Prologue

Hey guys. This is an idea I had in my head for some time. I hope you guys like it. And if there's anyone who can hep with making a cover for this story, it would be appreciated. Now, I hope you like it. Now, enjoy the Read.:) -Weeksjmj29.

Dr. Lilia Hamilton looked through her reports as she sat inside the confines of a small forest within the perimeter of a 10 meter glass box with holes filtering from the roof.  Within the box was a thin layer of grass and dirt that made it feel real, but Lilia knew better. She knew what this place really was, no matter how real they try to make it.

'All this is, no matter how they sugarcoat it, is still a prison. A cage to contain a secret that the government is hiding from this world.' She thought as she sighed. She may be a scientist, but she didn't believe in what is happening. She believes that all life should be free. Not bound because humanity believe it to be a sin. An abomination. But not everyone agrees with her. Especially since people have been trying their best to get their hands on this secret. A secret that she is entrusted to keep.

She just signed the last bit of paperwork when she heard a rustling sound coming from the bushes near the table she was sitting at. She looked up and just smiled as she heard a little giggle coming from the bushes. She placed her notes and reports on the table as she turned her head, not paying attention to the sound of the giggles as she stood.

"Now, I wonder what caused the rustling sound and that adorable giggle." Her statement triggered another series of giggles as the source of the giggles stayed hidden. She stood up and started walking over to the bush. As she did, the giggles disappeared. She slowly counted to 3 as she stopped near the bush. Then, with the speed of a viper, she lashed out towards the bushes.

"Gotcha." She yelled with joy in her voice as she tried to get the source of the giggles, only to see an empty bush. She looked around in confusion. Then she smiled. "Where did you go?"

Her question was answered when she felt a small body pounce onto her shoulders, causing her to fall on to the dirt. She then felt the small body move from her back to her side. She smiled as she saw the furry whisker face behind the giggles.

"There you are Cera, my little furry girl." She laughed as the girl with whiskers giggled. The girl then spoke in a light and kind voice full of joy. "I got you this time Lily." She laughed as she touched the girl's face, her hand touching her whiskers and light fur that was on her face.

"Yeah you did. You got me little Cerry." Cera just giggled at Lilia's nickname for her. She jumped away and landed with the lithe of a cat and ran off, giggling wildly as she did. She stopped and smelled a flower that was blooming in the garden that was planted near the small grove that was Cera's home. She then giggled as the smelled excited her, causing her to run around.

Dr. Lilia just smiled at the little girl. But on the inside, she felt sadness and sympathy for the girl, knowing that she will grow up in this glass cage. She wish she could take her away, but she knows that they would never let her take Cera. Especially given what she is.

Lilia kept on staring at little Cera, admiring the little angel. Cera stood at 3 feet, 6 inches(not exactly sure how tall your average five year old should be). She looked to be arounds five years old. She had beautiful luscious black hair running down her back, and her sapphire blue eyes made you think you was looking into the deep blue sea as sunshine would hit it at the perfect time. The traits that make her truly look human. The rest of her, however, truly sets her apart. The very reason she is this cage.

Her Sapphire blue eyes were catlike, with the pupils the shape like that of a rattlesnake's eye. Her face is coated with a very thin layer of light orange furr. Her mouth and nose looked human, but her small whiskers showed what she really was. Her ears stood to the side of her head like a humans, but they were catlike. The rest of her small body is what makes her different.

From the neck down, she was cover in thin layer of orange and black furr cascaded all over her body. In some areas, the later of fur is softer than others. She had small tiger-like claws on her fingers that she could retract when she wants too. Under her lips, her fangs were coming softly. Her feet were catlike, with retractable claws. The claws on her hands and feet would help her climb trees when she wants to. And on her back, just above her bottom, was another thing that set her apart. At the about feet and a half long, her small tail move as a cats would. Lilia would giggle sometimes when Cera's tail would tickle her.

Lilia just sighed as she looked Cera. 'The first hybrid to ever exist, and they treat her like she's a monster, an abomination. They are the true monsters.' She thought as she looked down, pretending to look at her papers. 'They keep an angel in a cage because they don't understand her. She's just a child. And I can't don't nothing about it.' She closed her eyes to prevent herself from crying.

She feared for the little girl. She knew what her future will be. What they will do to her. And she couldn't do anything to stop them. 'The testing will start soon. 2 more years until they do.' She thought as she knew what they had in store for Cera. She knew that they were waiting for her to turn seven years old before they start experimenting on her. Her torture would begin.

Lilia blamed herself most of all. "I'm sorry Cerry." She said in a very soft voice. "I'm sorry for what will happen because of me." She was the reason that Cera was in this glass cage. Because five years ago, she found her. Where Cera was born. Where she made the biggest mistake of her life.

~Flashback~

Lilia and her coworker Howard were heading to look after their friend Monica, seven year old Bengal Tiger. They worked at a Tiger Conservation Center in Wyoming(I don't know if there is one in Wyoming.), taking care of wild tigers that were being poached and/or hunted. Lilia loved taking care of the tigers and nursing them back to health.

Currently, they were nursing Monica, a seven year old Bengal tiger that was pregnant. They worried about the female. Normally it would take 3 -4 months for a pregnant Female to give birth, but this time, it was different. It has been 6 months, and she hasn't gave birth to a single kitten. They fear that something may be wrong with the kitten for the pregnancy to be longer than normal. For now, all they could do is wait.

Lilia was walking towards Monica's den with Howard when she heard him speak to her. "Monica has been worrying me for some time. It usually take female tigers three and half to four months to go into labor. She's two months pass her delivery date." She nodded as they got close to Monica's Den. "Yes. It worries me as well. She 2 months pass her due date. I'm worried about the kitten." He nodded as they slowed down. They froze when they the familiar growl. They slowly enter Monica's Den.

They look forward as they got to the center of the Den. They heard a growl again when they spot Monica. She was decent orange and black Bengal tiger. She looked tired and wary, showing signs of being pregnant, her swollen belly prominent as she laid on her side.

As she spots them as they approach, she let's out a weak warning growl. They approach slowly, showing no signs of agression. Lilia spoke in a soothing tone, while making handsigns. "It's alright girl. We aren't here to harm you. We're just here to check up on your and your progress." Monica let out a growl once more before laying back down.

As they get close to her, they notice instantly something is wrong. Lilia placed her gently on Monica's body, and she felt it. "Howard, she's in labor, but she's going slower than usual." Howard went to the end of Monica and studied her opening. "She's pushing, but it's going slowly. She hasn't felt a contraction yet."

He spoke too soon, because a second later, Monica let out a yowling sound and growled, causing him and Lilia to jump back, getting away from her. They watched as she slowly stood and then laid back down. She opened her legs. They looked on as she let out sounds as she dug her claws into the dirt. They saw her pushing as her body shook.

Howard and Lilia got closer slowly as she continued pushing. She looked at them and growled. "It's okay girl. We're here to help you bring your kit into the world." Howard went towards her stomach as Lilia went to her opening, watching for signs of cresting.

"Okay girl, push." Howard said gently as he pushed her stomach to her uterus. Lilia watched as her hole began opening. "Alright good girl. The kit's coming." They heard her let out a yowl as she pushed very hardly. Lilia watched as the body of the covered in in a thick substance came slowly out of her hole.

With a final push and final yowl, Monica pushed as hard as she could. The kit came the rest of the way out. Lilia smiled as she looked the thick covering, hiding the kit. They knew that they had to get away so the mother could clean the kit and remove the covering.

She was right as they heard Monica growl. She and Howard rushed to get away as Monica turned around and began cleaning her kit. They watched as Monica tear threw the thick covering, releasing the kit from it's prison. Lilia looked at Howard who looked at her and smiled. "We have a new member of our group." She smiled at that.

Her smiled faded the instant they heard a whimper. They both turn their heads to Monica who was whimpering and breathing shallowly. They rushed to her to try a figure out what happened. Monica turned over and laid on her side. Howard placed his head on her large chest and listened. He looked at Lilia with sadness in his eyes.

"Her breathing is slowing. The childbirth was too much for her." He said as Monica lift her head one more time to look at kit. She let out a whimper and then looked at Lilia, as if asking an unspoken question. She lowered head back to the ground and whimpered one last time.

Lilia looked at Monica with tears in her eyes as Monica drew one last breath before going still. Howard knelt and place his head over chest, hoping to hear a heartbeat. He closed his eyes and sat up. He then looked at Lilia and shook his head. Lilia looked and silently wept at the loss of her friend.

They were startled when they heard a sound they weren't expecting. It wasn't the sound of a kitten mewling. It was the sound of a baby crying. But it sounded distorted. Lilia rushed to the kitten and got on her knees. She lifted the kitten, but just as she picked the kitten up, she almost dropped it when her eyes widen at what she saw.

"Howard, you better come over here."  She said as she looked at the mysterious creature in her arms. She knew that it was more than a kitten. Howard walked over and looked at the kitten, only for his eyes to widen as her did.

What they expected to see, which was a small tiger kitten, wasn't what see in Lilia's arms. In her arms was a small human like baby with light fur allowed it's body. A little tail was wrapped around the baby's body. It yawned and then opened it's eyes. Lilia's eyes widen at the color of the babies eyes. Blue as the sea and lucious as sapphire, the catlike eyes looked at them in wonder. Lilia fell in love with this creature. She looked at it body and realized it is a girl.

"Howard, it's a girl." She said as she smiled at the creature. But when she looked at the expression on his face, the smile dropped. Howard had a look of fear and confusion. But most of all, a look of slight disgust. All he did was nodded. She ignored the looks and looked at baby. She slowly stood.

"Let's head back to Center. We need to tell the others about this." He had a blank expression on his face as he nodded. He stood and followed her to the Center. All the while, Lilia was still holding the baby, not knowing what she had done.

~Flashback Ended~

At the time, she didn't know what she did or what her mistake, but it became clear as she looked at her coworkers back then. Most of them had looks of fear disgust at Cera, but her biggest mistake was saying to Howard they should tell someone. Days after she was born, government officials in black suits came and took her and Lilia away. Lilia inadvertently became her so called mother and raised in the only place she could. To her, Cera was an angel. To others, she was seen as a monster.

She didn't care either way. She cared for Cera. Even if it was one person, it was enough. And for now, at Lilia was just happy that Cera was happy. Because to her, Cera's happiness was all that mattered.

She was broken out of her thoughts when she heard a coughing sound. She looked up and over her shoulder and tensed at what she saw. Or rather she tensed at who she saw. Standing behind her, in a business suit with a lab coat over it, was Lucas Galloway.

She hated him the moment she met him. But she was also afraid of him. With salt and pepper pressed flat agains his head, he was scary looking. Facial features all chiseled and regal, as though he expected you to bow to him. He had a scar over left eye. He looked to be in his late thirties to early fourties. His hazel eyes seem to see into her soul. He took one look at Cera and and looked at Lilia with a look of annoyance.

"Shouldn't you be do your reports and studies, Dr. Hamilton?" She only nodded as she lifted her folder. "Been doing why watching Cera, Mr. Galloway." He stepped forward and held out his hand. She knew what he wanted and so she gave him her folder with her reports. He quickly looked through them before looking back at her.

"Dr. Hamilton. Remember you must follow the rules. If I find your notes and reports not done on time, I'll remove you from your position." She nodded, not saying anything. "Yes sir." He just nodded before staring at Cera. He then looked at Lilia.

"And stay way from the monster. You're meant to study, not interact." He turned around began leaving the glass cage. Lilia only stared at the glass, wishing she could take Cera from within it. He had to followed orders so she could take care of Cera, but she didn't want hurt her by leaving her alone.

She felt a slight tug on her labcoat. She looked down and saw that it was Cera. Cera spoke in a child like voice. "Is everything alright, Mrs. Lily?" Lilia only shook her and then smiled at the little girl and rubbed her head.

"Everything is alright, little Cerry." She knelt and gave Cera a hug. "I have to go now. I'll try my best to come see you when I can." She nodded her head and giggled. "I'll see you tomorrow, Lily." She then ran off. She didn't see the tears in Lilia's eyes.

"I'm sorry Cery. I don't know when I'll be able to see you, but I will try. I'm sorry that this had happened to you. But I will try to help. Bye for now, my little Tigress." She said softly as she stood and left the glass cage, knowing that the nightmare has yet to come.
