THIRTY NINE
"Okay wait Chris, hand me the tulips, she likes tulips - I know that."
Chris sighed, picking up the bunch of flowers Sebastian was gesturing to, "I love you mate, but you can't just waltz into her family home with flowers and an apology and get her back."
Sebastian gulped. He didn't want to admit it, but Chris was right.
They paid with an urgency that clearly startled the cashier, and before he knew it, Sebastian was at his girlfriend - current ex-girlfriend - 's family home ready to grovel for her forgiveness.
He lifted his hand hastily to knock the door, Chris a few feet behind him to avoid awkwardly intruding if Talia was to open the door to them. His knuckles rapped at the door hesitantly, drawing in a deep breath.
The wait felt like it lasted for days, but it was a matter of thirty seconds before the one and only Mark Summers reached the door and yanked it open, scowl on his face at the sight of Sebastian.
"And what are you doing here?" he looked disgusted, and Sebastian swallowed hard.
"I want to speak to - to apologise to - your sister. I've done so much and she needs to know how sorry I am."
Mark scoffed, rolling his eyes and pulling the flowers out of Seb's grasp.
"She's not here, asshat. She went out with an old friend, to catch up and get pissed. She's so upset, you dick. You hurt her and she feels bad for breaking things off. Like what the fuck? You deserve it." Mark crossed his arms, the bouquet still between his fingers.
"Look I know I hurt her but she means the world to me and I've realised what I did now," Sebastian sniffled a little and coughed to try and hide it, "Please tell me where she is."
"Are you kidding? I should be fucking beating your dumb ass for hurting my big sister like that. You should literally be unconscious on the ground at my mercy because you fucked over my favourite person in the world, the only person who has wholeheartedly been there for me properly in my life. She deserves a heck ton better than your sorry ass, Sebastian. You're just lucky I love her enough to know she wouldn't want me to hurt you."
Chris, still stood a little way behind Seb, coughed awkwardly, "I'll wait in the car, yeah." he scampered off, hands running through his hair.
"I'm sorry, Mark. I don't know how many times I'm gonna have to tell everyone that. I adore your sister with every fibre of my being and I've never been more sorry than I am in this moment. She's my world."
"A grand apology won't necessarily make this okay right now Sebastian. You didn't trust her and her anxiety is a bitch as it is, without the fear of your lack of trust and losing you. She's such a mess right now." Mark sighed.
"I know I'm a total dick and I don't care how long it takes, Mark. I want to make things right and show her I love her and that I do trust her. Where is she?"
Mark didn't want to tell him, but knew it could prove even more detrimental to the situation if he didn't, so he let slip his sister's current location.
"I promise you Mark, I won't do shit to hurt her again; I am going to find her and sort this out, make things right. I mean it."
"Good luck, asshole. You're gonna fucking need it and I swear I'll beat you black and blue if you hurt her again."

The bar in which Talia had found herself was dingy and shifty looking to say the least.
Sebastian was sad, as soon as he caught a glimpse of Talia he really realised how bad he'd hurt her. She was chugging drinks, a frown etched on her face, and accompanied by a tall girl with dark brown hair that he didn't recognise.
He wandered over slowly, tapping Talia's shoulder nervously and jumping back as she turned around, startled.
"What the fuck are you doing here? I don't want you here."
Sebastian bit his lip. She was far more drunk than he'd expected, and far more drunk than he'd ever seen her before.
"I want to apologise, to sort us out. To make things better, babygirl."
"Make things better?"
"To sort everything out. As much as you might think we did, I don't think we really ended on good terms and I miss you."
"It only happened because you don't trust me Sebby. I don't like not being trusted. What did I do wrong?" she pouted, tears pricking at her eyes.
Sebastian's heart yearned to kiss her, to hug her and to hold her. But he couldn't.
"You did nothing wrong, baby. I did and I am sorry angel. I know I did awful shit but I do trust you, I love you and I care about you I don't want to be without you."
"Just because I'm drunk, Sebby, it doesn't mean you can try and worm your way back in. I stand by what I said we can't date right now." her voice was slow and unsure and it broke Sebastian's heart - conflict and pain evident in her voice.
Sebastian ran his fingers through the front of his hair with a sigh, "You don't even want to try, to let me prove myself?"
"I love you more than anything but I know I forgave you far too fucking quick so no. We can't try and fix a mess like this until it's had time to smooth itself out anyway," she lifted her finger to her chin in thought, "Just go home Sebby, that's what I'm gonna do. And sleep. Probably cry a lot. But mostly sleep."
Sebastian sighed again. He knew he'd get nowhere and Talia was adamant that a break really was best for them.
She was, at least for certain temporarily, really done with him.
He just hoped that by the time promo started for Civil War, in as little as three weeks, they could make things okay again.
And he was sure he'd do whatever he could to work his ass off and prove that Talia was the most important person in the world to him and as hard as he knew it would be, he was determined.
