Personality!

Arion does his best to be a good person. He knows that in politics and power hard decisions have to be made, and he does his best to make them. However, he is ultimately hesitant. He second-guesses himself a lot and is very conscious of what other people think. He's indecisive, and struggles with anxiety and self-esteem. However, he's very good at hiding this. Having been brought up with training to appear put-together for a public, he's good at seeming confident and capable. His personality is hard to place because he's such a good actor and he has versions of himself that he cycles through depending on who he's talking to.

Arion has a cockatoo named Orion. He's a very good messenger bird. He remembers faces and names and delivers messages quickly and efficiently. This is why Zéphine steals him a lot. Orion doesn't like strangers but he's used to Zef.

Backstory!

There's not a whole lot to say about his origins. He was born to the King and Queen. His father was killed on a diplomatic mission to Ushua. His carriage was robbed, the thieves probably didn't know he was a king. Of course, this caused grief in the kingdom, but not uproar. He was not the carrier of the royal blood, the Queen was. However, it was still a shock. People rarely died of unnatural causes in Janbu.

Arion was too young when his father died to really remember him, but he was very close to his mother. He looked up to her a lot and copied most of what she did, trying to learn how to be a just ruler and protect his people. When she, too, was killed, he was heartbroken and suddenly thrust into a position of power. With his coronation looming just around the corner, Arion is determined to be a good king.
