46.0 The One With Red Paint

Post Death
Pre Death

Isabel Henry stood at her locker after school ended. She looked around the hallway as everyone rushed out of the high school, excited to have the rest of the day off. She wasn't, though. She was only in Evergreen because her mother died three weeks ago, and her father wanted to move back to where his family lived. Her father did not even care enough to ask Isabel's opinion. She never wanted to move. It was hard enough to lose her mother, but all of her friend too? She was beginning to fall apart when she met Elizabeth Jensen. The two girls hit it off right away, but Isabel was scared that Elizabeth would leave her, just like everyone else in her life.

Then she met Jessica Davis.

Jessica was beautiful, kind, smart, and incredibly passionate. Isabel wanted to get to know Jessica more as they begun to see each other. They became partners for a project in math class. When they would work on the project at Jessica's house, all Isabel could do was watch Jessica. Every move that Jessica made brought Isabel in more and more.

Jessica Davis had begun to be attracted to girls late in her sophomore year, but she did not exactly know it. She thought she was in love with her best friend in a platonic way, but she was not. Jessica's feelings began to fade after Justin went missing and Elizabeth began her downward spiral, but her attraction to girls never stopped.

When Ani had Jessica try to find herself sexually, all Jessica could think of were other girls. This was when she knew that she liked girls. She hadn't told anyone because she didn't know how people would react. She already had a very divided popularity vote because of her activism. She did not want to give anyone another reason to dislike her. When she met Isabel Henry, however, everything changed. She knew that she wanted to be with this girl, and she did not care what anyone else thought.

She just hoped Isabel felt the same way.

Elizabeth Jensen approached Isabel at her locker with a smile. "Hey."

The girls' eyes met, and Isabel closed her locker. "Hey, 'Liza. What's up."

"I just wanted to make sure that no one has pissed you off too much at this school, yet." Elizabeth chuckled

"Not yet." Isabel shrugged, throwing her backpack over her shoulders.

"Eliza!" The two girls turned to see Jessica Davis approaching them. "Oh, hey, Isabel." Jessica and Isabel made eye contact and then quickly looked away. "Sorry, I just wanted to talk to Elizabeth about something real quick." Elizabeth let out a scoff as she crossed her arms over her chest. "I wanted to apologize."

"Yeah." Isabel nodded. "You guys can talk." Isabel started to walk away, but turned back around. "Jess, do you want to come over sometime in the next couple of days to finish the project?"

Jessica smiled. "Yeah, that sounds perfect." Isabel left the two girls alone. "Eliza, I'm sorry."

"Jess, I think that you were just protecting yourself, and besides, no one can back up my alibi of being alone in my room asleep." Elizabeth sighed.

"Why can't you say that you were with Justin? I thought you were together after the game." Jessica furrowed her eyebrows.

Elizabeth shook her head. "He drove me home, but that was it. He went to the docks to get fucked up, so if they bring in the dealer, he can say that Justin and I were definitely not together that night."

"Fuck." Jessica looked down at the ground. "Uh-" She made eye contact with her friend again. "I, also, wanted to tell you that Bolan's making me apologize in front of Hillcrest and all of Liberty."

Elizabeth scoffed. "That's bullshit. Those fucking Hillcrest boys are the ones who started it."

"I started it with my speak." Jessica glanced around the hallway. "And, I have to tell the group that today, and they're going to be pissed, so I was wondering if you would be there to support me."

The girl nodded as she smiled. "You might have fucked up telling Ani that you were with me, but you're still my best friend, and I will always support you no matter what." Jessica pulled Elizabeth into a hug, and Elizabeth hugged her back.

Justin Foley sat next to his girlfriend at a table in the library after school had ended. "He's making Jessica apologize, and it's fucked up. She shouldn't be the one to apologize." Elizabeth groaned as she looked up at Justin. "That Hillcrest boy who grabbed my tits should be the one fucking apologizing, not Jessica."

"She did interrupt the game, babe."

"Who cares if she interrupted the game." Elizabeth rubbed her eyes with her hands. "That game should have been cancelled to begin with."

Justin smirked as he leaned in and kissed his girlfriend on the cheek. "I know you don't mean that." He chuckled as he moved his hand to her thigh. "I know you think I look mad sexy in that uniform."

"That's not really helping mine or Jessica's point about Jock culture." Elizabeth tried to send him an angry look, but he was too cute, so a smile broke through. "You're lucky you are so fucking adorable, Justin Foley."

"I thought you thought I'm mad sexy." Justin chuckled as he draped his arm over Elizabeth's shoulders. "How am I just adorable?"

"Oh, you are definitely hot. No questions." Elizabeth giggled as she lightly pecked his lips. "But your cuteness helps you way more."

"Touche."

"Are you saying I'm not sexy?" Justin's eyes widened, not understanding what just happened. He then frantically shook his head. Elizabeth laughed at her boyfriends response. "I'm joking with you."

Justin smiled as he moved his hand further up Elizabeth't thigh. "You are so sexy." Justin stated as he brought his lips to Elizabeth's neck. "You do things to me that no other girl has ever done."

Elizabeth placed her hand on Justin's hand as it continued to ride up her thigh, stopping it. "Justin, this is the second time today that you have tried this shit today. Not at school, okay?"

The boy nodded. "Sorry that I can't help myself because you're so fucking hot."

Elizabeth made her way to the basement of Liberty High School for the HO meeting when she met up with Jessica. "You knew about Tyler?"

"Did he tell you about Monty?" Jessica nodded in response.

"I think I just scared Monty shitless, though." Jessica chuckled before taking Elizabeth's hand in her own and walking into the HO meeting room.

Casey was sitting at the head of the table where Jessica usually sat, talking to the other girls. "So, the locker room is perfect because if we confront the jocks in their precious sanctuary..." The girls all nodded as they listened.

"Hey." Jessica stated, cutting their conversation off. Elizabeth sent the group an awkward wave.

The girls all looked over at Jessica and Elizabeth, and some actually gasped. Casey leaned on the table with her elbows. "What?'

"I'm not here to ask for my place back, I'm just asking for you to hear me out." Jessica spoke to the girls that she has led only a week before.

"I'm here for moral support." Elizabeth stated, shifting her body awkwardly.

Casey motioned for Jessica to continue, and she moved over to the table with Elizabeth following closely behind her. "It's important to make noise, you're right. But, I don't know." Jessica explained to the girls. "I worry sometimes that the louder we get, the harder it is for someone to even find their voice. To tell their story. And that's the first thing that needs to happen, right?" Elizabeth knew that Jessica was talking about Tyler. "People need to be able to speak before they can shout."

"Okay." Casey nodded. "What are you getting at?"

"I need your help. All of you."

"Alright, who's the keeper of the banner?" Jessica asked the members of HO as they prepared for their riot during the Homecoming football game.

"I've got it." Elizabeth smiled, raising it over her head.

"Great." Jessica nodded, checking off her list. "And the paint?"

A girl took the red paint off the table, raising it into the air. "Right here."

"Okay, great." Jessica stated, once again checking an item off of her list. "Just make sure you hide it when we go outside, okay?" She looked back down at the paper to see the next item they need. "And the megaphone?"

Casey approached the table with the megaphone held against her mouth. "No idea. Can't find it." She shouted into it, scaring Ani, who was sitting right next to where Casey was standing.

The girls laughed. A smile appeared across Jessica's face. "This is going to be the biggest fucking wakeup call Liberty's ever seen." The girls in the room cheered. "Right, phase one, let's go!" Jessica called out, raising her fist into the air. Her phone buzzed as the girls began to talk to each other, so Elizabeth was the only one to notice. Jessica looked down at her phone, and her expression faded as she read the text she had just received. Elizabeth cocked an eyebrow, asking Jessica if everything was right. Jessica simply nodded as a response before turning to the other girls. "I forgot my towels in my car. I'll be right back, okay?" Elizabeth watched her best friend leave the room, and wondered what on her phone could have made Jessica upset?

The halftime show ended for the football game, and the players made their way back onto the field. Jessica had decided this was the perfect time to interrupt. As soon as the ball was placed on the field, the members of HO, led by Jessica, came running onto the field. "Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Rape culture has got to go!" The shouted repeatedly, stopping the game. When they reach the center of the field, still chanting, the girls began to tear off their clothes to reveal handprints made from red paint all of their bodies.

Montgomery De La Cruz scoffed as he looked over at Justin was was right by him. "Go get your bitch off the field."

"Shut the fuck up, Monty." Justin spat as he watched the girls.

Elizabeth and another girl stuck the banner that read "Hand's Off Our Bodies" into the field and began to take off their clothes. Justin's eyes widened, and Montgomery lightly punched him in the shoulder. "Damn, Foley. I knew she was hot, but I didn't know she was that hot." Justin just tried to ignore Montgomery.

The girls continued their chant as they stripped to their underwear. Charlie St. George began shaking his head. "It is way too cold for those girls to be that naked right now."

"Really, Charlie? That's your focus right now?" Justin questioned, rolling his eyes.

Ani held a full bucket of red paint as girls began dipping their hand inside and pressing more handprints on their bodies. Elizabeth reached in, but accidentally pushed the bucket so that it spilled on Ani. "Shit, Ani!" Elizabeth gasped as she backed away. "I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about it." Ani smiled, standing up. She began to make her way towards other girls to get them to dip their hands inside. Tyler was watching from the sidelines, taking pictures.

As they continued yelling to the crowd, the referee started screaming back at them "Hey, get off the field. This is a game!"

Bryce Walker made his way over to Ani. "Hey, Ani. You've got to get off the field. It's about to get real bad." He pointed over to the police officers who were running onto the field.

Ani's eyes widened. "Shit!" She ran over to Jessica and Elizabeth. "Guys, they've got police."

"Who fucking cares?" Elizabeth groaned.

"Yeah, we're not trespassing." Jessica stated, looking over at the cops.

The police began to try to drag some girls off the field, but they resisted. "People are going to get hurt!" Ani insisted.

"'People have already been hurt. Ask your friend Bryce!" Jessica snapped at her, pushing her back. "Go on, go!" Ani watched for about twenty seconds as the sheriff grabbed onto Casey before running off of the field.

"Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Rape culture has got to go!"

Elizabeth and Jessica continued shouted as two Hillcrest boys approached them. "Hey, nice ass." They smirked.

"Fuck you!" Elizabeth spat before turning back to the crowd. "Hey, Hey! Ho, ho! Rape Culture has-" Elizabeth let out a gasp as someone came up from behind her and grabbed onto her boobs.

"What the fuck!?" Justin screamed before him and the rest of the liberty football team ran onto the football team.

Jessica pushed the boy off of Elizabeth and kneed him in the groin, sending him toppling over. The boy stood back up, trying to make his way back to Elizabeth, but Justin reached him and punched him in the face. "That's my fucking girlfriend, you asshole!" Justin jumped after the boy as a huge fight broke out across the entire field between the two football teams.

A police officer began to drag Elizabeth and Jessica away, but Jessica got out of his grasp, running for the megaphone. She picked it up and began to shout into it. "Is this what it takes for you to see us?! Then get a good fucking look because we are not going anywhere!" Jessica began her chant again as Elizabeth was dragged off of the field.

When the officers finally broke up the fight, the students were herded into the gym. Elizabeth had her head on Justin's Foley's shoulder. "I'm sorry about tonight."

Justin looked down at her and shook her head. "You have nothing to be sorry about, babygirl." Justin wrapped his arm around his girlfriend, pulling her even closer towards him. "I started the fight."

"Because that asshole groped me."

"That's not your fault. That is that guy and society's fault."

Elizabeth sighed as she lifted her head, looking up at Justin. "I still feel bad." She lightly touch the purple bruise on his face, and he winced. "Sorry."

"It's okay."

Justin took Elizabeth's hands and kissed them before a police officer stood in front of the bleachers and spoke to the students. "Okay everyone, listen up. Game's over. You're all free to leave once a legal guardian comes to claim you."Matt and Lainie soon arrived at the school, meaning the three teenagers of the Jensen household could leave.
