Night

Running sucks

After an entire evening of cross country practice, you were finally let go. Somehow Chaeyoung convinced you to stay for the whole thing even though you're not on the team, but still. People like to say you're 'fast', but you don't believe them. The only reason why you were running faster than Chaeyoung is because you're petty. Dangerously petty. It's your strongest trait. When challenged, you feel the need to win no matter what.

Chaeyoung made a bet that you couldn't run faster than her for at least a few seconds. Of course, your petty ass took her on and ran like Park Jimin was chasing you. It's safe to say you beat her for a few seconds. It wasn't by much, but enough that Chae and her cross country friends were impressed. Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo. Those are her three cross country friends. They're honestly pretty cool people, they like you. Or at least, you think they do.

Now it's night, and Chaeyoung is going with them to a milkshake shop. They offered you to go with them, but truthfully, you're tired. Not only were you dancing but then you practiced in a sport you never played before just for fun. On the bright side, today's the only day where that'll happen. As Chae said: 'they're letting anyone run since it's the first day' or something like that.

You walk outside the track, smiling as the Moon shines down on you. The nature preserve is not too far away... maybe you should go visit it. That sounds like a lot of fun actually. Chaeyoung will be jealous, but you'll take some pictures for her so she doesn't feel left out.

"Y/N!"

You jump, turning and looking to see a short, brown-haired boy running towards you. Really? Seriously? Is he the only boy in this school? Are there no others who can bother you? "Jimin?" you ask in disbelief. "Hey," he greets, slowing to a stop in front of you. He's wearing a black hoodie now, his brown hair all fluffy and messed up from basketball practice.

"Did practice just end for you?" He nods, "yeah, what are you doing here so late? Didn't you leave hours ago?" You point to the track, "Chaeyoung convinced me to run some laps with her." "Let me guess: some turned into a lot?" You sigh, "as much as it kills me to say this... yep, you're right." He smirks, "oh I'm sorry, could you say that again?" "Nope. Bye, I'm going home." "To your dorm, you mean?" You shrug, "same thing."

Your feet move on their own, walking away from him. "Wait! Hang on!" he calls, rushing up to you. You reluctantly stop and turn to face him. "Yes?" He pauses, clearly not expecting to get this far. "I uh... let me walk you home." "Why?" "Because it's night, no lady should have to walk home alone." Your heart melts at his offer, but you know that you should say no. However, your mouth doesn't care about what your mind says.

"Sure."

He bounces up and down, clearly celebrating his victory. "Thank you," he whispers as the two of you walk. It's silent for the first few minutes, the two of you not sure what to talk about. But... Jimin finds something. "You dance and you didn't tell me?" You sigh. Yeah, you figured that would come up eventually.

"I've danced for the past couple years. All throughout high school. I didn't think I was that good so... I didn't really want to say I liked it and have us have a dance off or something." Jimin smiles, "maybe we should, you hit some good moves." You stop in your tracks, him doing the same. "Wha-" "You were watching me?!" you yelp. He goes still, turning pink. "Uhh... a little. I stole some glances, I had practice so I wasn't like, watching-" "You were watching me," you interrupt, blinking at him.

He sighs, "a little." "A little?" "Okay a lot!" he admits, letting out a huff, "I couldn't help it, I wasn't kidding. You hit some good moves." You softly smile, getting a little shy. "Thanks..." He lights up, "you're welcome. And no, I won't challenge you to a dance off. We won't do anything you're not comfortable with." You let out a breath of relief, "good."

Together, the two of you start walking again, simply enjoying being in each other's presence. You like him being by your side and you don't know why. He's strangely interesting. "Writing," you mutter. He looks at you, "huh?" "I love to write," you clarify. "I always have, that's another reason why I have the goal book, so I always have something to write. There's no such thing as too many goals. At least, that's what my father always said."

He smiles, "it seems like you take a lot from your parents." You think of your mom's smiling face. Your high school graduation, when she handed you a small charm you always carry with you. 'Whenever you feel sad, look at this and think of me'. "They're strong, I want to be just like them." "Well, if they raised someone like you, I have no doubt that they're good people." You laugh, "you don't even know me."

Jimin slows to a stop with you, his hand landing on your shoulder. You freeze at the contact, then meet his eyes. "I know enough," he whispers, his gaze never leaving you. The two of you stare, naturally leaning closer. His hand travels to your neck, gently brushing his thumb across the skin there. "Were you serious?" he whisper-asks. "About?" He softly smiles, "me finding you someone... a date?"

You keep your eyes on him as you nod. "I was." He clearly wants to say something, but he can't find the words. After a few beats of silence, he sighs. "Okay... then I'll help you." You want to reply but your tongue doesn't let the words pass, just like how Jimin couldn't speak mere seconds ago.

The two of you stay still, and you don't even realize how close you were getting until his forehead presses against yours. "We should get home, it's late," you interrupt, moving back. His hand falls off your neck, and even in this dim lighting you can see his pink cheeks. "Yeah... you're right." You nod, straightening out your clothes before starting the walk again.

He walks with you, this time completely silent and not daring to utter a word. It's weird having him so tense. Just a few minutes ago, the silence was nice. It was like the two of you were enjoying each other's company, but now, it's awkward. Were you two close to kissing? No, no that's impossible. It's been less than twenty four hours. Granted, people have hooked up after knowing each other for minutes, but still. This seems... ridiculous. Might as well get to know him, right?

"Can I have the skincare routine please?" you suddenly ask. He slightly jumps at the sound of your voice, then relaxes. "I'll send you a list." "Really?" He smiles, "oh yeah, I know a lot about skincare. Although I'd say your skin is perfect just the way it is." You blink. Did you hear him correctly? You almost trip over your own feet, but you manage to regain your balance. "You uh... really think so?" He nods, "really. You're pretty." Okay what the fuck? Didn't you tell him no over the top flirting? Or maybe he's just being nice. He's not smirking or winking or touching you, he's... speaking. Ugh this is frustrating.

"You're pretty too," you whisper, causing him to break out into a grin. "Really?" "Really," you confirm, nodding. The two of you smile at each other for a few moments. He seems to let his gaze linger on you. Before you know it, the trek home is almost complete. You guide him to your dorm, walking up to the front door of the building and getting your university ID ready.

As soon as you unlock it, he opens the door for you. "Goodnight Jimin, I'll see you tomorrow in bio?" you question, and he nods. "Yeah... goodnight." "Thank you for walking me home." He smiles, "no problem, I... can I walk you home every night?" Although you want to blush at the question, you simply hum. "I'd like that." You don't move for a few seconds, keeping your eyes on his. He seems to sense the tension between the two of you, seeing as he sighs. "Y/N, I have something to tell you." You raise a brow, "what is it?" He bounces on the balls of his feet. "I know it's only been a day but... I don't know I think I li-" "Excuse me? It's getting late can you please come inside!"

You sigh, looking at the girl sitting behind the front desk. "Tell me tomorrow?" He gulps, "right. Tomorrow." "Goodnight Jimin." He takes a moment, then sighs. "Goodnight Y/N, have sweet dreams for me, okay?" You hum, "only if you do the same for me." If you stand there another second you know you'll fall into his eyes, so you go inside, him closing the door behind you. And with that, the rest of the night consists of Jimin plaguing your thoughts...

~The Next Day~

"No. Nope. Never."

Chaeyoung frowns, "please?" "Not in a million years. It's our second day and you want to go over to their apartment? Is that not the biggest red flag in human history? Have you never seen a horror movie?" Chaeyoung sighs, "I know but... I don't know, Taehyung is cool." "Yeah, so is Jimin and Jungkook and Yoongi. Doesn't mean I trust them yet. They live in apartments, they're upperclassmen. We live in crappy dorms." "Exactly why we should go see what it's like!"

Although you really don't want to go, you know she'll go with or without you. And what kind of friend would you be if you let her go alone? "I'll only go on one condition." "What?" she asks excitedly. "We tell someone where we're going and we're careful. I'm bringing my pepper spray." She squeals, "deal deal deal, thank you so much!" "Don't thank me yet. Only thank me if we don't get kidnapped."

Most young adults nowadays have this thing called 'trust issues', you like to think you're one of the few who doesn't. You have no problem trusting people, but you're not stupid. You're not going to trust someone after knowing them for a day. As much as you like Jimin, you don't trust him for a second. Remember the first goal. Do not fall for him. That's the #1 goal here. He's still a playboy. A big one. Getting your heart smashed into pieces isn't in your goal book.

Chaeyoung starts getting ready for the day, throwing on her favorite blouse and jeans. Meanwhile you just sit there, unsure of what to do. You know what? How about you keep it simple. Black jeans and a white sweater. Plain, sure, but cute. "I get off of cross country at eight, is that the same for dance?" "I appreciate the confidence, but I haven't made the team yet," you cheekily reply, zipping up your jeans.

She laughs, "oh please, you told me about your instructor. She said herself that you had a high chance." "Key word: chance. I'm confident as hell, but not that confident. Let's not jinx anything." You're not superstitious or anything like that, but you also don't want to be over confident. If you walk in there expecting to make it your heart will be shattered. Pretty much you do what you have to do to avoid getting your heart broken. That's the last thing you need.

"Alright, if you make the team, meet me outside at eight, okay?" You hum, "okay." With that, the two of you pack your bags and get ready for the day. You look at your goal book, holding it close to your chest. She glances at it but doesn't pry, nodding before opening the door. Time for the thing you hate most... class.

~~~
Jimin bites his nails, looking at the ground. Great, just great. Today's going wonderful. It's been a whopping ten minutes since he's woken up and he can't stop thinking about her. She was the last thought before he went to bed, and the first when he woke up. What the fuck?
His little goal book is open on his desk, his eyes meeting the paper. 1) Do not fall for Y/N L/N. His own goal, and he's already failed. He failed his very first goal. With a huff he stands, walking over and grabbing his pen. It's the erasable kind, so it's easy enough to get rid of the first goal. He wants to. Jimin keeps the back of the eraser on the page, ready to get rid of goal #1, but for some reason, he can't.
"No," he mutters, dropping the pen and shaking his head. He groans, placing both his hands on his head. What's wrong with him? One damn day. One day is all it took for him to act like this. If this is how he is now, imagine a week from now. A month from now. Two months. A damn year.
No
He can't let that happen. After Dahyun, he vowed to take time away from dating. She shattered him into pieces and spit on his grave. The last thing he needs is a repeat. He thinks for a few moments, then, his eyes widen. That's it. The perfect way to get her off his mind.
Jimin smirks, grabbing the pen and erasing the first goal to replace it with something new. Pretty much the same thing, just worded differently. What he's feeling is lust, not love. No, it can't be love. It's just lust for someone really pretty. Someone who can keep up with him, make him smile and laugh, make him feel like he can show his vulnerable side to her.
He sighs. Shit this isn't helping. Regardless, the ink hits the paper, and the new first goal is written out. It's just lust, that's all it is. And when lust is this strong, there's only one way to get rid of it. Jimin smirks at the notebook, closing it before walking out of his room. Tae greets him, and he greets him back, but his mind is focused on his new goal.
1) Sleep with Y/N. Sleep with her as soon as possible.
A/N: I'm sure we all know where this is going-
I really love writing them as like the awkward kids lol - Jimin's like: haha you're pretty *shy face*
Y/n: Really? Well uh you're pretty too *shy*
Jimin: oh... thanks :) *still shy af*
Like the amount of times they said 'really' this chapter- please that's so cute and awkward.
