Chapter 17

Darren

She was leaning against the wall, her eyes closed. Her legs were stretched out in front of her. One of her ankles was covered in white bandages.

Darren knocked slightly on the opened door, and she opened her eyes. He was treated to the swirling greys of her eyes, which he saw in his head all day long and dreamt about at night.

"Whaddup, demon-eyes?" she asked. Darren raised his eyebrows in question.

"Demon-eyes?"

"Your eyes are really black. That's how demon-eyes are on some show," she affirmed. "What's it called... Supernatural, I think. Ally made me watch it."

"Ally?" Darren asked.

"Just some person I know," Fel shrugged it off. He shook his head, and spoke again.

"I'm taking you somewhere, so get up." This time, she raised her eyebrows.

"Taking me where?"

"You'll find out." He walked towards and knelt in front of her. He had a cloth in his hand. "Turn around," he ordered. "Blindfold?" she guessed. Darren nodded, and she turned her face in the opposite direction. He quickly tied it around her eyes, adjusting it to make sure she couldn't see anything. He had considered knocking her out, but he was scared that too much chloroform would affect her.

He slid a hand around her waist, and she wrapped her hand around his shoulder, placing it on his bare arm. Darren took a step forward, and she moved with him. He noticed that she had her eyes shut tightly. Her fingers were digging into his arm.

"You alright?" he asked. She opened her eyes and looked at him. "Yeah," she said quietly.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah." She nodded a little. "Just... pain, you know." She shrugged. He narrowed his eyes at her.

"You were trying to see if your powers work, weren't you?" he asked. She shrugged and tried to move forward again, removing her hand from his shoulder. He kept his grip on her waist. "No harm in trying, is there?"

"It doesn't hurt?" he asked. She continued limping towards the door, Darren walking with her. "It's bearable," she replied. He pushed the door open. "I heal fast," she continued. "Well, sometimes. Some wounds heal really fast, like this one, while some take a long time to heal." They stopped at the hall and she moved her head around, like she could see. "Longer than normal," she finished.

Darren continued walking, with Fel limping next to him, clinging to his hand. In normal circumstances, he would have been in bliss - the love of his life holding his arm, and the two of them going out together. But right now, she didn't remember anything from her past life, including anything about him, and she was hurt and they were in hiding. Not exactly bliss.

They reached the car, and he helped her in. He hadn't seen his mother on the way out, thankfully. She would have tried talking to Fel and something might have gone wrong.

Darren settled into his seat, and shut the door. It was gonna be a long ride.

Chloe

She couldn't see anything. Everything was black. BLACK. Damn, he tied blindfolds well. She wanted to pretend like she could see, just to make him doubt his blindfold-tying skills, but she literally had no idea where anything was. She was in a car. That was all she knew.

She heard him fidget around, and the sound of the radio soon filled the car. Some song was just starting. It sounded ever so slightly familiar to Chloe, but she couldn't recognize it.

"I walk a lonely road

The only one that I have ever known

Don't know where it goes

But it's home to me and I walk alone."

"Do you know what song this is?" he asked, hesitating. She shrugged. "Slightly sounds familiar, I guess. Ally probably played it for me sometime," she replied. He sighed and Chloe felt the car speeding up. He murmured something under his breath.

"What did you say? I didn't quite catch that," Chloe asked.

"You used to love this song. Obsessed with the lyrics," he clarified. Chloe shook her head. She didn't have to be able to see to know that he had a super-sad puppy expression on his face.

"I don't remember," she replied, not knowing what to say. She didn't remember. For all she knew, it probably wasn't real. But for some reason, she believed him.

"I know." He sighed again. "You might as well sleep or something, it's a long ride ahead," he said. She shrugged and put her head against what she assumed was the window of the car, and shut her eyes. She couldn't sleep. The darkness of her surroundings was disconcerting.

"Are you asleep?" he asked.

"Nope." she replied. "But what if I had been sleeping? You would have woken me up."

"Sorry," he said. Chloe laughed. A silence filled the car.

"Why don't your powers work?" he spoke up again. Her eyes opened. "What?" she asked, even though she had heard him perfectly well.

"I asked why your powers don't work on me. Do you have powers at all?" he questioned. Her fingers curled into a fist. She wanted to punch him. She wasn't used to being questioned about her powers. If her powers worked, she could get him to shut up. If her powers worked, she wouldn't be there in the first place.

"I don't know," she muttered, gritting her teeth. The volume of the music decreased.

"Well, good thing they don't. Or I'm assuming I'd be dead by now." Chloe mentally agreed with him.

This chapter was absolute shit, I know. I took so long to write it, and I finally managed to get something up. Consider this a filler of sorts.

But I promise, the next chapter's gonna be a lot better. I hope.

And please, VOTE, COMMENT and SHARE

I love you all!
