Chapter 17: Welcome To The World, Sadie
The two months after the day I spent with Daveed and Reneè went by in a blur. A blur of excitedly/nervously awaiting the arrival of my child, Sadie Diggs.
So yeah, two months had passed, and Sadie was set to arrive at any minute. My stomach had gotten even bigger (which was very surprising), so it was now the size of an elephant. I began to want to do nothing but stuff my face with Doritos and binge-watch "Black-ish" (Daveed was in it, okay? I liked intentionally playing the episodes with him in it in front of him, since he usually gets uncomfortable when people watch a show with him in it around him).
So, after a long day of doing nothing but what I listed above, I slipped into my pjs and slid into bed. I rested a hand on my stomach, a small smile crossing my face as I felt Sadie kick. She was probably getting tired of being trapped in such a small space. Can you imagine that? That must suck.
I wished Sadie a comfortable night, despite being trapped in my stomach, shutting my light off as I snuggled with my pillow.
I shut my eyes, and right as I was about to fall asleep, I heard footsteps make their merry way into my room. Well, my and Daveed's room, but I liked to think that such an amazing room with such a comfortable bed was all mine.
I opened my eyes and looked up, and Daveed was slipping into our bed, dressed in pajamas that had snowmen on them, despite winter being well over. It was June. June 20th. (I found out I was pregnant in September, 2016. Time flies, don't it?)
I raised an eyebrow. "How are you not hot?" I asked, scooching over a bit so that Daveed could have more room to sleep. See how generous I am? Giving my boyfriend so much space when I could easily hog the bed? Daveed is so lucky to have me.
A smirk made its way onto Daveed's face, and I knew just by his expression that he was gonna make a cheesy joke.
Unfortunately, I was right. "Oh, trust me, darling~ I am~" he purred.
I rolled my eyes, a smile on my face. "Well, I can't really argue with that..."
Daveed chuckled and decided that he didn't want to take advantage of the space I had given him; he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close to him.
With a smile, I rested my head on his chest. I felt my body slowly start to heat up from all of the body heat I was receiving. The blankets probably didn't help, either. But I didn't mind.
After a minute or two, I felt Daveed's breathing become very slow and very relaxed. I could tell he was sleeping.
He was lucky. I wasn't able to fall asleep that quickly.
I looked up at his sleeping face. I sighed, knowing that seeing Daveed sleep is the closest you could get to seeing God.
About ten minutes passed, and my eyelids were becoming heavy. I let them close, and I was out like a light. (That's one of my favorite analogies to use. :3)

I woke up at around 2:30 in the morning to my throat being extremely dry. I needed some water.
I wormed my way out of Daveed's grip, careful not to wake the bab as I did so. I then quietly went into the kitchen and got an empty glass. I put it against the fridge's water dispenser thing, waiting for the glass to fill.
After a few seconds, the glase was full. I took it off the dispenser button thing and brought the glass to my lips, taking a few sips. I put the cup down to stretch (why? Because I'm allowed to, damn it), but as soon as the stretch was over, something happened...
I suddenly felt really, really, REALLY wet.
Since I was tired, I didn't know why I was feeling so wet. I looked down, and there was a puddle of liquid on the floor. There was a similar puddle on my pants.
Only then did my tiredness vanish.
Sadie was about to make her entrance.
I began to panic. I had never had a baby before, and I was pretty scared of how it would feel. I mean, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that giving birth to a human being probably isn't the most pleasant thing in the world.
I took a deep breath, knowing that I had to calm down and wake Daveed. Worrying wouldn't do anything but knock a few years off my lifespan, and I could live without that, quite frankly.
I began to speed-walk back to my and Daveed's room, and that's when the contractions began to start. I winced as I felt an intense pain appear in my stomach. That pain was still existing when I got to our bed. And since pain usually makes me a bit snippy and inconsiderate, I began to shake Daveed so hard, he probably got whiplash.
Daveed woke up after a few shakes. "Hm..? What is it?" he said groggily.
God, his morning voice is cute, I thought. But there's no time to think about his voice now! You're about to give birth to a child, for God's sake!
"Daveed, Sadie's coming," I said, my tense muscles relaxing as the pain went away temporarily. But I knew another stab if it was right around the corner.
Daveed's eyes widened as he flew out of bed, scooping me up in his arms. "Are you sure?" he asked as he carried me through the house as fast as Sonic would. I was a bit disappointed that his morning voice was gone, though.
I nodded. "Yes. Very sure. My pants feel like a swimming pool."
Daveed nodded also. By that time, we were outside. He placed me into the passenger seat of his car, shutting the door afterward. He then got into the driver's side, started the engine, buckled up, and began to drive to the hospital.

So, I'll save you from the boring details of me getting checked in and all the hours of labor I was put through. I'll skip right to the big moment.
The sun was shining through my room window, and I had just finished a particularly painful contraction when my doctor walked in. "(Y/N), we're ready for you," she said with an encouraging smile.
My stomach did a somersault. The moment was here.
I looked up at Daveed, and he looked excited. Pfft. Easy for him to be excited. He wasn't giving birth to a human being like I was.
He saw the stress in my eyes and gave me a smile and a nod. That smile and nod looked like a promise that he would be by my side through all of the pain.
I exhaled and nodded at my doctor. "All right..."
I got in the wheelchair she had with her, trying to convince myself that I ready to begin giving birth.
My doctor began to wheel me to the delivery room, Daveed following close behind. The contractions were getting more and more intense, and I was trying not to cry.
After a few minutes of silence and experiencing bumps in the floor, I finally made it to the delivery room.
I got into the bed the room provided, and as soon as I did, multiple different doctors came into the room, each and ever one of them putting gloves on.
After they did, my original doctor said, "Okay, you can stary pushing whenever you're ready."
I exhaled nervously and looked up at Daveed again, needing his face to provide me with some courage.
Daveed was already looking down at me, so I didn't have to get his attention. Tears were in his eyes as he grabbed my hand. "You can do this, darling," he whispered, squeezing my hand.
I took a minute to mentally prepare myself for what was ahead, then nodded.
Here we go, I thought as I began pushing.
***
"She's almost out, (Y/N)," my orginal doctor said, her blue eyes lighting up. "Keep going!"
Daveed was watching, excitedly awaiting the birth of his baby girl.
I gave one final push, and after I did, the pain I had vanished, and crying could be heard.
Daveed's face lit up. "She's here! She's here, (Y/N)!" he said happily, tears running down his face.
I smiled, still trying to catch my breath. I wiped the sweat that had accumulated on my forehead and watched the doctors swaddle Sadie. Well, I couldn't really see Sadie. All I could see were their hands working.
After a few seconds, my original doctor handed me a swaddled Sadie, who was crying still.
I took Sadie from her and studied my child's features.
Aw.
She was adorable.
She had her dad's skin tone and hair (so basically a giant pile of floof), and my eyes. That was literally the only reason you could tell that Sadie was my kid. The eyes.
Daveed let out a tiny sob, staring at our offspring lovingly. "Oh my god...she has your eyes, (Y/N)..."
"I know..," I said, tears of my own flowing down my face. "Hello, Sadie..," I whispered.
Sadie looked up at me with teary eyes, and I knew that this kid wouldn't be the worst thing that ever happened to me. She'd be the best.
Yay! We're almost a 500 reads! Thank you guys for that!
