Friends
A/N: Sorry that I kinda disappeared off of the map for a bit, I've had little motivation to write since I'm worried about starting college in the fall. I'll be moving away from home for the first time and I'll be away from my boyfriend, so things will be much different for me. Thanks for everyone's support and happy late Fourth of July!
"Sorry Rhett!" The kid with glasses shot powerful blasts of water at the blonde haired teen with both of his hands, the latter barely managing to dodge to the side while focusing on him.
"Nice try Link!" The male called back as he rolled out of the way of the distraction, falling to the ground when roots sprouted from Phil's hands and wrapped around his ankles.
"That all you got Neal?" Rhett taunted as he took a block of wood out of his pocket, the wood shifting into a dagger that he used to cut himself free.
The boy with brown fringed hair had yet to move, his teammate occasionally glancing back at him with a confused expression.
"You can't win this, you'll fail the exam."
Phil abruptly stopped what he was doing to look at the boy, his lower lip trembling as he stood in a defensive position.
"Y-you don't know that Dan!" Phil blurted, inhaling sharply when the boy's brown eyes locked with his blue ones.
"You're hopeless." He countered quietly with remorse shining in his gaze, his words causing Phil's eyes to rapidly well up with tears.
"A little help?!" Link shouted from where he was pinned to the ground with Rhett standing over him, his weapon poised to strike even though he seemed reluctant to.
"Give up Phil." Dan directed tersely, the black haired teen slumping onto the floor in tears just as Rhett punched Link hard enough in the face to knock him out.
"The other team is down, team Rhett and Dan are victorious!" Jackaboy declared as Dan stood in front of Phil, offering him a hand up with an apologetic expression.
"W-What did you do to me?" Phil stammered as he allowed Dan to help him to his feet, Rhett carrying an unconscious Link back to the elevator.
"My quirk is called Drain, I can look at a person and cause them to feel hopeless....I hate it though." Dan admitted as he stepped into the elevator with Jackaboy and the other teens.
"Maybe we could be friends?" Phil asked optimistically, Dan shooting him an incredulous look.
"I just-"
"I know what happened, but you were just using your quirk to make sure you get into the academy. Really, don't worry about it." Phil interrupted with a smile, Dan relaxing slightly as he smiled back.
"Next fight is Robin Torkar and Seán McLoughlin versus Marzia Bisognin and Felix Xjelberg!" Jackaboy shouted as the elevator doors opened, the four new contestants entering the elevator while the four that had recently fought exited.
"Good luck!" Mark called out after Jack as he strode towards the elevator with the other competitors, the dark haired teen noticing a glimmer of pride in Jackaboy's eyes before the elevator shut.
"Are both teams ready?" Jackaboy questioned as he glanced between the two pairs of potential students.
"Let's fucking do this!" Jack shouted as he stood in a defensive position, Felix merely nodding in response as his fist started glowing blue.
"Go!" Jackaboy barked, Felix starting off by charging towards Jack with his glowing blue fist raised while Marzia stayed back.
"A little help?!" Felix grunted as Jack narrowly dodged the Swede's attack, yelling in response to make the male fly back a few feet as he winced and covered his ears.
When Felix recovered, he looked around to see two Robins wrestling on the ground with Jack looking just as confused as he felt.
"The fuck? Marzia, are you-"
"I'm the real Robin!" The identical Robins blurted in unison, Jack and Felix exchanging a look.
"So....I guess we fight each other now, huh Swedish meatball?" Jack chuckled, Felix rolling his eyes in response as he powered his fist up.
"You're welcome to try Irish potato." Felix taunted with a smirk, Jack grinning in response as he opened his mouth.
"TOP OF THE MORNING TO YA LADDIES!"
Everyone in the room, including Jackaboy, covered their ears as the room shook violently, one of the Robins passing out.
"Hah, knew it!" Jack crowed as the unconscious Robin's form turned into Marzia, the Irishman feeling a twinge of disappointment upon seeing earplugs in Felix's ears.
"Nice job Jack!" Robin cheered, pulling out his earplugs as he stood up and turned to help him face Felix.
"What the-no way! I didn't even know that she could do that." Felix breathed in awe as he stared at the unconscious Marzia, managing to turn his gaze away to see something small flying towards him.
"What the fuck?!" Felix shouted as a little clay figure with a cube shaped head climbed around his body, distracting him so Jack could attack.
"I won't let my family down!" Jack cried as he swung towards Felix's face, the Swede's fist glowing a vibrant shade of blue as it landed against Jack's.
The blast sent both of the teens flying back, Felix sliding back a few feet while Jack flew across the room and hit his head hard against the wall.
"F-fuck." Jack choked out as he managed to lift his head up slightly, watching Felix knock Robin out with a single punch.
"Sorry Jack," Felix apologized with a shrug as he sauntered over to the Irishman, standing over him with a triumphant grin as his fist began glowing once more.
"But I have to be the best."
With that, Felix hit Jack with an uppercut to the jaw, the Irishman's head snapping back before he fell onto the floor unconscious.
"Wow, what a fight! Looks like team Felix and Marzia one!" Jackaboy declared with forced enthusiasm in his voice, Marzia waking up as Felix walked past her towards the elevator.
"Felix...did we-"
"Yeah, I won." Felix interrupted, glancing over his shoulder at her as he stepped into the elevator.
"Ow, my head hurts like hell." Robin grimaced as he gradually woke up, pushing himself off of the ground while looking around for Jack.
"I need to take Jack to the medic, he's been seriously injured." Jackaboy stated grimly as he carried the unconscious Irishman in his arms, his gaze fixated on Jack's face as he stepped into the elevator with Marzia and Robin.
"Everyone move, I need to take Jack to the medic!" Jackaboy barked as he stormed out of the elevator, Mark's eyes widening when he saw his friend.
Jack's brown hair hung limply in his eyes with his skin surprisingly paler than usual, blood trailing down his forehead to drip onto the floor.
"I can take him." Mark volunteered without thinking of what he was doing, carefully taking Jack into his arms.
"There's still a lot more people to get through the exams...thank you." Jackaboy nodded in appreciation, walking into the elevator with four new teens.
"I...I have no idea where the medic is." Mark realized as he looked around him, the guy Chase that he had met earlier jogging up to him.
"Hey! Um, do you know where the medic is?" Mark questioned sheepishly, Chase's expression brightening.
"I know where he's at, he's one of my older brothers!" Chase replied as he jogged up the stairs to the next floor, dragging Mark along with him.
"This is the first floor, it's completely dedicated to my brother so he can have plenty of space for his work!" Chase explained as a man with a lab coat and one green eye strode up to the pair.
The room had sterile white walls with a white tiled floor, the air smelling slightly like lemon with white sheeted beds lined against the walls.
"Chase, vhat happened?" The doctor sighed as he took Jack from Mark, laying him down in a bed.
"This kid named Felix totally knocked him out, Jackaboy said to bring him to you Doc." Chase answered, the German looking over at Mark.
"And you are?" He prompted impatiently, his eyebrows raised.
"O-oh, my name's Mark." Mark stammered in surprise, the doctor nodding as he took a syringe out of his pocket.
"Doctor Henrik Von Schneeplestein, hopefully I von't have to see much of you in mein office. Now, I vould suggest looking avay if you have a veak stomach." Doctor Schneeplestien advised as he cleaned the needle of the syringe.
"Why? What are you doing?" Mask countered warily, the German sighing once more as he looked over at Chase and gestured at Mark before walking over to Jack.
"His quirk is called Septic Eye, basically the green eye he has produces this kind of septic juice that when extracted is great for healing any injury." Chase whispered as he watched Doctor Schneeplestien work.
"Don't call it 'septic juice', zhat is disgusting." Doctor Schneeplestein growled under his breath, wrinkling his nose in disgust.
"Ew, why can't he just cry to get the septic shit from his eye?" Mark gagged as he wrinkled his nose in disgust.
"His septic eye still functions as a normal eye for the most part, so he cries normal tears." Chase countered before jogging to Jack's bedside.
"Jack, are you okay?" Doctor Schneeplestien prompted, the Irishman groaning softly as his eyes fluttered open.
"Remind me to not get on Felix's bad side." Jack joked, his humor poorly disguising the disappointment for losing in his voice.
"Hey, you did great out there." Mark encouraged, offering Jack a smile as he sat up while rubbing his head.
"Yeah, you totally kicked ass out there bro!" Chase cheered energetically.
"Zhis boy brought you here, he vas vorried." Doctor Schneeplestein chimed in, bandaging the spot on Jack's head where he was injected with the needle.
"Really? Thanks Mark!" Jack exclaimed, starting to get out of bed before Doctor Schneeplestien stopped him.
"You are staying here until I say zhat you can leave." Doctor Schneeplestien instructed, Jack groaning in response as his head flopped back down onto the pillow.
"You two should go, I can take care of him." Doctor Schneeplestien promised, Chase nodding as he walked towards the door with Mark.
"Oh, hey Mark?"
Mark paused when Jack called his name, the teen turning to face the Irishman.
"Go kick ass out there like a boss." Jack grinned, Mark smiling back as he left the room to return to the others.
