Heartbeat

He had a heartbeat.

Touya could hear Yukito's heartbeat and this was enough for him to assure him he was real. Yue claimed that he was just a reflection, a purpose-made puppet, but Touya could hear his heartbeat.

He slightly shifted his fingers on Yukito's smooth white wrist. He was sleeping so soundly he couldn't catch the other boy's movements. When that gigantic teddy bear destroyed his house, Yue manipulated Yukito's memories, who now thought an earthquake was to blame. The Kinomotos decided to house him until his own home was habitable again.

Sakura was really worried about him and made sure to make him feel at ease and cheer him up. Touya smiled lightly. His little sister's crush didn't appear to weaken. He was sure she would have given him her own bed if he didn't cut her off, telling her that he would have slept in his room. She was a bit upset but was convinced thanks to a sweet word from Yuki. He always knew how to talk to her.

He sighed and watched his body, touched by moonbeams. That same moon that was his element, the source of his powers and life, and that was now draining him and making him disappear. Touya could not let it happen. He hated Yue with all his heart. How dared he say that Yukito was nothing but a creation? He could feel his heartbeat, he talked to him, he laughed. He was sleeping right next to him and the slight dip in the mattress was real enough to convince anybody that Yuki was there with him.
He wanted to caress his face and that hair that had the same colour as the moon. He wanted to feel the texture of his skin, how smooth and soft it was. He wanted to keep touching him and never leave him. He feared closing his eyes only to never see him again. If Yue couldn't find a magic source that was strong enough... He couldn't keep on reflecting Sakura's magic. She, too, was always exhausted and if she was to support Yue, she would have collapsed. Well, maybe he could...

"Touya," Yukito's voice broke the silence and brought Touya back, "you can't sleep?"

Kinomoto lightly shook his head.

"I'm sorry if I've woken you up," he whispered. Yuki shook his head and gifted him one of his usual smiles, one that was so sweet that could have melted everyone's heart.

Touya couldn't help himself and put a hand on his cheek. He was there, he was real, he could touch him. You're so beautiful, Yuki, he would have wanted to say. If only he had enough nerve to. He gently caressed his skin with his thumb and was thankful to see that he was not pulling back. They were just staring at each other, Touya could not withdraw from Yukito's eyes. He could see Yue's shadow in the back, his shadow that was trapped in Yuki's consciousness, but it was just a faraway echo.

He slipped an arm between the mattress and the boy's body, wrapping his waist. He could feel he was startled at first, but he relaxed right away. They were closer than before, than they had ever been. They had shared a lot of intimate contacts before. Touya had spoon-fed him, they often studied in that same room with their legs intertwined. During those last days, Yukito had often slept with his head on Touya's shoulder and a couple of times in his lap. They even slept in the same bed other times. Every time that Yuki stayed overnight at the Kinomoto's.

That time, however... that contact was even more intimate, more personal. At that moment they were the only people in the whole world. Yue and Clow Reed didn't exist anymore, there was no world to be saved. There were just two boys laying on a bed, staring at each other, lost in each other's eyes.

"Yuki..."

Touya's voice was nothing more than an almost inaudible whisper. Yuki's eyes lighted up a little, but he said nothing. He was waiting for Touya to speak, but nothing came out of his lips. He would have wanted to tell him so many things. He wanted to tell him that he didn't want to see him disappear. That he was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, that he wanted to hold him forever. That he would have gladly given his life and heart to keep him alive. That, in the end, his heart already belonged to him, that he loved him like he never thought was possible to love someone.

Yukito furrowed his brows and parted his lips to ask him if something was wrong, but Touya didn't let him. He slipped his hand from his cheek to his hair, which he intertwined with his fingers, and shifted his body closer to his own. He softly kissed Yuki's lips, not a millimetre was left between their bodies. He held his breath and didn't move a muscle for a couple of seconds, worried that Yukito could badly distance himself. When he felt his arms starting to wrap his back, however, and his hands cling to his pyjama, he could finally relax. He mustered his courage and deepened the kiss. Yukito happily accepted him, sighing a little. Touya decided to read it as satisfaction, as if he was waiting for this moment for a very long time. As much as him, after all.

When they parted - was it a matter of seconds or an eternity? - they stared at each other for a while. Yuki was even more beautiful with those blushing cheeks, lightly swollen lips and sparkling eyes. He surely would have wanted their first kiss to happen in a more romantic place and situation, but that moment seemed the perfect occasion. And if he couldn't find a way to save him, it would have been the last.
Yukito smiled and cuddled against Touya's chest, closing his eyes. Touya rested his chin on Yuki's head and hug him. He fixed his gaze on the moon as if he was fighting it.

Yukito was real. He could hear his heart beating against his chest. He could smell his scent, feel the heat of his body, the softness of his skin. That kiss was real, as much as his dark, sweet and kind eyes. And even if it isn't true, Touya thought, my love is real enough for both of us.
He held him a bit more tightly as if he was protecting him, paying attention not to hurt him. Yue could do whatever he wanted, as Clow Reed could. Touya was ready. He would have helped Sakura in any way he could and would have protected Yukito, even if it meant risking his own life.

Because Yukito was real, he could hear his heartbeat and taste him on his lips. Yue and Clow were just to try and take him away. They would have never been able to because Yuki didn't belong to either of them. Yuki is mine.

Hiya, everybody!
I'm so, so, so sorry if you've found some mistakes in my little story. English is not my first language and, even if I DO know it quite well, I'm not practical with translations. Especially if I have to translate one of my stories.

That being said, I really want to apologise for any mistakes you could have found in it. Just... point them out and I'll correct them.
Anyway, I'm really happy that you've chosen to read my story. I hope you've liked it and I want to thank you in advance if you decide to let me know you've appreciated this little thing.
Even if you just decide to read it without leaving a mark of your passage: thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Hope you liked it.
