Chapter 15: The Big Reveal

"Llamas! Llamas everywhere!" I gasped as llamas began to fall from the sky.

I caught a baby one, and it looked up at me with demonic looking eyes. "Llaaaaammmmaaaaa," it said, sounding a bit like a zombie.

I then yeeted it, for some reason. The llama bounced a few times before exploding.

"(Y/N). (Y/N)! Wake up!" I heard Daveed say, waking me up from my strange dream about exploding llamas.

I tiredly opened my eyes and looked up at Daveed, who was now shaking me. Once he saw that I was awake, he stopped shaking me. He smiled at me, making me want to pass out. His smile always hypnotized me. "Oh, good. You're awake. We have to get ready for your ultrasound. It's in an hour and a half."

I groaned. "I should've made the appointment later," I mumbled to myself. I then pulled the blankets over my head. "I want sleeeeeep."

Even though I couldn't see him, I knew Daveed rolled his eyes. He sighed. "I didn't wanna have to do this, but if I have to, I will."

"Do wha--?" I started to say, but got cut off by Daveed pulling off my blanket and tickling me.

I squealed and thrashed around wildly, laughing my little heart out. "Dav! S-stop it!"

"Not until you get up!" Daveed said, continuing to tickle me mercilessly.

"Okay, okay! I-I'll get up!" I laughed, tears falling from my eyes.

Daveed nodded and stopped tickling me.

I sat up, panting and wiping the tears from my eyes. "Ugh...that was awful..."

"I kinda wanna keep tickling you," Daveed said with a small chuckle. "Your laugh is adorable, darling."

I blushed. I knew that Daveed would always possess the ability to fluster me. "Ah...I don't really--" I cut myself off, deciding to just take the compliment. "Thank you, Dav."

Daveed raised an eyebrow. "What were you gonna say?"

I sighed. "I was gonna say that I don't really like my laugh, and that when I laugh, I end up sounding like a psychopath standing over the dead body of the person they just murdered."

Daveed sighed, rolling his eyes. "You need to stop being so hard on yourself. Your laugh is literally my favorite sound."

I blushed. "And yours is mine." I stood up, stretching. "Anyway, let's change the subject to something less corny."

Daveed nodded. "Agreed. So, you excited for your ultrasound?"

I shrugged. "To hear my baby's heartbeat? Yes. To awkwardly stare ahead while a doctor moves this thing around my stomach in silence? No."

Daveed chuckled. "I don't blame you. That moment always seems awkward in the movies."

"Speaking of movies," I said, rummaging in my closet for a descent outfit, "how is 'Blindspotting' coming?"

Daveed sighed. "Ugh. Rafa and I might have to rewrite the script. The plot is all over the place."

When Rafa told me his summary, I didn't think so. But then again, you're talking to the girl that still likes "Sesame Street". What? Elmo is a precious bean! I just never told Daveed. He would make fun of me, and I'd rather not have him do that.

"Really? It didn't seem that bad to me," I said with a shrug. "It actually sounded pretty good."

Daveed took an outfit out of the closet as well. "But 'pretty good' is not what Rafa and I are going for. We want this movie to be groundbreaking. A classic. Ya know?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I see what you mean. Well, if you do decide to rewrite it, maybe I could help you!"

   Daveed smiled. "I'd like that."

And with that, we both changed (in separate rooms), ate breakfast, brushed our morning hair, and all of the other necessary actions involved in getting ready.

And then we began the drive to the doctor's. I dunno if that's where ultrasounds are preformed.

***

"I hate you," I growled as Daveed turned up my least favorite song that was now blasting through the car:

   (L/F/S). (Least favorite song)

Seriously, why did the artist feel the need to make my ears bleed? What did I ever do to them?

"Well, lucky for you, you'll be able to escape it. We're here," Daveed said with a chuckle, pulling into the doctor's office's parking lot.

"Oh, thank god!" I said with a relieved sigh, turning the radio off.

But, to my dismay, Daveed turned it back on. "Ah ah ah! We still need to find a parking spot before you can escape~"

I groaned, the annoying notes of (L/F/S) plaguing my eardrums.

Daveed then circled the parking lot over and ovet again, even though there were multiple spots open.

"Dav!" I said. "There are so many spots open! Park the damn car and stop torturing me!"

"Nah, it's fun watching you suffer~" he said teasingly.

I cheered as the song came to an end. Daveed sighed. "Fine," he said, disappointed. He then pulled into an open parking spot.

After that, we both got out, shut the door behind us, and made our way into the doctor's office. Ya know, like normal people.

After we entered said doctor's office, I checked in with the receptionist. We then sat down and waited for my name to be called.

***

Twenty minutes passed, and my name still wasn't called. I was on the verge of falling asleep, and it looked like Daveed was asleep. His eyes were just open. He was staring at a little girl playing with blocks, her pregnant mother beside her.

   And that's when I realized:

He wasn't sleeping. He was just admiring the cuteness of the little girl, and was hoping for one of his own.

That realization brought a smile to my face. I grabbed his hand. "Like that toddler, Dav?"

Daveed chuckled, his eyes meeting mine. "Yeah...she's...cute...that's all..."

I nodded, looking at her also. "She is. Just think: You might have one of those to call your own."

   Daveed smiled at that statement.

"(Y/N)?" the nurse who just entered the waiting room called.

I stood up, Daveed following suit.

As we started to follow the nurse, I saw Daveed give a small wave to the toddler that had caught his eye.

The toddler waved back enthusiastically, making both Daveed and I smile.

I was beginning to want a girl more and more.

***(holy moly there's a lot of time skips in this chapter :0)***

The nurse had finished weighing me and checking my temperature and stuff like that, and shortly after she left my newly acquired room, my doctor came in with all of the ultrasound equipment. (Doctors probably don't do an ultrasound in a normal room, but make believe they do.)

She was tall, had long, curly hair, and had dark brown eyes. She looked official. And I like official.

She smiled. "(Y/N), right?" she said, her voice a bit squeaky.

I nodded. "Yep. Nice to meet you," I said, awkwardly sticking my hand out for her to shake.

She didn't seem the gesture as awkward at all. She shook my hand with another friendly smile. "And you as well." She then turned to Daveed. "And you're Daveed, I'm assuming?"

I was suprised she got his name right on the first try; you should've heard the names teachers conjured up when they tried to pronounce his name during attendance.

Daveed looked a bit shocked too, but made a speedy recovery. "Uh, yes! Nice to meet you," he said, also awkwardly sticking a hand out for the doctor to shake.

She shook his hand also. She then smiled at me. "Are you ready to hear your baby's heartbeat?"

(DISCLAIMER!!! I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THESE TESTS, AND I'M PRETTY SURE YOU CAN'T FIND OUT A BABY'S GENDER FROM AN ULTRASOUND, BUT SHUT UP.)

I nodded, butterflies fluttering in my stomach, which was where an infant was existing.

She got everything hooked up, put the jelly on my stomach, then moved that...thing around it.

There was silence for a few seconds (everyone's eyes were glued on the screen), and then the heartbeat of my baby could be heard, making all three of us (me, Daveed, and the doctor) smile.

The doctor felt around for a few more minutes, then she said, "Well, looks like you guys are gonna be the parents of a healthy baby girl."

My heart leapt with happiness. I looked at Daveed, tears in my eyes.

Boy, Daveed's eyes were like two waterfalls. Tears were pouring down them both. A dopey smile was on his face, making me chuckle. "That's great!" he said, his voice cracking (it always cracked, but this time it was because he was happy).

I nodded. "Yes it is. Thank you, doctor." My own voice cracked a bit.

   The doctor nodded. "Anytime."

And with that, she packed up her stuff and left, as did Daveed and I.

We walked out of the room, out of the doctor's office, and went into our car (well, more like Daveed's, but you get it).

Daveed wiped the leftover tears from his eyes. "I'm so excited! We're having a girl, (Y/N)!"

I giggled, tears falling out of my own eyes now. "I know...I'm so happy!" I then rested a hand on my small baby bump, inwardly promising the girl inside of it to protect her at all costs. I knew Daveed was doing the same, for he was affectionately staring at my bump.

At first, I thought this baby would ruin my life. But at that moment, I was sure I'd love her more than anything.
