52.0 The One With Amanda The Tour Guide

"I just don't think you should skip the tour. It's mandatory." Justin Foley spoke to Clay Jensen as him and his girlfriend walked hand in hand through the parking lot of Liberty High School.

Clay scoffed. "Since when does the word 'mandatory' mean anything to you?"

Elizabeth Jensen looked up at her boyfriend. "What Clay meant to say but failed to was that our dad's been teaching at Sanderson since we were eight years old. We know the whole campus."

"But this is about going to school there." Justin explained himself. "Maybe you might do that, Clay."

"No." Clay frantically shook his head. "That would make my dad too happy. And it's too close to home. I need to get out of this town."

"And why are you looking at Sanderson when we have Occidental?" Elizabeth furrowed her eyebrows as she spoke.

Justin shrugged. "I'm not in yet." He, then, smiled. "Plus, I like the idea of Sanderson being so close to home."

The girl laughed as she stopped walking. "Aren't you the same person who said college is for people who couldn't get a job?"

Justin chuckled, nodding. "I didn't think I was good enough. I didn't think I deserved a future before." Elizabeth frowned as she took his hand and kissed it before the three started walking towards the school again.

"Wait, wait, wait." Clay's eyes widened. "You never thought you were good enough? You were always such an arrogant asshole."

"Clay doesn't mean that."

"Yes, I do."

Justin sighed. "Yeah. Those are probably related."

They stepped into the line to go through the metal detector to enter the school. When they reached the front, all three were cleared, so they took back their backpacks. They noticed a crowd of students standing in the hallway, and Justin pushed through to the front with Elizabeth and Clay close behind him. Elizabeth froze when she saw what everyone was staring at. Someone had spray painted 'Monty Was Framed' on the entrance into the school office. "Don't freak out." Justin whispered to Clay, who was staring at the paint.

"Why not?" Clay questioned, not taking his eyes off the doors.

Elizabeth looked over at Alex Standall and Jessica Davis, who were also looking at the paint. "What the fuck?" Alex whispered. "Who did this?"

"No fucking idea." Jessica responded.

Zach showed up behind the pair. "Holy shit, the admin doors." He chuckled, leaning his hand against the wall. "Respect."

"Do you know who did this?" The girl snapped at Zach.

"Nah." He shook his head. "But they've got balls."

Jessica groaned, turning back towards the doors. "We're so fucked!"

"Yeah." Zach laughed, nodding. He left Jessica and Alex.

"He wouldn't have done that, right?" Jessica questioned her best friend. "No matter how fucked up he's been?"

"No." Alex shook his head.

"Then who?"

Alex looked into the crowd of people before his eyes landed on Estella De La Cruz speaking to members of the football team. "What about her?"

"I don't think so." Jessica frowned. "She's in HO. She knows who Monty really was."

"Yeah," Alex shrugged, "but he was still her brother."

Elizabeth watched as Principal Bolan, Sheriff Diaz, and a few other police officers stepped out of the office. "Okay, folks, let's get going to class now. I know you're all concerned about this." He motioned to the spray paint on the doors. "It's a real violation. We're going to find out who did it. Trust me on this." Tyler Down began taking pictures of Principal Bolan, and Bolan's eyebrows raised. "Mr. Down."

"Sorry." Tyler sighed, setting down his camera.

"Well, that's alright." The principal turned to the sheriff. "It could probably be very helpful if you just shared the photographs with the sheriff here."

"Yeah?" Tyler asked, putting his camera into his backpack. "I mean, of course."

Principal Bolan turned to the rest of the students in the hall. "All right, everybody, go back to class. Thank you."

Jessica Davis and Isabel Henry stood in the janitor's closet in the high school, kissing each other. Isabel's hands were on Jessica's waist, pulling her closer towards her, and Jessica's hands were in Isabel's hair. Jessica smiled as she pulled away, and Isabel groaned, trying to pull her back towards her. "You're too cute."

"And you're a tease."

"We've got to get to class." Jessica wiggled her eyebrows as she swung her backpack over her should.

Isabel grabbed onto Jessica's hand as she reached for the door. "Actually- uh- I wanted to talk about something first?"

Jessica nodded, setting her backpack down on the ground. "What's up?"

"So, we've been doing this for like, what, a couple weeks now? And we have been close for like over a month?"

"Yeah, I think so. Why?"The girl looked down at the ground and shifted her weight awkwardly. Jessica let out a giggle as she cupped Isabel's cheeks, bringing her eyes up to meet her own. "Just spit it out, cutie."

Isabel smiled at the pet name. "Do you want to like tell our friends about this?" Jessica's eyes widened as the question left Isabel's lips. "I mean, not really anyone here knows I'm gay, but I'm out."

Jessica sighed. "This is the first time that I've really ever done anything like this." Isabel nodded in response. "I didn't even really know that what I was feeling for girls were more than friendships until you came along." Jessica bit her lip before continuing. "I just don't know how people are going to react when I come out, I guess. I mean, people already hate me because of my stance on Jock culture and sexual assault. I don't want to add to that by coming out as gay."

The girl wanted to argue, saying that most people would have a very kind response, but she did not want to Jessica to feel as if she was pressuring her in any way. She would never want to pressure her. She simply nodded. "Yeah. I get that."

"Really?" Isabel nodded again in response. "Thank you, Isa." Jessica pressed her lips against Isabel's before pulling away quickly. "I'll see you later, okay?" Isabel watched the girl leave the closet, and felt a tear run down her cheek. She quickly wiped it away being putting on her own backpack and leaving.

Elizabeth stood next to Justin as he looked around in awe at the Sanderson campus. She giggled at his excitement. He looked down at her and raised an eyebrow. "You're cute when you're excited."

"You're cute all the fucking time." Justin smiled, pulling his girlfriend into his arms. She hugged him back, taking in the scent of his cologne. "You know, I could rea lly see us going here?"

"Yeah?" She stated, setting her chin on his chest to look up at him. The boy nodded as he pecked a kiss on her nose. "I want to go whoever you want to, okay?"

Justin's smile widened as he caught a glimpse of Matt Jensen talking with Clay and Ani. "Let's go say hi to your dad." He spoke, dragging Elizabeth towards the group of three. "How beautiful is this place." Justin chuckled as he wrapped his arm around Elizabeth. "I mean, I can't believe I've lived in Evergreen this entire time, and I've never been here."

"Listen, I hope you guys don't mind, but I arranged a meeting with the Dean of Admissions after the tour." Matt spoke to his kids.

"Thanks, dad." Elizabeth stated, leaning against her boyfriend.

Justin's smile grew even wider. "That's awesome."

Matt had noticed his son had not said anything. "How does that sound, Clay?"

Ani smacked her boyfriend's shoulder, sending him out of his daze. "Uh- yeah, that sounds great."

Principal Bolan approached the group. "Hi, thank you so much for hosting."

"My pleasure, Gary." Matt nodded.

"Gary?" Elizabeth giggled under her breath to Justin. "Why are they on first name basis?" Justin chuckled quietly in response.

"I thought I might join you on the first few stops, sir." Matt continued.

The Principal placed his hand on Matt's arm, starting to drag his away from the teenagers. "I just wanted to continue our discussion for a minute." The adults left the students alone.

Elizabeth and Justin moved back into the hoard of teenagers as a leader of the tour began to speak. "Two groups, please! Two groups!" She called out as the students began to split in two different lines.

Throughout the tour, Justin had made his way up to the front of the group, while Elizabeth hung in the back with Ani, Jessica, and Isabel. "Greek life is a huge part of our campus her at SU." The tour guide spoke from the front of the pack. "I am proud to call myself a part of the Greek community. It's truly one of the most rewarding experiences of college." Elizabeth rolled her eyes as the girl continued to speak. "One of my favorite parts of sorority life is the service projects we support ever semester. Last year, we did a bikini carwash to raise money for a local food shelter." The tour guide spoke, turning and sending a wink towards Justin. She had spent the entire tour flirting with him.

Elizabeth furrowed her eyebrows as Jessica grabbed onto her hand to try and calm her down. "Woah." Elizabeth growled through her teeth.

"Go walk with him." Ani suggested. "Maybe then she'll stop flirting with him."

The girl shook her head. "I'm not a front of the group kind of person." She sighed. "I like to stay here in the middle where no one can really notice me."

"It might work." Jessica chuckled, causing Elizabeth to send her a glare. "I'm just saying, go up there and protect your man."

"Justin can protect himself." Elizabeth rolled her eyes as she watched as the tour guide laughed and touched Justin's arm. "Alright, if she touches him one more time, I swear to god, I will murder her."

"Good for you, honey." Jessica giggled as her and Ani sped up, leaving Isabel and Elizabeth a little further back in the group.

Elizabeth had noticed Isabel had not been as talkative as she normally was, and she was concerned. "You okay, dude?" She questioned her friend.

Isabel nodded. "Yeah." She looked up at Jessica, down at the ground, and then back up at Elizabeth. "If I tell you something, will you promise not to tell anyone?"

"Of course."

"Jessica and I are kind of together."

Elizabeth's eyes widened, not having expected her friend to say that. "Wait, what? You're-" Isabel nodded. "Holy shit, that's awesome. I'm really happy for the two of you. I know that Jessica has really been struggling to find herself, and I'm glad that she has you."

Isabel let out a sigh. "The thing is that I wanted to tell everyone, but she doesn't. She says that people are just going to hate her more than they already do if she says she's gay."

"I mean, I get why she's afraid of that, but I don't really think that she should worry about that. If you two are happy together, that's all that matters. Homophobes are fucking stupid."

"True." Isabel giggled. "I said I was fine with it, but I don't know."

Elizabeth crinkled her nose, thinking. "I think that you should just spend some time thinking about everything, and do whatever is going to make you and Jessica happy."

The tour guide, who Elizabeth has just learned that her name was Amanda, stopped walking as they walked through an outdoor passageway between two buildings. "The School of Architecture is house in one of the most significant buildings on campus."

Ani looked around the group and furrowed her eyebrows. "Do you guys know where Clay went?"

Jessica shook her head, as Isabel stared up at her, and Elizabeth stared over at Justin speaking to Amanda. Elizabeth could tell Justin was genuinely curious about the school, but Amanda was being far too friendly. She watched as Amanda giggled, and rested her hand on Justin's bicep. She frowned, and Jessica noticed. "Excuse me?" Jessica asked, raising her hand. "Amanda?" The girl nodded, turning her attention to the other four girls. "Yeah, so your website claims that Sanderson has a rate of sexual assault that's way below the normal average, but isn't it true that most claims are just adjudicated in private sessions with no transparency or legal responsibility?"

"Uh-" Amanda looked flustered as she shook her head. "I don't know."

Elizabeth let out a chuckle. "Well, as a woman on campus, I think that is some pretty good information for you to know, especially considering you're a tour guide. Why don't you find that out?" Justin sent her a look of disapproval, and she simply shrugged.

When the tour had ended, Elizabeth and Isabel stood in the group of students waiting for an adult to tell them what to do when Justin grabbed her wrist and pulled her away. "What the fuck was that earlier?"

"What do you mean?" Elizabeth chuckled, raising an eyebrow.

"When you and Jessica completely embarrassed Amanda.

The girl shrugged. "She deserved it."

"Why would you think she would deserve that?"

Elizabeth let out a scoff. "You are completely oblivious. She was fucking flirting with you the whole day, and it was like completely obvious." Elizabeth put her hand on Justin's bicep. "Oh, Justin, thank you so much for being forced to tour this school today." She spoke in a higher pitch, trying to imitate Amanda.

"Who cares if she was flirting with me?"

"Uh, I think it's obvious that I do." Elizabeth crossed her arms over her chest. "You have a fucking girlfriend."

"And, I love you." Justin smiled as he took Elizabeth's hands in his. "I wasn't noticing that she was flirting with me because I was thinking about all the great things that we could do here next year."

Elizabeth felt bad now. She sighed as she looked down at the ground. "I just didn't like seeing her touching you like that."

Justin nodded and leaned leaned in closer towards her, bring his lips up to her ear to whisper. "By the way, you are so fucking sexy when you're jealous." Elizabeth giggled, playfully pushing him away from her. Justin smiled, placing his hands on his girlfriend's waist. Their lips met before they hugged each other.

After meeting with the Dean of Admissions at Sanderson College, Elizabeth and Justin were met by Matt, who told them that Clay and Zach were being detained by campus security. Apparently, they had snuck into a frat party, and Clay was found in a bedroom with an unconscious girl. The three made their way into the office of campus security to find Zach and Clay sitting. "Jesus, Clay." Matt sighed. "What the hell?"

"Mr. Jensen, they told held us hostage." Zach mumbled, sitting up in his seat.

"You're lucky they didn't do a lot worse. They made some pretty wild accusations." Matt spoke to the two students in front of him. "And if it weren't for the fact the Sigs have zero credibility with campus security, we might have a real problem." The two boys looked down at the ground. "What were you boys thinking? Clay?" Clay rested his head in his hands, obviously not having an answer for his father. "Well, I told Gary you two were detained, so the bus has left to go back to liberty. And Clay," Clay looked back up at Matt, "you missed the meeting with the dean." A security guard approached Matt with the paper work he needed to sign for Zach and Clay to be released. "This discussion will continue at home." Matt spoke as he began to sign the forms. "And, Zach, I'm going to have to speak with your mother."

"Oof, well, I am sorry about that." Zach grabbed his jacket and stood up from his seat, leaving the four Jensens.

Matt walked away to talk to a security guard as Clay stood yp. "Are you okay?" Elizabeth asked her brother. He looked incredibly pale.

"Fuck you guys."

"No, dude. You don't look great. Are you okay?" Justin questioned, placing his hand on Clay's shoulder. The boy responded by puking all over Justin. Elizabeth jumped out of the way.
