Belle arrived at the hospital where she was interning rather early, most likely one of the first to arrive, she didn't stop to ask for directions and she didn't stop to look around, all because she knew the way to the hospital like the back of her hand from all the trips she'd made in the past and all the nights she'd spent by her father's bedside.

Sighing in anticipation, the only female Dawson child stepped out of her car and began walking towards the entrance, a turmoil of emotions flashing through her, fear, anticipation, worry, longing and happiness.

Belle and her 2 eldest brothers had followed in their parents' footsteps, Remus becoming a military doctor and James becoming a pediatrician, meaning they followed medicine, since both their parents were doctors, their father a plastic surgeon and their mother a non-specialized surgeon. Unfortunately Belle's father's surgeon life came to an end when he was diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer when she was 3 years old and it came to a complete end when she and her twin brother were 8, James being 13 and Remus being 15, in 1988.

The Dawson's stayed in Seattle for 4 more years before they moved to London in 1992, until Belle decided to leave London and return to Seattle for her residency.

Belle wandered around the Hospital until she saw it was time to join the rest of the new residents, they all gathered around the front of one of the O.R.'s as they heard the director say "Each of you comes here hopeful. Wanting in on the game. A month ago you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today, you are the doctors. The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five of you will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play? That's up to you."

The director leading the interns inside as she spoke before leading them to their shared locker room, where everyone changed into their blue scrubs, "Okay. Martin, Robinson, Bond, Parkins." A doctor called out while everyone finished getting ready, "Only six women out of twenty, how's this acceptable?" Belle couldn't help but comment to the Korean woman next to her, "Yeah. I hear one of them's a model. Seriously, like that's going to help with the respect thing?" The Korean woman replied making Belle nod as she pulled her straight red hair into a neat ponytail.

"You're Cristina, right?" Belle inquired as she racked her brain for the names and faces of the people she had met at the mixer for the interns a while back, the Korean woman nodded and pulled her own hair back as she inquired "Which resident you assigned to? I got Bailey." "Same, I hear they call her the Nazi." Belle replied, laughing slightly under her breath at the nickname.  "You got the Nazi? So did I. At least we'll be tortured together, right? I'm George O'Malley, uh, we met at the mixer, you had a black off-shoulder jumpsuit and black strap heeled sandals." A young man, George O'Malley, stated, introducing and making a fool of himself in the process.

Seeing as the two women shared a look he quickly muttered "Now you think I'm gay." To which the Korean woman hummed before walking away from him, leaving Belle behind with George, who attempted to clarify himself "No, I'm not gay, it's, ah, it's just that, you know, you were, I mean, you were very, unforgettable." his words were jumbled together making Belle smile and shake her head at him before a Doctor called out "O'Malley, Yang, Howard, Stevens."

The called interns all walked out of the locker room and towards the front desk, where a short, plump woman with an annoyed look on her face stood leaning against it, "That's the Nazi?" Christina inquired, rather shocked with the seemingly innocent looking woman, "I thought the Nazi would be a guy." George commented after her prompting Belle retort "Appearances deceive." Her words went through one ear of her fellow interns and flew out of the other before a blonde, model like female intern stated with hope in her tone "Maybe it's professional jealousy. Maybe she's brilliant, and they call her Nazi because they're jealous. Maybe she's nice."

This caused Christina to snort "Let me guess. You're the model." which in turn earned her a glare from the blonde doctor before she turned to their attending and extended her hand while smiling "Hi, I'm Isabel Stevens, but everyone calls me Izzie." The other three interns could already tell that their attending wasn't going to shake the blonde's hand, so they weren't shocked when Bailey merely looked Izzy up and down before stating "I have five rules. Memorise them. Rule number one, don't bother sucking up, I already hate you, that's not gonna change."

She then nods her head to the stuff on the desk while adding "Trauma protocol, phone lists, pagers. Nurses will page you, you answer every page at a run.  A run, that's rule number two." She continued to say as she walked away from the desk and began to walk away from the desk, leading the group of 4 to their next location "Your first shift starts now and lasts forty-eight hours. You're interns, runts, nobodies, bottom of the surgical food chain, you run labs, write orders, work every second night till you drop and don't complain!" she explained, walking across nearly half of the hospital until she opened a door to a room with a couple of bunk beds.

"On call rooms. Attendings hog them, sleep when you can, where you can, which brings me to rule number three, if I'm sleeping, don't wake me, unless your patient is actually dying. Rule number four, the dying patient better not be dead when I get there, not only would you have killed someone, you would have also woke me for no good reason, we clear?" She finished before looking at her interns, her eyes narrowing at Belle when she inquires "And what's the fifth?" The group looks from Bailey to Belle and then to Bailey again, awaiting her answer, however before she can reply her pager goes off making her say loudly "Rule number five. When I move, you move." Before dashing off, prompting the interns to rush after her, as not to lose her.
