Chapter 23: Mission/Training
Note: I forgot to mention this last chapter, but The Legends of Tomorrow aren't fighting Vandal Savage in this story. The villain is The Time Masters for the entire story, or at least the Legends of Tomorrow parts.
...
Barry knew that he was going to have to kill her. He didn't want to, didn't want to be a murderer, but he had to.
To save Len's life.
So he picked up the gun as slowly as possible, and aimed it at the kid. The kid herself was only six or seven, and scared to death. She trembled as Barry held her at gunpoint. He felt tears in his eyes, only to see them reflected in her's. He looked at the man holding a gun to Len's head. The man, or 'Boss' as he liked to be called, nodded. "Pull the trigger," he said.
Barry turned his attention back to the little girl, as she was starting to scream. He wanted to comfort her, make her feel better, but he was the one causing the pain.
"I'm so sorry," he said. She swallowed and looked at him. "No, your not," she said. "If you were, you wouldn't do it."He felt tears fall down his cheeks.
Len rolled his eyes. "Barry, it's not like your actually murdering a little girl. She is a video game. She doesn't care if you shoot her. If you really can't shoot her, shoot me."
Barry immediately pulled the trigger on his remote control and her body fell forward.
The surprising thing was, he didn't feel any regret. He thought about how that body could have been Len's, how Barry had saved Len's life, and he didn't feel so bad.
Len didn't have to know that.
...
Huh? As soon as Len had mentioned Barry shooting him, Barry pulled the trigger. Was that significant?
Probably not.
...
Rip Hunter knew that in order to protect time from the Time Masters, he would need a team. So, he collected a team of people who shouldn't matter to the timeline. Key word being shouldn't.
Then, of course, Barry Allen had to show up. He was key to the timeline. He couldn't be killed without upsetting all of time. (Minus the past.) If he died, the entire would would be destroyed in fire and flame.
So, how to keep him alive without the others getting suspicious...
...
"Dude!" Jax shouted. "Your awesome at this game!" Barry laughed. He was actually cheating. Super-speed surprisingly helps with video games. "Well, and I'm awesome at everything else too." Jax rolled his eyes. "To be honest, I thought that you were an uptight nerd. Obviously I was wrong," he said as he gestured at Barry. Barry chuckled.
"Don't judge a nerd by his smarts," Barry said with a smile. "Well, I think Ray's an exception," Jax replied. "Yep," Barry said. "He gives nerds a bad name." Jax looked at him before he doubled over with laughter. "Your awesome," he said. Barry winked before heading back to his quarters.
...
(Note: Totally stole that line from this song. I'll put the video at the end...)
...
When he got there, he was surprised to see Mick. "Hello?" Barry asked. "Where do I know you from?" Mick asked. Barry almost laughed.
Almost.
"I'm the Flash," he said, looking Mick right in the eye. Mick chuckled. "No, seriously, nerd. Where do I know you-" He was cut off when Barry started to vibrate his hand. "Holy shit!" he shouted. "I seriously want to punch you!" Barry rolled his eyes. He really did that too much.
Mick started to charge him, but Barry was faster and smarter than he was. He quickly grabbed Mick and pulled him into Mick's room and put him against the wall, just like he had done with Kendra.
Mick also ran right into the wall. Barry laughed. He couldn't help it. It was hilarious to see people run into walls, especially since Mick had been aiming for Barry.
Mick growled. Barry laughed. "I'm your crew mate," Barry pointed out. "You can't keep trying to kill me." Mick looked at him. "Sure I can't," he said. Barry looked at him in annoyance. "I'm gonna ignore that," he said as he walked away.
...
Mick never actually never did stop trying to kill him. He preferred to attack in Barry's sleep, but he would attack really anywhere. Even in the middle of training.
Len, of course, was worried that Mick would actually kill Barry, but Barry wasn't. Mick's attacks were predictable, and easy to counter, and Mick always ran into the wall, so it was like a planned activity.
Len would never actually admit that he was jealous.
...
Barry was exhausted. He was in the kitchen, preparing a midnight snack. He was so tired he could barely see straight. He saw Mick walk in behind him and lock the door. He was too tired to deal with this.
Mick walked over to Barry, and he was holding a knife. Barry rolled his eyes. "I'm too tired for this!" he whined. Mick laughed. Then he stabbed Barry, right in the chest.
Barry collapsed into Mick's arms. Mick then carried Barry to the MedBay.
And Len saw the entire thing.
...
I told you I would! Also, there may be some FlashWave in the future...
