4.0 The One With Breakfast

Post Death
Pre Death

Elizabeth Jensen laid in her bed, and brushed a piece of hair out of Justin Foley's face. A smile appeared on his face before his eyes opened. "Morning." His voice was groggy, and his eyes wandered between Elizabeth's eyes and lips.

"Morning, baby." Elizabeth chuckled as she sat up. "We have school."

"But I don't think we have to go to it." Justin snaked his arms around Elizabeth's waist in an effort to pull her back down to him.

"I've missed the past two weeks basically, I have to go today." Justin sighed and nodded before sitting up. He placed a kiss on Elizabeth's forehead. Elizabeth chuckled as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders, pressing her lips against his. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

There was a knock at Elizabeth's door, and the two jumped. "It's time for breakfast!" Elizabeth's mom shouted through the door.

"But we never eat breakfast together!" Elizabeth shouted back, as she put on some pajama pants and threw Justin's shirt at him.

"Well, today we are, so get up and get ready, then we're eating breakfast as a family."

"Fine." Elizabeth grumbled as she heard her mother walk away. Justin smiled before wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her. "Hey, you have to go."

"Do I? They're gonna find out I've been sneaking in here some day." Justin chuckled as he finally put on his shirt.

"Well, today's not going to be that day." Elizabeth smiled as she pushed Justin towards the window. "Now, shoo."

"See you at school, princess."

"If you're lucky."

After getting ready for school, Elizabeth stumbled into the kitchen where her dad was eating French toast and her mom, Lainie was still cooking eggs. "The eggs will be ready in a few minutes, but while you're waiting, dig into the French toast." Elizabeth nodded before grabbing a plate. Elizabeth's brother Clay rushed into the kitchen and grabbed a mug before pouring himself a cup of coffee. "Do you want any cream with that?" Mrs. Jensen questioned her son.

"This is fine." Clay shook his head before sitting down at the table.

"You don't drink coffee." Elizabeth frowned, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Well, I don't eat breakfast either, so.."

"It has been almost two weeks since we sat together for dinner as a family." Their Mother spoke before moving to the breakfast table. "I am nothing but a realist, so I am proposing that we have family breakfast every day instead."

"I don't like this proposition." Elizabeth sighed, sinking further into her chair.

Lainie glared at Elizabeth. "We just each have to get up a little bit earlier."

"How early did you get up? Yesterday?" Clay chuckled before scooping some scrambled eggs onto his plate.

"We won't do the full spread every day, but it's nice to start out right." Lainie smiled as she scooped some eggs onto her plate. "So, how'd your project end up last night? With Tony?"

"Fine." Clay nodded.

"For history, right?"

"There was a history project?" Elizabeth's eyes widened before clay shoved his foot into her shin. Elizabeth gasped as her hands hit the table. She looked up at Clay, glaring. "Oh yeah. Jessica's my partner."

"It's an oral project about, like, students who came before us and stuff." Clay continued to describe his made up history project.

Elizabeth frowned as she looked at a bottle of pills with her name on it on the table.

"'Liza, we know the last couple of weeks have been hard." Lainie tried to break the ice.

"I told you I don't need to take these." Elizabeth exclaimed, picking up the bottle.

"We talked to Dr. Ellman, and he suggested that you started taking these in case you need it."

"Well, I don't need it." Elizabeth stood up, chugging the rest of her coffee. "Clay and I need to start heading to school."

Elizabeth smiled as her hands clapped over Hannah Baker's shoulders and walked next to her. "Hey, Han. How's your day been?"

"Nothing special." Hannah chuckled, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "I was assigned a friend. You might actually know her. She's new too, Jessica Davis."

"Yeah." Elizabeth nodded, matching the name to a face. "She's in my history class. She seems nice."

"Apparently we have the same sense of humor." Hannah rolled her eyes, stopping at her locker, which was coincidentally right next to Elizabeth's. "I don't see it."

"Who knows." Elizabeth smiled, leaning her back against her locker. "We became friends."

"Yeah, but I like you."

"You love me."

"Yeah, I do."

Hannah looked as if she was going to continue, but she looked down as Justin Foley walked by them down the hallway. "Hey, Liza." He sent Elizabeth a wink and she frowned.

"What?" Elizabeth crossed her arms, turning to Hannah.

"Does he like you?" Hannah asked her suddenly, running a hand through her hair.

"Justin?" Elizabeth chuckled, shaking her head. "No. I don't even like Justin as a friend. After what he did to you? He's a douche."

Yeah, Justin was a douche, but he was a hot douche, with beautiful blue eyes. Every time Elizabeth looked into his eyes, she would just get lost in the beauty of them. Elizabeth hated that she was attracted to him, but you can't help who you're attracted to.

"Are you okay?" Hannah asked her friend, looking into her eyes. "You're seeming pretty spacey."

"I'm fine." Elizabeth nodded.

Elizabeth looked at the locker next to hers. She sighed as she watched someone tape up a bullshitted note. She hadn't put anything up. She knew Hannah hated that shit.

Elizabeth watched her brother walk down the hall and walk up to Zach Dempsey. "Have you seen Justin today?" Clay interrogated Zach.

"No." Zach chuckled, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Maybe you should ask your sister, since they're fucking and all."

"Shut up, Dempsey." Elizabeth scoffed as she walked over to them, standing next to her brother. "Leave him alone."

"Awww, your sister is coming to the rescue." Zach laughed. "How cute."

"Keep talking and I'll shove my fist so far up your-"

"Okay, Liza, we should go." Clay frowned as he started to pull Elizabeth away. "Have you seen Justin?"

Elizabeth shook her head. "He told me he'd see me at school today, but he didn't show up."

"I mean, you're together, right?" Clay furrowed his eyebrows, not exactly understanding. "You two are okay?"

Elizabeth nodded. "We're fine."
