53.0 The One Where Bad Shit Happens No Matter What
Clay Jensen approached Justin Foley and Elizabeth Jensen after being cleared by security to enter Liberty High School. He had noticed they had installed security cameras all over the school. "What the fuck with all the cameras? They're everywhere. Look." He stated, pointing to multiple cameras pointed at the same hallway.
Justin shrugged. "It's probably just for the vandalism, right?"
"I don't think so." Elizabeth shook her head as she noticed ten other cameras around the hallways. "They didn't put any up after Tyler and Cyrus burned the baseball field, and that was way fucking worse than this."
"Okay, but most high schools have security cameras now."
The Jensen twins furrowed their eyebrows at Justin. How was he being so completely calm about the cameras? "This is different. Something's up." Clay shook his head frantically as he looked around the hallways. "They know something."
Justin raised an eyebrow at Elizabeth. "I said, I think it was because of the vandalism, not because they know anyone. And besides, Clay's been spiraling for weeks. This is nothing new."
"Yeah, dude, you've got to stop." Justin crossed his arms over his chest.
Clay stopped walking, turning to face his two friends. "No, the two of you have been ignoring shit in your little "we're happy, we're fucking" bubble, but something is wrong."
Elizabeth's eyes widened as she snorted. "We're happy, we're fucking what?"
Her brother just rolled his eyes in response as his phone began to buzz. "This is the third time this morning." Justin sighed. "Are you going to answer it?"
"It's just a robocall." Clay answered quickly without even thinking.
"Why don't you just block the-"
Elizabeth went to grab Clay's phone but he gripped her wrist tightly, stopping her. "They're calling from different numbers." Clay snapped at his sister, tightening his grip.
"Clay, you're hurting me."
Clay immediately let go when he heard those words come out of her mouth, and Elizabeth brought her hand to her chest, rubbing her wrist. Justin wrapped his arms around his girlfriend, rubbing her back. "Why is a robocall freaking you out?" He questioned him.
The boy opened his mouth to answer, but nothing came out. He let out a sigh before looking down. "I've got to get to class." He left the two alone in the hallway.
"What the actual fuck what that about?" Elizabeth grumbled as she looked down at her wrist.
"Are you okay?" Justin questioned her as they walked towards her locker.
She nodded in response. She noticed above her locker was a poster for the Valentine's Day 'Love Is Love' dance, and she smiled. "Did you want to go?" She opened her locker and shoved her backpack into it, just taking out the specific books she needed. "I mean, our first 'official' date was on Valentine's Day, considering the dance wasn't a date, so..."
Justin looked up at the poster and nodded. "Fuck yeah, I want to go with you."
"Great." She giggled, pressing a kiss against Justin's cheek. "I would say pick me up at seven, but we live in the same house."

Elizabeth sat between Isabel and Jessica during the HO meeting in the basement. "I'm just saying, I do think there's a thing where the cameras make it safer around here." Jessica stated as she folded some pink paper to make hearts.
"It's an invasion of privacy." Ani spoke from the opposite end of the table.
Jessica nodded. "Yeah, okay, but maybe it'll stop bad shit from happening."
Elizabeth shook her head. "Bad shit is going to happen no matter what. There's no stopping the bad shit."
The girl chuckled as she looked down at her papers. "And, speaking of safety, I was actually thinking, what if we went to the dance tomorrow as a group?" Ani was the only girl who responded in any way. She nodded. The rest of the girls just sent awkward looks to each other. Isabel was staring down at her lap.
"Strength in numbers." Jessica smiled. "And it sends a good message, you know? We don't have to wait around for some guy to ask us on a date, right? WHo's with me?"
Elizabeth puckered her lips awkwardly before speaking. "I actually told Justin I wanted to go, so no waiting around for some guy for me."
No one else in the group spoke up, and continued to stare nervously at each other. Jessica's eyebrows furrowed. "Wait, you guys all have dates?" The girls just went back to folding papers. Isabel still had not looked up from her lap. "I mean, no, that's good for you guys." She nodded and frowned, looking down at the table. "Sick."
Ani approached Jessica and leaned on the area of the table next to her. "I don't have a date. Wanna go together?"
The Jensen girl's eyes widened as she began to giggle. "Did Clay fail as a boyfriend and not ask you?"
"He's not interested, apparently." Ani spoke, rolling her eyes.
"I'm sorry, dude." Elizabeth patted Ani's shoulder.
Jessica rested her hands on the table before speaking. "This is all so messed up. I'm the fucking president of the school. I'm a female powerhouse, and I can't even get a fucking date." She scoffed. "Boys suck."
"You're right." Isabel finally spoke up, meeting Jessica's gaze. "I'll go with you guys. I don't have a date, either."

Justin Foley approached Zach Dempsey at his locker. "Dude, where have you been? I've left you, like, six messages."
Zach rolled his eyes, not looking up from his locker. "Sorry, I have just been so busy." He was obviously being sarcastic, because he droned out the word 'so'.
"Chloe called Eliza."
Zach finally looked up at Justin. "Why?"
"Because she's worried about you, and Eliza told her you weren't talking to her." Justin answered, stepping closer towards Zach. "Chloe said you weren't returning her calls either, so should I be worried about you, too?"
"I didn't tell her shit, if that's what you're worried about." Zach snapped at Justin.
"It isn't." Justin shook his head.
"I can't tell anybody anything. Ever. So, we good?" He asked before slamming his locker shut.
Justin sighed, looking around. "You can tell me."
Zach let out a scoff, walking away from the Foley boy. "Justin, since when do you give a shit for anyone except your fucking girlfriend?"
Justin followed closely behind Zach before speaking again. "Look, there's this workshop- uh- this afternoon with the whole team. You-" Justin paused as he cut Zach off by stepping in front of him. "You should come by."
"What for?" Zach shrugged, pushing Justin's shoulder lightly. "You're the captain now, bud."
"I'm just co-captain, and it's just to help Charlie out." Justin shook his head and moved to try and stop Zach from leaving. "Also, you know Kerba made us." Zach rolled his eyes, trying to push Justin out of his way, but Justin stood his ground. "Zach, I wouldn't even be on this team if it weren't for you taking the time to give a shit about me when I needed it." Justin furrowed his eyebrows. "And, I'm really sorry about everything that happened between you, me, and Eliza. I never should have let it come in between any of our friendships."
Zach looked down at the ground and nodded. "Fine. I'll be there."

Members of HO stood in the boy's locker room, speaking to the football team before one of their practices. "Look, I don't have to tell you guys that you set an example for how boys at this school behave." Jessica began her speech. "I don't have to tell you-"
"Then don't tell us." She was cut off by Luke Holliday, which caused members of the football team to laugh.
Charlie St. George glared at Luke. "Dude, come on. Show some respect."
Luke shrugged. "What? She said she couldn't tell us anything we don't already know."
"Well, considering you don't know shit, Luke, you might wanna rethink that." Diego Torres spoke up from his seat in front of Jessica. The room erupted in laughter. Diego whistled to try and get them to quiet down. "Guys! Everybody just shut the hell up, and listen to the lady." Elizabeth cringed when Diego called Jessica a lady.
Jessica rolled her eyes before continuing with what she had been saying before. "What I can tell you is this. Courage on the field doesn't mean shit unless you have the courage to stand up to each other when you're being fucking dicks. Or when you're bragging about that hot chick you were banging last night." She made direct eye contact with Diego. "Or calling us 'lady' like you're a gentleman, but really, you're just trying to diminish us." Elizabeth chuckled under her breath, meeting Justin's gaze. He was smirking at her. "Standing up to that kind of bullshit, that's what it means to be a man."
When Jessica finished her speech, the boys started exiting the locker room, but they to take a flyer from one of the girls from HO. "Of course, I'm taking her to the dance. She fucking wants it." Luke laughed as he played with the football in his hand.
"Luke, buddy, come on."
Diego started to push Luke out of the room, but Luke stopped right next to Jessica. "I mean, she consents to wanting it." He spoke before leaving.
"What a fucking dick." Elizabeth rolled her eyes as she felt Justin's arms wrap around her waist. She smiled as he pressed a kiss against her cheek.
He looked up at Jessica and smiled. "You were awesome, Jess. As usual."
"Thanks." She returned the smile as a random football player came up to her.
"Hey, Jess. You looked great up there." The boy chuckled, pushing his hair behind his ear. "Are you going to the dance?"
Jessica's eyes widened in panic. "Yeah, I'm going." She looked around the room and say Charlie talking to Elizabeth and Justin. "Charlie!" She practically shouted, causing all three of them to look over at her.
"What?"
"Me and Charlie are going to the dance." Jessica stated, raising her eyebrows at Charlie.
"We- uh-" Charlie looked completely confused as he glanced between everyone standing in front of him. "What?"
Jessica nodded frantically, trying to get him to understand. "Yeah, we talked about it, remember?" As the random football player looked over at Charlie, she motioned towards him with her head.
"No." Charlie shook his head. "But..." He looked down at Elizabeth and Justin, who both simply nodded at him. "Okay- uh- yeah. Great."
"Great." Jessica smiled, but glared with her eyes.
The football player sighed, walking away. Jessica grabbed onto Ani's hand and pulled her out of the locker room, leaving Justin and Elizabeth alone with Charlie. "Shit. I don't even know that the fuck just happened." Charlie spoke with wide eyes. "Should I tell her that I can't go?" His face became serious for a moment. "I'm just- uh- really afraid of her."
Elizabeth let out a laugh. "Just go, dude." She smiled at him.
"You sure?" The two nodded in response. "I was kind of hoping the two of you would tell me not to."
Elizabeth chuckled, and patted his shoulder. "Good luck." She spoke as Justin grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the locker room. He brought her into an empty closet, closing the door behind them and locking it. "Why are we in here?"
"I just wanted some alone time with my girlfriend." Justin smiled before pressing his lips against Elizabeth's neck. She giggled when it tickled, and felt Justin's hands land on her waist. He pushed her up against the wall and pulled away from her. "Fuck, you're beautiful." Elizabeth smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down to meet her lips.
