathtaking.

"And he's going, he's going, oh my god is he gonna make it?! He made it! He did it! Westbrook wins their first game of the season!"

The whole stadium erupts into an explosive amount of pure noise. To be completely honest, the atmosphere was amazing and the game was exhilarating to watch.

"I told you it'd be fun!" Jade boasts with a knowing smirk.

"You're right, you're right, that was pretty fun" I comment as we walk out of the building to meet Levi. We are instantly met with a bombardment of laddish voices screaming at the top of their lungs, still very happy with their victory.

"We won!!" Levi screams at the top of his lungs as he bounces over to Jade and me.

"Well done mate" Jade says to Levi with a blinding smile while ruffling the top of hair.

"Thanks Jade"

While they converse back and forth about the game and the supposed after party, I'm a little preoccupied daydreaming about a certain someone entering the car park with a mop of wet locks and a duffel bag over his shoulder. Wow, even after a game he sure knows how to look effortlessly beautiful.

"Earth to Emery! Hello!"

"Oh what sorry good game"

"Wow Em if you stare at him any longer he's gonna think you're a perv" Levi mutters jokingly.

"Don't say that!"

"Why don't I just call him over so you guys can actually be introduced"

"Omg that's perfect!" Jade exclaims quite excitedly. "Don't you think that's perfect?"

"I... Ummmmm, I... I dun-dunno I"

This can't be happening, it's all just too soon, he probs thinks I'm a total stranger ahhh.

"Great! Levi call him over"

What!

"Yo, Gus!"

And just like that my English class crush pops his head up from the phone screen he'd been staring at so intently...

"Come over for a sec"

And starts walking towards us; toward me...

"Hey man what's up?" Gosh even his voice is beautiful, low, gruff but smooth all at the same time.

"Just wondering if you'd need a lift to the victory party at Tommy's later" Levi states casually.

"Nah mate I'm good Ben's picking me up"

While this causal conversation was going ahead I just couldn't stop staring at him. I've never seen him this up close before and I don't know what to do with myself. I can see every detail of his face. His piercing light blue eyes, his slightly crooked nose, his golden hair and his breathtak-

"Oh by the way these are my good friends Jade and Emery"

"Hey" He smiles

"Hi" Jade answers; I just stand there.

He turns to me. "I feel like I've seen you somewhere before"

My eyes widen.

"You're in Mr Hughes AP English class right? Middle desk third row?"

Omg.

Omg.

He knows who I am!

Fock say something. I'm blowing this, I'm just standing here, staring at him! Oh god!

Speak damn it!

"Ye- Yeah.. that's me alright" Fock, why do I sound so weird???

"Yeah" He chuckles. "You coming to the after party?"

Wow, he's still talking to me, okay what do I say now

"Yeah, we're all gonna be there" Jade answers for me like the lifesaver she is.

"Cool" Gus replies with a smile just as a car pulls into the school car park.

"I gotta go my mum's here but I'll see you guys tonight?"

"You beat!" Levi beams.

"Bye Emery" Gus said as he walks towards the car.

"Bye" I return softly as he got into the car; definitely not hearing me.

Fock.
