18 | Talk About Myself
Fawnie assumed she'd be bored out of her mind being in the middle of nowhere... but the more she let loose, the more she enjoyed spending time with Bonnie and his family. Michael, of course, was still throwing a hissy fit and was giving poor Bonnie trouble. This led Fawn to take on the role of his caretaker which was another name for forcing him to take his meds.
"I don't need fuckin' medicine, Fawnie." He'd say. "That shit is making the pain worse."
Each time, she'd roll her eyes and manage to convince Michael it would help. It wasn't that hard, she'd just steal his cigarettes and promise to give him one for each pill he took. Her plan worked rather well, that is until Fawnie realized he was running low on cigarettes... she blamed it on her damn nerves because she may have stolen... one... or two...
She couldn't help it! She's beyond stressed, worrying about Finn of all people.

Flashback

Fawnie took a long drag from the cigarette in her hand while glancing over her shoulder to check if anyone saw her. She told Michael she had to go to the loo, which wasn't a complete lie. But after using the bathroom, Fawnie felt the itch to do something she never really did; smoke a cigarette.
It made her cough the first few puffs, but eventually, her throat grew used to the burn of the tobacco. She flicked the ashes off to the side before walking further into the woods to find a good tree to lean on. After one last look over her shoulder, Fawnie allowed herself to relax and let out a sigh of air.
Being alone was difficult with the Gold family. Bonnie had more sisters and cousins than he could count and Fawnie was usually stuck braiding a few of the kids' hair. Even the young lads with long hair wanted them styled into simple braids as it kept their hair out of their faces. The leaves crunched under her feet as she shifted her position because a stick was jabbing into her shoulder.
"There you are," Fawnie almost dropped the cigarette in her hand at the sound of Bonnie's soft voice. How she hadn't heard him come up behind her was beyond Fawnie as she took a deep breath, "I'm sorry, hadn't meant to frighten you."
She shook her head before training her eyes on the ground, "Oh, it's okay, I'm just a tad jumpy." Her voice was unusually quiet, very unlike any of the Shelby family, but Fawnie found it hard to raise her voice after screaming at Tom.
Bonnie smiled and nodded, "You have every right to be Ms. Shelby."
He's been calling her Ms. Shelby despite Fawnie's best attempts to get Bonnie to call her by her first name. "Please stop calling me that, it makes me feel so old... Fawnie or Fawn's fine." She stubbed out the cigarette behind her, not wanting Bonnie to know she was more worried than she let on.
"You alright?" Fawn shrugged and put on an innocent face, "Why're you out here by yourself? Florence and Jemma were looking for you." His tone made Fawnie's heart clench, nobody was tender these days and Bonnie's kindness was truly appreciated.
Fawnie picked at the hem of her button-up, "Needed to get away... to think." She tried to give Bonnie a smile but it wasn't working, he'd opened a door that Fawnie knew wouldn't close up anytime soon.
Ignoring her emotions was quite easy for the youngest Shelby, she just pretended to be fine. Not good, happy, or content... she did the bare minimum to make herself seem okay. "Need someone to talk to?"
Fawnie looked at the ground once more while shaking her head, "I don't really... talk about myself."
"It usually helps me, I tell my dad everything."
"I haven't got a dad, he left when I was young." There was no emotion in Fawnie's voice. Ever since Arthur Shelby Senior returned in 1919 and called Fawn a bastard, she could give a damn about him. She just lacked a father figure and Fawn was fine with that as she has plenty of powerful women in her life.
Bonnie's eyes widened as an apologetic look immediately covered the curious one, "I'm so sorry- I didn't mean-"
She cut him off by setting a hand on his forearm, "It's fine, Bon. You didn't know," Finally feeling a bit better, Fawnie was able to muster up a smile.
It seemed Bonnie appreciated the gesture because a shy smile grew on his pretty face, "Bon now is it?"
"Oh shut up, Mr. Gold."
"Ouch."
AUTHOR'S NOTE;
Hi, I love them so much :) And yes, I realized how lame it was to make Fawnie go with Michael but I needed Fawn and Bonnie to have some relationship development :)) Also thank you for nearly 10k (at the time I wrote this lmao, on Sept. 2) It's now nearly 13k which is INSANE!?
