Chapter 31: How to Help

He couldn't explain it. He suddenly felt completely content, and it was like there was never any rage or grief or anything else. It was exhilarating. It was better than any adrenaline rush.

And much, much riskier.

Because if Joe, or Iris, or really anyone, found out...

Ugh. That could not happen. He wouldn't allow it to.

He made another cut. He watched the blood slowly flow down his arm, and he couldn't help but think that it looked like ketchup.

He almost smiled at the thought.

Now, how to keep Joe, Iris, everybody else from finding out...

...

Joe was starting to worry. He knew that telling Barry about his job might not go over well, but this was completely different from how he'd pictured it.

Barry had been alone upstairs for half an hour.

Then he realized: Barry was on suicide watch. He wasn't supposed to be out of Joe's sight.

Ugh. Damnit.

This might be harder than he'd thought..

...

"Barry?" Joe shouted from downstairs, but Barry didn't hear him. He was so absorbed in the blood flowing down his arm, he didn't even care.

"Your not supposed to be alone," Joe said as he started to walk up the stairs. "Joe, I'm fine. It was a spur of the moment thing anyway. It's not like I'm going to do it again. Besides, I really need to be alone right now. I just lost my job."

Not that Barry could see, but Joe nodded and walked back down the stairs.

Barry turned his attention back to his arm. He could see his super healing was already at work.

That meant that they wouldn't find out.

Thank. God.

...

Joe had quickly realized that he couldn't keep Barry on suicide watch. He could literally kill himself before Joe could blink, and all he needed was his hand.

How was he supposed to keep him alive?

So, when Barry asked to be alone, he let him.

So, before thinking, he called Caitlin and told her that...

...

Caitlin was stressed beyond measure. Her phone call with Joe didn't help. He basically named her biggest issue: keeping Barry alive.

How the hell was she gonna do that!?!?!?

...

She finally came up with an idea.

Barry could kill himself at anytime. He could run off a cliff, or run to grab a knife. Or, he could just smash his heart.

What connected the two?

His speed.

Without it, it would be so much easier to keep him alive.

And she already had some from his fight with Zoom.

She shuddered. That was always a painful memory.

Now, how to inject him with it...

...

Caitlin didn't trust him to be The Flash. Her main argument was that he had become suicidal by working on the Legends' ship. What if being The Flash triggered it?

Barry knew what had triggered it, (Hint: Len) and it had nothing to do with saving lives, (Or sometimes killing them) but she refused to be talked out of it.

It was really annoying. You'd think they would listen to him.

But, alas. Nope.

...

Caitlin finally decided to pretend that it was a really important shot Barry was required to have.

Hopefully, she would get away with it.

But, alas, it was not in the cards.

...

Barry immediately knew something was wrong.

He knew what the Speedforce felt like, and it was gone.

"Caitlin..." Barry started. "Why is my speed gone?"

Caitlin gulped. Suddenly, Killer Frost appeared.

...

Note: Remember. This takes place as an alternate Flashpoint. Everything is the same as Flashpoint. (Minus the villains) The only differences is that it is earlier, and no one knows about either Flashpoint. Which means Killer Frost still exists.

And some minor differences that I made, such as Killer Frost and Caitlin are one and the same. The only similarity is that Caitlin's powers only activate when she's angry or scared, and her hair, lips, and skin still change. So does her voice.

Also, sorry for stealing Thea's nickname. I couldn't think of anything!

...

"What's wrong, Speedy?" Frost asked. Barry swallowed. Killer Frost was one of the things he was hoping would disappear.

Nope.

"What. Did. You. Do!?!?" he yelled, then charged her.

Frost immediately used her ice to pin him to the wall. (Without hurting him, off course) "I decided you still needed help," she offered. "I'm sorry, but it was the only way."

Barry screamed. He screamed every single emotion he was feeling. The pain, the loss, the hurt, the comfort he wished for, the anger, the fear, and the grief.

He had never felt so alone.

...

Another note: I'm not super smart like Barry or Caitlin or Cisco, so I don't know how it worked in the show, but in my second version of Flashpoint, Caitlin had the speed dampener work by wiping out the speedforce a speedster has in his cells. It naturally returns after time. It didn't work on Zoom because (Once again, my version) a speedster's speed is controlled by emotions. When Zoom thought he had lost, he got so angry and disappointed etc, he was able to 'reload' his cells right away.

The same thing just happened to Barry. His emotions are on overload because he feels betrayed by everyone he has ever loved or even liked.

His boss fired him.

Joe let him.

Iris let him.

Wally's a jerk.

Everyone on the Waverider sent him back to live with these assholes.

Len for obvious reasons.

Oliver for forcing him.

Felicity for getting together with Oliver.

Where was Cisco?

Caitlin for taking away his speed.

So, yes. Honestly, am I missing anyone here?

...

He started to vibrate. He was so angry, so hurt, that he didn't even care what happened.

He couldn't.

He broke the ice surrounding him, and looked Caitlin right in the eye. All she could see was pure rage.

Then he sped off.

...

Barry was absolutely crazy.

But he had to know.

So, he called them up.

They said yes.

Thank. God.

...

Everybody aboard the Legends' ship had been working, but they still didn't know. What the hell had happened to Len?

When they got Barry's call, they decided that he might be able to help them. So they let him come back.

He sounded overjoyed.

Had they done the right thing?

...

Note: Return of The Flash on Legends of Tomorrow!

Man, I really wanted to use this picture more often. I finally can!
