Chapter 2

"Let me speak with him," I demand. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you do that," he replied. "Loki is dangerous." "He didn't seem so dangerous when I looked into his mind," I shot back, causing him to pause. "You looked into his mind?"

I'm looking into yours as we speak, I reply telepathically, causing his eyes to widen. I have another power, but I'd prefer not to use it against you. I won't ask you again. Let me see him. I want to speak with him.

He just stares blankly at me for a moment longer before sighing. "Why do you want to see him?" "For over a fortnight I was left to listen to his thoughts as my only past time," I reply. "I have seen how he thinks. I want to meet him properly."

The man nods slowly. "Just don't get in the way, kid."

He starts leading me towards a strange moving contraption. He calls it an elevator. We stand in it and we start moving downwards, which I find very strange. I'm not used to all this technology stuff, even though it seems that this is a pretty common thing.

It isn't long before we reach wherever we're going and, after a little tour of the hallways, we finally reach a room overlooking 'Loki', as they call him. The blonde man with the hammer had indeed gone in there, though at the moment they were simply talking. I sigh in relief.

I link my mind to theirs and listen patiently. Loki is referring to blondie as Thor. Stupid fool, he's thinking. Does he ever learn? When I get out of here, the only mortal I'll have to deal with that I don't feel like blasting is whichever one insisted I get out of that horrid place. How am I supposed to prove that I have my regrets?!

I walk over, causing both men to look to me. "Who are you?" Loki questions, then looks to Thor. "Is this mortal supposed to be some kind of help to you? She doesn't appear able to kill a fly!"

"You of all people should know that looks can be deceiving, brother," Thor shot back. "Though I too am confused."

"This man has been in pain for too long," I state to Thor, gesturing to Loki. "He regrets whatever it is that he did to you people. I can feel it. I have felt his pain for over a fortnight. He had nobody to hide anything from. He never knew I existed, let alone that I was listening. But yet he still was screaming his regrets and sorrows to the highest heavens. He deserves to be freed, or at least given a second chance."

"Listen to the mortal, brother," Loki said to Thor, who stepped over to me. "Who are you to have a say on this?" He demanded. "She's that girl we broke out of that bunker," the man who rescued me explained, walking up behind me. "She has powers. She's been using them on Loki without his knowing."

"What has she been doing to me?" Loki seemed a little worried now. "Nothing big," I reply. "I haven't even tampered with anything. You'd know if I had."

"Then how do you deem him reformed?" Thor questioned me. I have heard his thoughts, just like I have yours, I reply telepathically. He seems shocked. I have other powers, Thor, but I do not wish to have to use them against you. His thoughts are anything but pure, but they hold deep regrets. He is unknowing to what my abilities are. Why would he alter his thoughts for over a fortnight just to trick someone he didn't know existed or was listening in to a private place that usually only he can access?

Thor looked at me for a minute before grunting and walking over to Loki, hammer raised. I would've stepped in, but his thoughts confirmed that I didn't need to. The hammer swung down, smashing through the bindings holding Loki prisoner.

He looked up at me. "Why did you help me, mortal?" He questioned. "You were painful to me," I answer simply. "Let's just say I found a healer. Now what exactly did you do to these people?"

His thoughts changed to a fight. A large green monster, a redhead woman, the armoured man who carried me here, the man with the shield who first rescued me, Thor and a guy with a bow and arrows. All were attacking Loki, who had sent in an alien invasion. It was clear that they were trying to protect people while Loki was trying to destroy whatever he could.

I backed away slightly, rubbing my temples. "An alien invasion... no wonder..."

"I never said..." Loki was confused as to how I know. You thought about it and that is all the explanation I need, I tell him telepathically, causing him to start. Then he smirked. You're not the only one with powers like those.

And other powers? I question. You'll simply have to find out, is his reply. I smirk as well. As you will have to with mine... God of Mischief.

He chuckles, surprising everyone in the room, save for me. We didn't open our minds to them, so they didn't hear a thing. "Who was the one who thought of that?" Loki questioned. "... the God of Thunder," I reply. "If these are true nicknames, of course."

"They are titles, not mere nicknames!" Thor yelled. I realised he was being truthful. "My apologies. It's just not every day that I meet anyone, let alone gods."

He seems satisfied by my answer. "I would expect not. Now what do you suppose we do with Loki?"

"Keep him on probation," I reply. "I can tell he regrets what he did in the past and wishes to make amends. But torture isn't going to help. Torture makes the monsters, it doesn't scare them away."

"We never sent Loki to where he was tortured," Thor replied. "But I see your logic. We shall keep him 'on probation', as you say."

I nod, pleased with his answer.
