"Best eyes?" Elizabeth stared down at the 'Hot or Not List' that Zach Dempsey had placed in front of her. "Who would put my name down?"

Zach let out a snort before pointing towards Justin, who lifted his hand, sheepishly. "You do have some really nice eyes, Jensen." Justin Foley smirked from his seat in the classroom.

"Shut up, Foley." Elizabeth's eyes lowered down the list and landed on best and worst ass. "Best ass : Hannah Baker. Worst ass : Jessica Davis." She whispered to herself before looking back up at Zach. "Alex wrote that? Isn't he dating Jessica?"

"Was." Zach corrected her. "They broke up."

"Shit." She sighed, rolling her eyes. "Well this is sexist and seriously messed up."

"I know." Justin smiled as he stood up. "If I were you, I'd go straight to the problem."

"I mean, mine's not that bad, but Hannah and Jessica's? What the hell was Alex thinking." Elizabeth frowned as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Hannah's going to be more than upset about this."

"Well, maybe you and I could talk about it sometime over coffee?" Justin moved closer to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder's.

"Why the fuck would I ever go to coffee with you?" Elizabeth scoffed as she pushed him away. "You're a complete douche." Justin shrugged as he walked away. Elizabeth frowned before shaking her head, chuckling. She sat down at her desk before the teacher started talking.

"So, today we are going to jump into social learning theory." The teacher spoke as she wrote the subject on the chalkboard. "The theory is that people learn by observing the behavior of those around them. Can anybody give me an example of this?" No one spoke up or even raised their hands. "Clay?"

"Uh- yeah." Elizabeth's brother stuttered out. "An example would be like slang." The teacher nodded. "If somebody starts saying one word, eventually everybody's saying it."

"Very good! So, one person's opinion or bias can influence the rest of the group." The teacher continued with her lecture to the class. "This theory can be applied to criminal behavior." Elizabeth watched as Alex's list got handed to Hannah. She sighed. That would not end well. "If a young person's friends or family participate in deviant acts, that young person is more likely to do the same."

After that, Elizabeth stopped listening to her teacher and focused on her best friend. Hannah looked around, obviously embarrassed. People were giggling in their side conversations, looking at her. Justin leaned closer to Elizabeth, considering they sat next to each other. "There's nothing you could have done about that list, 'Liza." He spoke softly. "Don't beat yourself up about it. It's not your fault." She looked right into his eyes and nodded.

And there she was again, lost in Justin Foley's gorgeous blue eyes. They were the color of the ocean, like her own, but they were far more magnificent. Elizabeth smiled. Her smile faded though when she noticed the smirk across his lips. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Justin chuckled, leaning forward in his seat.

'You have beautiful eyes' was what Elizabeth wanted to say, but she couldn't get herself to do it.

Elizabeth just responded with a simple, "nothing", and looked back over at Hannah who stood up and threw the list into the trash can.

"Hannah, I need your seat in a chair." The teacher spoke sternly as Hannah looked around the room. Multiple classmates laughed, but Elizabeth frowned. She watched as Hannah sat back in her seat. Some idiotic basketball player had the audacity to get up, take the list out of the trash can and strike up a conversation with his friends about it.

Boys are such douchebags.

Elizabeth was sitting at a lunch table, waiting for Hannah to join her when she noticed someone sit down in front of her. It was Justin Foley. "Why won't you just leave me alone today, Foley?" Elizabeth rolled her eyes before shoving a spoonful of mashed potatoes into her mouth.

"Because I've been watching you lately, Jensen." He smiled as he opened his bottle of water. "You're beautiful and kind. I hadn't noticed before."

"So you thought I was an ugly bitch before." Elizabeth chuckled as she shook her head. "You're off to a great start."

"You know what I meant." Justin chuckled as well. He didn't know what it was about her. For some reason, he couldn't stop thinking about her. "I want to get to know you more."

"Like you got to know my best friend?" Elizabeth frowned as she stuck her knife into her cranberry sauce. "I think you remember her, Hannah Baker? She's also a really nice and a beautiful girl, but you didn't care."

"Liza-"

"Stop it, Justin." Elizabeth furrowed her eyebrows as she stood up. "I'm not going out with you, so why don't you just stop trying so hard. It's never gonna happen." She left the table, threw her lunch away and walked off to her next class of the day.

Elizabeth walked through the halls of Liberty High before walking into an angry Hannah Baker. "Where are you going?" Elizabeth asked her friend.

"To confront Alex." Hannah was seething. Elizabeth had never seen her that upset. "He's in the boy's locker room. Come with me."

"What?" Elizabeth squeaked before Hannah grabbed her wrist and dragged her to the boy's locker room.

Hannah entered the room, and shouted, "Alex? Alex Standall?" Multiple boys moved out of the way as the two girls entered the room. Elizabeth gasped as she covered her eyes, not expecting to see butt naked boys. "Alex, what the hell? What were you thinking?"

"Come on, girls." Zach showed up from around the corner. "You know you can't be in here."

"Why not?" Hannah frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. "You've all been staring at my ass all day." Elizabeth scoffed as she smiled at her best friend.

"Hey! Hey! Get out!" The coach shouted as he entered the locker room. "This is the boy's locker room."

Hannah rolled her eyes before looking back at Alex. "We're not done."

She left, sticking her middle finger high in the air, leaving Elizabeth, who was frozen with fear. "You're all- uh- looking- uh- very- um- toned." Elizabeth stuttered before quickly turning and leaving.

Elizabeth smiled as she heard a knocking at her window. She turned and saw Justin. She laughed as she unhinged the window and opened it. Justin climbed in, wrapping his arms around her waist. He placed a kiss on her forehead. "So what is this thing that you texted me about?"

"It's a costume contest." Elizabeth smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Halloween's coming up soon." Justin chuckled, nodded. "But, you actually have to be at school to be able to win."

"I will." Justin nodded, he moved away from her.

"I've heard that before."

"I promise."

"You promised you'd be there today." Elizabeth frowned, sitting on her bed.

"I just have a lot of shit going on at home, okay?" Justin sighed as he sat down next to her. "You know that." Elizabeth nodded as he took her hands in his. "Seth is back so it's just easier for me to stay at Bryce's. That's all."

"Should I be scared for this relationship, Justin?" It killed Justin as he watched a tear fall down her cheek.

He sighed as he wiped it away. "Never. You know how much I love you."

"I love you too." Elizabeth nodded as she looked into his eyes. She frowned, cocking her head to the side. "You know, you're eyes are super red. I would suggest eye drops, but I'm pretty sure you're stoned." Justin nodded cautiously. Elizabeth laughed before kissing him.

Elizabeth sat at her dinner table, waiting for her brother to get home. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed. The door opened and closed quickly, showing her twin brother entering the Jensen household. "Here he is." Lainie Jensen spoke softly as she moved the food on her plate around with her fork.

"Sorry I'm late." Clay spoke as he moved into the kitchen area, taking out his headphones. "I got- uh- a little distracted on the way home."

"That's been happening a lot lately." Elizabeth scoffed as she shuffled her feet around.

"You said you'd be here a half an hour ago." Their mother spoke again. "Where were you?"

Clay stumbled to the table, wiping his eyes. "Um- I was with a friend." The Jensen parents shared a look, not believing their son. "She was in trouble. I didn't believe her, so I checked it out and it was true. She was telling the truth."

"Clay, are you drunk?" Elizabeth blurted out before laughing.

Clay narrowed his eyes before nodding. "I think so."

"Wow, this is escalating fast." Matt Jensen chuckled as he ate his peas.

"You've never done anything like this before." It was obvious Lainie was frustrated with clay. "Now, if it was Eliza, I wouldn't be so upset."

"Hey!" Elizabeth chuckled, raising her hands in defense.

Their mother rolled her eyes before continuing. "Drinking on a school night? Riding your bike drunk?"

"I'm sorry about that." Clay sighed as he rubbed his forehead. "I'm really sorry."

"How much did you drink, son?" Matt intervened, suddenly interested.

"Just one beer." Clay shook his head. "It was a big beer, though, and it was disgusting."

"Alright, enough." Lainie stopped them. "You're grounded. For the next two weeks, you'll go straight to school and come straight home afterwards, no activities, no hanging out with friends."

"Okay, before we get to the sentencing phase-" Matt interrupted his wife, "let's all just sit down and eat dinner."

"That's a good idea." Elizabeth nodded as she shoved peas into her mouth.

"Clay, you need some food and water in you." Matt continued on with his speech. "Then we can talk about-"

"I'm not that hungry, actually." Clay frowned. "I think I'm just gonna- uh- go up to my- uh- room."

Clay then, suddenly, threw up all over the entire dinner table. Elizabeth let out an "Ew," as she jumped up from her seat, moving away from the table.

He looked up at them and sighed. "Sorry."

"Who gets drunk off of one fucking beer?" Justin asked Zach as the two of them played video games in Bryce's pool house. They were reminiscing of just an hour ago when they forced Clay Jensen to drink a beer.

"Well, you can if it's a 40." Zach retorted, focusing on his video game. "And if you chug it. And if you're that small."

"And if you're a fucking pussy." Justin chuckled.

"That's your girlfriend's brother." Zach furrowed his eyebrows before shaking his head. "But yeah, maybe he is a pussy, but he can make a whole fuck load of trouble for us and especially you right now. Especially if he starts talking to Bryce or Eliza."

"He's not gonna talk Bryce, his sister, or anyone." Justin got up to get a cracker. "He can't hide behind tony forever. Sooner or later, we're going to bring him out into the open and shut him down because Eliza can't know anything. She's everything I have. I can't lose her."
