25.0 The One Where It's An Awkward Morning
Elizabeth Jensen waited days for Justin to respond to her messages asking if he was safe. He never responded to her, but he did text Clay. Clay picked Justin up at the bus station, where he was trying to run away. When Clay drove him to the Jensen household, Elizabeth was there waiting for him with open arms.
"I'm so glad you're okay." Elizabeth sighed as she hugged him tightly.
"You knew I was at my mom's." Justin stated hoarsely as he pulled away from her hug.
"You weren't texting me back." Elizabeth furrowed her eyebrows. "I was worried that Seth had done something to you."
Justin shrugged. "He didn't. I'm fine."
"Why are you so edgy?"
"Maybe because I'm done following you around like a lost puppy." Justin snapped at her. "I can't take it anymore."
"Justin, what do you-"
"You keep saying not yet, but when's the time gonna be right? Will it ever be?"
"I-"
"I'm done, 'Liza." Justin shook his head at her. "I can't keep killing myself over you. You just aren't worth it." Elizabeth was speechless. He had never acted this way towards her. She nodded slowly before rushing into her bedroom.
Of course, Justin did not mean any bit of what he said, but he knew it was better for her this way. She deserved to be with someone who could take care of her, like Zach, and she had that, but then threw it away because of him.
Justin Foley was so deeply in love with Elizabeth Jensen that he only wanted the best for her. He did not care about himself anymore.
Elizabeth Jensen sat in her bedroom, crushed. She had no idea how this happened, or what changed for Justin. She just knew that she needed to get high. Molly was the only thing that helped her feel absolutely nothing. She rushed to her drawer and dug out her bag of Molly. She sighed before licking her finger, placing it in the powder, and then injecting it. She continued until she heard a knock at her window. By this time, Elizabeth was clearly high. She stumbled her way to the window and opened it to show Zach.
Zach climbed in through her window and enveloped her in a hug. "Clay told me what Justin said." Elizabeth felt tears run down her cheeks. "I'm so sorry, 'Liza."
"Whatever, I don't care." Elizabeth whispered into Zach's chest.
"No, you do. Which is why you're probably so high right now." Zach shook his head as he pulled away from the hug to grab onto her hands. Elizabeth opened her mouth to argue, but ended up closing it once again. "He's not worth it."
Elizabeth shook her head as she moved to sit down on her bed. "I don't understand why I can't move on from him."
"He just has some kind of hold over you."
"Let's not talk about it."
"You're the one who brought it up."
Elizabeth shrugged, giggling. "I don't care, and neither should you." She tugged at his shirt until he sat down next to her. "He's pushing me away."
"He is." Zach nodded, not exactly understanding what was going on.
"But, you aren't."
"How did we get to this subject?"
"You're the one who's been there for me. You've tried to help me through everything." Elizabeth smiled up at her best friend. "And, you're hot."
"Did I miss some kind of text that said that you were into me or something?" Zach chuckled, which made Elizabeth frown.
"My dear Zachy, you have two options here. You could keep making uncomfortable jokes as a way to deal with the pain of me turning you down earlier," she smirked as she leaned closer towards him, "or you could just make out with me."
"What?"
"I said what I said." Elizabeth rolled her eyes at the boy sitting in front of her. "Now, are you going to man up and kiss me, or do I have to do all the work?"
Zach furrowed his eyebrows, still not totally comprehending the situation, but kissed Elizabeth anyways. Elizabeth smiled as she kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Elizabeth Jensen woke up the next morning with Zach's shirt on. She frowned as she glanced down at the boy next to her. She regretted everything from the night before. She knew that Justin did not mean what he said, but his words still hurt her. She heard the door to her bedroom open. "Hey, 'Liza, I'm sorry about-" Elizabeth looked at Justin as soon as he stopped talking. "You've got to be fucking kidding me. Really, Eliza?"
Elizabeth's eyes landed on a shirtless Zach sleeping next to her on the bed. "Justin-" She stood up from the bed, moving towards him, but Justin backed away one step for every step that she took.
"You told me nothing was going on between you."
"And then you told me I wasn't worth it."
Justin let out a scoff, throwing his hand through his hair. "I should have known.'
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Elizabeth was shocked by his words.
"You're a fucking slut, Elizabeth Jensen."
Elizabeth's mouth opened slightly, but no words would come out. He had never been like this to her before. A tear slid down her cheek, but she quickly brushed it off. Zach, who had just awoken, had heard enough of what Justin had said to Elizabeth. He was quickly off Elizabeth's bed, with her standing between the two boys. "Apologize." Justin shook his head. "What the fuck is wrong with you, Foley?"
"You want to know if what's wrong with me!?" Justin exclaimed, closing the space between him, Elizabeth, and Zach slightly. "What's wrong with me is that I come back and my best friend has fallen for the love of my life." Elizabeth looked back at Zach. "And she's starting to fall for him. That's what's fucking wrong with me!" Elizabeth snapped back towards Justin, as if to say something to him, but he spoke before she could. "I wanted to apologize for what I said last night, but I just realized that everything was true."
"Justin, please. Just let me explain."
"I don't think there's any explanation needed, you've clearly moved on." And with that, Justin left Zach and Elizabeth alone in her room.
"Elizabeth, I-"
"It's okay, Zach." She sighed as she sat down on her bed. "This is my own fault."
"It's not entirely your fault."
Elizabeth shook her head as she looked down at her lap. "I shouldn't have flirted with you last night like I did. I was really high, and it wasn't fair to you."
"You regret it?"
"I don't know."
Zach nodded before standing up. He left through Elizabeth's window without sayin anything else to her.
